Music degree from Lawrence University and Conservatory in Appleton, WI. Graduate work in conducting, piano, and vocal pedagogy at Westminster Choir College in Princeton. Also certified in Kindermusik for ages newborn to 7.
My studio, since 1993 is located in the back of my house and is in a family friendly location.
As my education originally was music education, elementary and secondary, I have gone on to be certified in teaching adults, both beginning and returning. There is so much piano and vocal educational material geared to the pre-school, the elementary, Jr-Sr high and Adult beginner and I promise we will have fun while learning.....
Anyone can learn an instrument and anyone can learn many different styles. Lessons will be geared toward your interests and goals, which we can work on at your lesson also.
test virtues of a music teacher are passion, patience, understanding, and communicating. You will experience this in the studio. Give yourself a treat of two months of lessons and I promise you will be playing and/or singing better than you expected.
Member of MTNA (Music Teachers National Association), NFMC (National Federation of Music Clubs), NJFMC (NJ Fed. of Music Clubs). MENC (Music Ed National Conference),
*** Lesson Details *** I am generally easy going and laid-back and will work with you to obtain specific goals such as a piece you would really like to learn. I can be strict if assignments are not followed or if there is no progression; we need to analyze why that is. I use many teaching methods as there are many different learning styles. The series I am currently using are Faber, Alfred, and Celebrate Piano! for pianists. Many singers are in Broadway, Disney, and/or English Reliquary and Italian Arias. There are so many wonderful choices! I can guarantee after three months you will be playing some music you like, and you will be reading music, and able to perform if you wish (starting small). With singing you will have basic knowledge of proper posture, breathing, and increased range. I also so enjoy people and communicating so you will feel comfortable taking lessons, and I believe that is one major factor of success in learning an instrument: the student-teacher relationship And second for children, especially the young, is the parent-teacher relationship .
*** Studio Equipment *** Studio: Yamaha baby grand piano, Kawaii studio upright and keyboard, Yamaha keyboard, recording abilities, computer software, couch and two chairs, parents can sit in on lesson. David picked up the guitar when he moved from his hometown of Phoenix, Arizona in 2001 at the age of 19 and hasn't looked back since. 7 years and countless hours of practicing, performing and teaching later, David plays at multiple venues in the Kansas City area while teaching from his studio at Guitar Source in Overland Park,, Southland Conservatory in Raymore, and in home tutoring service Mobile Music Teachers. David also teaches and records from his home studio in Raytown, MO where he offers lessons for home schoolers during the daytime hours.
As a guitarist David is motivated primarily by his passion for music. Growing up he was influenced by classical, jazz, and film scores. Since picking up the guitar he has been inspired by guitarists from such diverse backgrounds as Eric Johnson,
Robben Ford, Pat Martino, Pat Metheny, Martin Taylor, and James Taylor, to name a few. Today David plays and teaches a variety of different styles, ranging from rock and blues to classical and jazz.
David started to play the piano after years of playing the guitar. Although a second instrument, it in many ways it was the first as everything David has aspired to on the guitar is pianistic, and he draws much of his inspiration on the instrument from piano players. Correspondingly, it wasn't long before David picked up the piano itself, studying privately first with Tatev Amir and later with Karen, Kushner, Professor of Piano Studies at UMKC. David applies many of the same principles to the piano that he does the guitar including stressing a comprehensive knowledge of music theory, self transcription, ear training and classical technique as well as the more traditional facets of piano pedagogy such as sight reading and rhythm work. Students learn music theory as applied to the keyboard, sight-reading, improvisation and the application of classical technique to modern styles.
As a pianist David is motivated primarily by his passion for music. Growing up he was influenced by classical, jazz, and film scores. Since picking up the piano he has been inspired by pianists from such diverse backgrounds as Art Tatum, Nicolai Lugansky, Oscar Peterson, and Bill Evans among others. Today David plays and teaches a variety of different styles, ranging from rock and blues to classical and jazz.

Tom has a music degree focused in guitar performance and a combined professional teaching and performance career that spans over twenty years.
Tom began teaching in 1994 and still practices today instructing students of all ages on guitar and bass techniques, as well as music theory.
Tom is very laid back and embraces working at the pace that each of his students feels most comfortable. Lessons are about the student’s ambitions. If it is learning their favorite songs or a deep dive into music theory, jazz improvisation or songwriting it can be covered in strides that seem fit to the student. Books can be used for guidance and a custom lesson plan created that will fit specific criteria desired to be achieved by the student. Remember, practice makes perfect. The more you put in, the more you will get out of it!!
Excellent first lesson! I’m so excited to continue my lessons with Paul!
August 20, 2019
I'll get right to the point. Paul's personality made it extremely easy for me not only to be comfortable but to feel really appreciated. I was fearful that Paul may feel like, "oh great another person who THINKS he has something but can't sing a lick!" I experienced the exact opposite. Within 15 minutes he located what has been my most frustrating issue. I felt like I was already ahead of the game and we hadn't even started yet! Paul has the rare balance of a sense of humor and still following an agenda to meet my goal. Thanks to Paul I really feel like I can, and WILL reach all my goals. AND enjoy the journey to them!! Can't wait for the next lesson!
I want to have you walking out of the lesson happy, and excited to go home and practice some new material. With me you'll learn about guitar, but you'll also learn about music and how playing can help you in life (perseverance, basic math foundations, etc.)
I am a jazz guitarist based out of beautiful Los Angeles, California. I received and Associate of Arts degree in Music in 2015, and have been pursuing a bachelors in Jazz Studies since then.
While in community college I really grew into my own as a musician and discovered that I love jazz and the language of bebop. Not only the music, but the history of how it formed as well as the differences from classical music. When at school I stood out from the other guitarists because I was hungry to learn and that attitude will hopefully follow me for the rest of my life.
Thats what I'd hope to pass on the students; that knowledge, be it music, english, math, physiology, etc. is the key to everything. And that it doesn't have to be all stuffy and boring! I tailor my lessons to the student whether its guitar, piano, ukulele, etc. and my main
objective is to learn and have fun, so the learning is reinforced with good natured thoughts. This will set up the student to actually want to practice!
As a musician I've been in a couple of groups, and lately I have been concentrating on my students as well as continuing school in 2020. I also try to utilize the computer to produce when possible so I can learn about that aspect of music. My passion is improvisation/composition, because I hope to one day leave songs behind that people can play forever and be influenced by them like so many have influenced me.
My curriculum is tailored to meet each students specific needs. I am a classically trained guitarist with experience teaching students of all ages and styles. I teach theory, chords, how to read music and more.
I teach guitar, piano, violin and ukulele to anyone 5 or older! Lessons are fun and exciting, we are constantly learning! I am an enthusiastic, patient and motivated teacher.
Learn to play guitar, piano, banjo, ukulele, or saxophone AND MORE from a PROFESSIONAL MUSICIAN with over 28+ YEARS OF EXPERIENCE in performance and instruction. I am also a MUSIC THERAPY STUDENT at Maryville University. I cater to ALL AGES AND ABILITIES.
If I could give Brian 10 stars, I would. He is enthusiastic, present, supportive and highly knowledgeable. Learning instruments has always been a challenge for me , but Brian makes being a banjo beginner an absolute joy. I look forward to practicing every day, and can really hear my progress - which amazes me because it's only been just over a month. I can see myself working with Brian for the long haul. He puts me at ease, and always gives great responsive tips that improve my playing immediately. I feel SO lucky to have stumbled across his profile.

"Due to schedule conflicts, we didn't continue our lessons with Ron, so the rating might be higher if we had him longer. Ron was so polite, always positiv

"Great Teacher! I look forward to continuing to progress with my playing."

Honestly, we feel that we have found a jewel of a teacher and my family highly recommends him."
"Jeff is a great guitar teacher. He knows everything about the guitar and music theory. Whenever I have a question, Jeff always goes into great detail to

Thinking about taking guitar lessons? It's one of the most popular instruments for beginners! While it's pretty easy to pick up the guitar and start plucking, if you really want to master the chords and songs you hear from your favorite artists, working with an experienced guitar teacher is important. Here, Brooklyn guitar teacher Amit P. discusses six of the most common questions new guitar players have before starting lessons...
1. "Am I too young or too old to start learning …
