About Christopher

Hello! Hola! Benvenuto! My name is Christopher S. and I am a classical guitarist, composer, polyglot, and experienced language and music teacher.

I am a recent graduate with a Doctorate of Music Arts degree from the University of South Carolina. I also graduated with my M.M. fro the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. There I studied with the world-renowned guitarist Eliot Fisk who is a direct student of the legendary guitarist Andres Segovia.

Currently, I work part-time teaching 12 students guitar at the University of South Carolina, in Columbia. I also teach ukulele, Spanish, Italian, and English to a variety of students online. I have also just completed my debut album titled, "Anima - The Music of Spain and Italy for the Guitar." This album is a tribute and memorial to an amazing journey I had traveling and living

in Europe for 3 years.

After I graduated from my undergraduate degree, I realized that in order to better my skills as a musician and become the guitar teacher I wanted to be I had to travel abroad. I moved to Seville, Spain where for three years I studied the art of classical and flamenco guitar.

I studied with an internationally known Spanish guitarist named Francisco Bernier at the Conservatory in Seville. During this time I was also teaching English as a second language to high school and middle school students. From traveling and spending so much time in Europe, I also developed and studied my love of languages and I became fluent in Spanish and Italian.

The experienced was an experience of a lifetime and I made many friends working and living abroad that to this day, I still keep in contact with.

If you are interested in having lessons with me, please contact me and we can begin learning the art of making beautiful music or learning the beautiful languages of the Mediterranean! "Hasta pronto!" "A presto!" and "Speak to you soon!"

I want to become a spanish tutor because I want to help others, transmit my knowledge and improve students communication skills. I also do think tutoring improves creativity and independence. Motivates self-paced and self-directed learning and fosters self esteem and self confidence. As a native speaker i will be an example of what life is like in Sout America and evaluate from a native perspective.

About Maria Carolina

Hola estudiantes! I am a native Spanish speaker born and raised in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I attended the University of Buenos Aires and received my bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from that institution. I have been teaching spanish in the US for more than 6 years !! I have been speaking English throughout my entire life and have fluent command in reading, writing, listening and speaking the English language. Furthermore, my past position in a US Government entity in Buenos Aires and my experience here in the United States have developed my knowledge and understanding of American culture and communication.
Both the Spanish language and Latin culture are becoming more present in the United State

s. I truly love my culture and my language, so the opportunity to teach them to other people who are from a different background excites me. Since I am from Argentina, I will offer a unique perspective to the students on what life is like in South America. I will serve as an example for what it is like to listen to a native speaker and I will be able to evaluate student’s speech from the viewpoint of a native speaker.
I have a great appreciation for American culture and have several years of experience working with American teenagers and adults while working at the US Government entity in Buenos Aires.
I managed the Internship Program which gave students an opportunity to gain work experience and improved their Spanish skills like comprehension, reasoning, understanding , writing and speaking. They really enjoyed having their latin american experience.
Since my husband is American , I have been teaching him for almost six years and he is making progress. He is very happy and very excited in learning new words, expressions and idiomas and he is working very hard to become fluent in Spanish
I love to be a spanish tutor because I like to help others, transmit my knowledge and improve students communication skills. I also do think tutoring improves creativity and independence. Tutoring provides greater congruence between teacher and learner, improves academic performance and personal growth. Motivates self-paced and self-directed learning and fosters self esteem and self confidence.
I am very a passionate and hard working person and i believe that being a tutor in Spanish is a very rewarding and interesting experience for me and for my students. I am very patient, a good listener and I want to generate a relaxing teaching and learning environment and also create and keep a good and professional relationship with students.

Private Spanish Teacher

I'm a Certified Interpreter in Spanish (along with Romanian, French, Italian, and Portuguese) by the Defense Language Institute Monterrey, California.
Since middle school I loved foreign languages which proved to be very rewarding starting with high school when traveling around the world with shooting competitions.
Visiting Spain and Andorra, and traveling countries on five continents allowed me the affinity of learning more about the culture but also develop preferences for myself. I also learned various accents available in other parts of the world where Spanish is spoken.

Learning any foreign language opens doors in life whether on personal or professional level, and I sincerely believe that anybody can learn anything disregarding their age; in fact, I have friends who late in life decided to learn foreign languages or various skills that they always wanted to learn, so, I encourage you to do the same.

About Isabela

Before reading about me, I'd like to share up front the honor that my newest student, R., has brought to me by choosing to learn Romanian. Nothing special so far except that he is 100 years old!!!! Yes, you read that correctly: a century old. He is the outmost inspiring person in my life by teaching me that age is just a number and that learning can happen any day if we choose so. R is a medical doctor, a psychologist, a chemist and biologist. Words can't even define how great of a man he is and how grateful I am to learn from him, too. For instance, about a famous language called "esperanto", a language created in the late 19th century.

I'm an enthusiastic learner even after 19 years of formal education (two Masters, one Bachelor) earned on two continents continued by US military education in various forms, and formally tested studen

t who needed to document skills that were not formally captured on paper (like the foreign languages I know).

I love interacting with people and pass on my knowledge from five visited continents, instill love for learning and continuous curiosity for any subject out there. Nothing is impossible when you set your mind to it. Failing once doesn't mean that you'll never win (proof in my athletic years and life ever since); determination, hard work, self-motivation and a good supporting system can bring to reality even the most insignificant dreams that we believe may not come true, and especially those in which we passionately trust.

I believe in breaking down a goal into objectives, assigning tasks to each one of them, and then sticking to achieve them.

I'm a Certified Instructor with the Department of Homeland Security. My hobbies include practicing foreign languages (and proper grammar rules which highly reflect on one's education) by speaking them, learning about cultures and slangs, etymology, watching foreign movies, traveling internationally, taking photos, reading (a lot), carefully planning with room for error and impulsive decisions (to take the boredom out of things), meeting with life long friends, drawing, painting, and spending time outdoors for inspiration and health.

I'm elated at the opportunity of brainstorming with you and giving you tools to be an independent learner.

Wether your a total beginner or you just want to brush up on your Spanish I will provide you a tailored lesson specifically for your need, with more one on one practicing than just learning theory. About Luis

My name is Luis Urrego and I was born in Colombia South America. I came to the United States when I was 7 years old and was raised here for most of my life. I am bilingual with my first language being Spanish and my second language English.

I currently work as a Web Designer for the Hall County School District in Gainesville G.A. and have been with them for over 8 years. I have been doing Web Designing for over 20 years though.

I am also a church minister and missionary and have done quite a few and extensive trips to Spanish speaking countries where I have had to both preach, interpret, and translate between English and Spanish. I have also done interpreting work for hospitals and am certified as an health care interpreter for the state of South Carolina.

One of my past time recreations is playing the game of Chess. I love the game

itself for the fun factor, but mainly for the social and behavioral developmental aspects of it. I believe it is a very beneficial game not just for adults, but especially for children to help develop their brain at an early age.

My main goal is to serve others in the best way possible and to see that my students become stronger and are satisfied in the area that I'm teaching them in.

"I’m so lucky to have found Dannia! As I had not spoken Spanish in quite a long time, I was very nervous for my lessons with her. She reassured me that I
would be having so much fun and there was no need to be nervous.

As an adult who studied Spanish in school, I really want to continue learning how to be conversational. Dannia is patient and super friendly— she is very organized in her lesson plans and objectives and I feel very comfortable with her. She guides me to the best version of what I want to say and always lets me know when there is opportunity to say something differently or better.

I cannot wait to continue our lessons together in my quest to be fluent!"
