Many of my students also study piano or guitar in order to increase musicianship and independence in study. Students are given every opportunity to become well-rounded, performing musicians when studying with me. I am a friendly, open-minded, enthusiastic musician who loves teaching others!
I am a professional, classically trained soprano with a love for theater and the arts! In addition to being a performer, I also love teaching music lessons. My private vocal studio includes a range of students from young children to adults, who vary in musical aspirations and sing in many different styles, including opera, art song, jazz, blues, pop, and musical theater. I have had a varied background growing up, from being an Eagle Scout, to holding a black belt in Judo. Growing up in Arizona and being the youngest of three boys from a very musical family, I found classical music and it became my passion. I began with piano at age 9, while also sang in many church musicals. In 2006 I graduated from Northern Arizona University with two degrees: a bachelors in vocal performance and a bachelors in piano/choral education. At NAU, I sang in many operas and piano recitals and spent three months in Germany teaching choir through the Department of Defense.Shortly after, I graduated with a masters in vocal performance from Washington University in St. Louis. The studies I learned from Wash U catapulted my love for teaching!Recently, I have been teaching out of St. John School of the Arts, where I worked with v
oice and piano students ages 7-60. All of my students had varying styles, but I was able to help them build a foundation of technique that would allow them to sing with a free and healthy tone in any style.I believe we all have the ability to create music and I can help you discover it!
*** Lesson Details *** My goal in voice lessons is first and foremost to establish a solid vocal technique. My philosophy is "singing is simple, but not easy!" We will focus mostly on two things: breath and space for singing. This method of teaching is known as "bel canto". It helps build a strong foundation that then allows you to sing almost any style! Because everyone is different, we will tailor a set of exercises to fit your needs and will help you build that strong foundation! Once these principles begin to settle in, we will work on music. I have a huge library of songs to chose from, but I highly encourage you to bring in your favorite songs. Remember, everyone is different and progresses at different rates, but don't be discouraged! This is not a race, but a life skill that you will continue to master!
In piano, I am classically trained. Through a series of music books, we will work on music theory, finger dexterity, music history, ear training, eye/hand coordination, and pure enjoyment of making music. Again, everyone is different, but with some outside commitment, you will improve! Classical piano training is a great foundation for all other styles, such as jazz, pop, singer songwriter, country, etc. Piano also helps with in other aspects of your life such as memory, math, history, reading, etc.
*** Studio Equipment *** I have a full size keyboard and music stand.
*** Travel Equipment *** Please provide a piano, music books, music stand (if needed), and a lesson book for notes.
*** Specialties *** I am a classically trained baritone specializing in bel canto. I have found this technique to be a great foundation for all styles of singing, from opera to pop. I am also classically trained at the piano. I focus on natural hand positions, note identification, music theory, and ear training. And I have fun doing it!
Tom is a very patient teacher who is supportive yet instructive in his feedback. As a novice I have very much appreciated his ability to see what I need as we move through the lessons. As an educator with over 35 years of experience, I appreciate his ability to connect with me, the student. My lessons have improved my ability and my confidence. Thanks, Tom! See you for another set of lessons

Shanita is an excellent vocalist. She takes time to ensure you’re both understanding and singing the right notes. She’s also a very kind person. You definitely feel you got more than what you paid for at the end of each lesson.
I studied contemporary vocal performance at the Berklee College of Music and classical voice with professors at Penn State. I also have experience with jazz, musical theatre and choral singing. Lessons with me will be fun and energetic. We'll use our whole bodies to get the right sound for the style of music you most want to pursue. We can start from the beginning or work on specific goals, like harmonizing, or a more powerful belt.
Hello! I'm Ellen, a recent graduate of the Berklee College of Music and a life long musician, performer and songwriter.
Music has allowed me to explore the world, as well as my own creativity and my relationship to others. I am eager to share these gifts! I can offer lessons in:
--Guitar... my specialty is fingerpicking, folk and blues, but I am a lover of all music and happy to teach anything!) --Voice... I have experience in classical, soul/r&b, musical theatre, contemporary, etc. --Cello --Piano... beginner students only --Songwriting --Ear Training --Music Theory --Accompaniment and Performance skills
Ellen is awesome. I am a total beginner and perfectionist so I don't tend to do well with learning something new in front of another person. I grow easily frustrated when I don't pick things up quickly and easily and get embarrassed when I make mistakes. Ellen makes the lessons super comfortable for me and I leave having learned something new every time. I have a LONG way to go but I can see where this can lead and plan to stick with it. She knows how to make music and an instrument make sense to someone with no background in music which is very helpful for me. I plan to stick with her for a long time!

I took 10 lessons with a different teach last summer and ended my package not being able to read sheet music or find my finger placement on the strings without second thought.
I have had just 3 lessons with Ellen thus far, and am reading sheet music like a wiz and gaining more and more confidence each lesson with my finger placement and now bowing.
Ellen has a wonderful system of teaching that truly makes everything she exposes you to stick, and has been getting me very excited to continue on knowing that I am in good hands and will progress quickly because of it. I will most definitely continue to see Ellen.

Ellen’s been great! We couldn’t ask for a better experience!
I like finding learning styles/approaches that best-fit an each individual student. I feel it is important that students feel comfortable asking questions and voicing concerns.
As an teacher/Instuctor: I believe it is important students feel they can communicate openly and honestly during lessons. As with many learning processes, singing requires practice, patience, determination, and enthusiasm!
As a singer/performer: I enjoy singing in a variety of 'classical' genres including Opera, Art Song, Early Music, and Broadway. While the majority of my performing experience centers in opera and music theater, I also enjoy solo recitals, chamber music, and choral performances.
Background: Originally I'm from Columbus Ohio. I obtained a Bachelor of Music at Ohio University, and a Master of Music at Texas Tech University. When not singing or teaching, I enjoy tai chi, meditation, making natural soap, cats, and being outdoors in nature.
As a professional pop/rock singer songwriter and musical theatre performer, I love infusing my teaching with techniques, warm ups, and insights that I've learned over the past few years (and even use myself). I have a BFA in Musical Theatre and have taught beginning piano and voice for the past year. Whether you're interested in singing pop, rock, standards, or Broadway, I will tailor lessons to meet your needs. Shoot me a message if you're interested, and we can set something up!

My versatility, experience and formal training helps me to make the learning experience easy, stress free and fun. I love to gear lessons towards the specific strengths and goals of each student.
While obtaining my Bachelor's degree, I took regular voice lessons from one of the leading vocal pedagogy experts in the world: Mary Saunders Barton. I also studied various aspects of music and performance, such as the art of auditioning, and music theory. I have spent many years performing in professional, regional musical theater productions, and am happy to work on auditions with my students. Curre
ntly, I play gigs regularly in my local area (Philadelphia) and write and record regularly. My songs have been licensed for national/international TV (E!, MTV, PBS, Netflix, and more).
I typically teach my clients either in their own homes (if within 12 miles of me), or online. I can easily accommodate to teach in my own home as well. I have also had background checks completed for the various schools I teach with, and am happy show them to you upon request.
My daughter enjoyed working with Lia. She was patient, fun and helped build my daughter's confidence when she made mistakes and needed to try again. She was an absolute pleasure to work with!

LIa is the right fit for my high school student. My daughter has been taking classic piano lessons since 4 years old. She has been looking for an instructor who will allow her to develop her creative side.
Lia customizes her lessons and has reignited my daughters love of piano.

Both of my daughters love to sing. We signed up for lessons so they could learn their favorite pop songs; one of my daughters also took piano. They've learned how to hit notes easier and how to properly warm up; Lia is great at finding fun ways to keep them engaged while also still learning. The combination of piano and voice for my youngest has been really valuable. I highly recommend Lia for your lessons!
Recent graduate of West Chester University of PA, holding a master in vocal performance, and being a vocal accompanist at the same time.
Earned my undergrad degree in piano and composition, so I have solid piano technique.
Teaching emphasized both on techniques and musicianship, and more importantly the talents and interests of each individual student. Approach is tailor made for different students, so as to achieve their potential and develop their love of singing.
I am a friendly, patient, caring and funny teacher!
I love to play piano, sing, listening to music, and make music with my friends. It's always joyful to do something you are interested in and truly love!
Hoping to share with you all the ups and downs in this wonderful musical journey!

I am a professional opera singer and songwriter. I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors of Music in Vocal Performance, and also hold an Artist's Diploma from the Academy of Vocal Arts (AVA) in Philadelphia.
My students can expect to improve week to week in their vocal technique. I teach the traditional Italian technique of breath support and vocal production. Students will learn to release built-up tension and apply these techniques to unlock their own unique sound. My students learn to sing with freedom, confidence, and expression. I have students ranging every vocal style, from Rock and Pop, to Broadway, Jazz, and Classical.
As a professional opera singer, I have traveled all over the world, sung in the leading opera houses, and worked with some of the best conductors, coaches, and teachers. I bring a weal

"Today was my daughters first session. She absolutely loved it and can’t wait to go back. She said heather was so sweet."
"Fabulous teacher, motivating, inspiring, skilled and dedicated!
My daughter loves studying with Marti. She is able to teach in a way that is understandab
le while also motivating excellency. In the past we have tried other coaches but they have all been disappointing and teach only a song while playing at the piano. Marti teaches full voice technique while integrating the technique with the pieces they will perform. Couldn't be happier!"
"So far, lessons with Ben have been VERY good (and productive! I'm naturally a reserved person, but He has gotten me to push beyond my comfort zone (that i
s "be louder"), which in retrospect has also helped me build my confidence in other areas. So at this point I look forward to having lessons, because I am growing in my understanding of how to use this God-given gift; a gift that's meant to be shared (not hidden away in silence)."
"It was great"
"Lizzie loves taking lessons with Liza. Nancy (me, grandma) is the name connected with the account, but Lizzie is the gal taking the lessons. We- Liz, he
r mom and I are thrilled to have found Liza since this is the perfect match. Not only that, Liza is so much in touch with her student that she teaches her exactly what she needs to learn. We couldn't have found a more perfect teacher for Lizzie! We all hope that Liza will be Lizzie's vocal teacher for many more years."
"Amazing absolutely no complaints."
"Best vocal coach EVER!
Best vocal coach EVER and I canât say enough positive things about her! My voice rocks because of her insights, training and exp

"Anna is very thorough and knowledgeable. She's very pleasant! Has a very good learning environment. Works great with all ages. Highly recommend!"
It's a common misconception that singers and instrumentalists are two completely different types of musicians. They're actually much more alike than you might think! The difference is that, as singers, your instrument is your body! Because of this, as you learn how to sing, you'll likely come across some specific issues of technique.
One of the most important things for singers to work on is singing notes that are perfectly in tune. Generally, producing the correct notes for an instrumentalist …
