Learning to play your instrument at the highest level will make it easier for anyone to play any kind of music they may like. Don't waste time learning to play tunes on sax, but spend time learning to play sax on any tunes. Seems like a smarter way to go to me. I'm all about learning to play as fast and efficiently as possible. However practice and playing time is a must.

Takes the same amount of time to learn to play sax now as it did 175 years ago!

About Kevin

35 yrs of teaching sax and clarinet students Many of my students have participated in Honor Band and All State Band events year after year. I am very comfortable with total beginners, advancing players, and aspiring pros. I currently have students from 9 to 80+ I tailor student lessons to the need

Daine has been teaching piano to my 8 yr old grandson for 2 months. He provides materials, a little homework and is always available for questions. He responded immediately to my inquiry and has always shown up on time. I would recommend him to anyone!
Nannette
Daine is an outstanding piano instructor. His friendly yet focused lessons have dramatically increased my son's interest in piano. His lessons have reinforced the basics while also covering music theory and expression. This has taken my son's performance ability and understanding of piano to the next level. Daine is also courteous, and always on time.

Daine is an excellent teacher that moves at a quick pace. In our family he teaches three different levels: An adult beginning learner, a self-taught teenager who needs to learn technique and music reading, and a 7 year old beginner. He adjusts the level of lesson to match each of us and does a great job. He is always on time and has a bunch of cool resources for us. He also explains "why" we are doing the things we're doing, which I find helpful.

My lessons are very STUDENT oriented. I teach fundamentals, I teach technique, and I really focus on the instrument placed in front of me. Tone, quality, purity, and health are my main focuses. Classical, opera, jazz, musical theatre, pop, rock, whatever style, that’s what I’ll work with you on and guide you to finding your voice, healthy placement, and get you to the level you want to be at.

About Brandyn

Deborah's expertise and professionalism are a pleasant surprise when you consider how young she is. I have met teachers that are decades older than her who do not have the ability to accurately tell you exactly what you are doing wrong or how you can correct it. You hear a lot of, "just keep practicing and it will sort itself out" from other instructors, and this could cause you to develop bad habits that could affect your voice. Deborah is the opposite of that.

She pinpoints exactly what I am doing wrong during my lesson and offers suggestions on how to correct it going forward. I appreciate that because if your instructor doesn't tell you, your audience will. And you might not like how they say it. I am there to go beyond just singing in the shower, and her constructive criticism only makes me better. She is also polite when she corrects you, she's not cracking the whip.

She focuses immediately on different techniques that will help you improve your voice so that you can PROGRESS, instead of just banging out scales on the piano lesson after lesson and overlooking mistakes a student may make like some instructors do. I hate to be this blunt, but there are some instructors I have met in the past who do just that (none of them are from takelessons) to me it shows a devotion to the art and a commitment to bringing out the best voice that you have she wants you to be as good as her! To me no one could ask for any more than that in a voice instructor. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for a teacher.

Deborah is a wonderful teacher. She is patience, caring, understanding, knowledgeable, and motivating. I HIGHLY recommend Deborah as a vocal coach.

Just as she promise ;work on breathing first, usually I like some time go by before I make a comment but the first introduction went so well, I have a positive outlook of my future practice. I have my questions answer and I also understand them as well. I am sure I have more and have confidence they will be answer....

I enjoy working with most of my students, especially those who practice hard. I find all students unique and they response differently to my requests or questions. I feel that very often I need to react spontaneously to their responses. For the beginners I mainly focus on reading musical notes and learning correct rhythmic values. With beginners who haven’t played the piano at all I teach finger exercises written finger numbers only. Then I use Piano Adventures theory, lesson, technique and artistry, performance, and popular music books. Although Alfred’s and Bastien’s methods are well known, I prefer Piano Adventures because they introduce the coordination of right and left hand in more progressive manner. At the beginning the following will be covered.
• Postures at the piano, finger numbers, high and low on the keyboard
• Music alphabet, Intervals
• Musical form, Dynamic marks
• Staff; line notes, space notes
• Time signature, accent mark, legato, staccato
• Basic chords ...

"When I moved to LA in '86, I decided I wanted to find a teacher that could help me get my left hand to be as fast and fluid as my right hand. A singer I was working with suggested I go to Howard Richman. That was almost 30 years ago. To this day, I still go to Howard every now and then for a 'touch up' lesson and...if my time allowed...I would take weekly lessons from him.

To put this in perspective...I'm a very good piano player...one of the better ones in LA. Howard has the unique ability to immediately see what was wrong with my technique and showed me how to get past that log jam I was stuck behind. He not only helped me with my left hand...but his methods of how to practice totally opened up a whole new facility for me to the point where I can now play those Oscar Peterson pieces that I have loved since I was a kid and only dreamed of playing like that. Now..thanks to Howard...I can!

I could go on and on about Howard's virtues, not only as a teacher, but also as a mensch. Let me just add one more thing here. Howard can help anybody who has the desire to play the piano...from ALL levels of proficiency...from the very beginner to the top of the professionals. Bottom line...in my book...he's the best!"

"I have been taking lessons with Ryan for the past three months and it has been a wonderful experience. Although Ryan has an incredible knowledge of music and how to play the guitar, he has easily and graciously adapted his teaching to fit me as a beginner. He is very patient and encouraging and always seems to be able to find things I have made progress in (when I tent to be more focused on things with which I am having difficulty). I like his big picture approach and the way he explains how the chords and scales and different positions relate to one another; I am learning music theory right alongside with learning how to play the guitar. He is always open to answering my questions and giving me further explanations and "tips" to help me with trouble spots. Ryan's easy going nature has taken the stress and temptation to "perform well" out of my lessons and has enabled me to relax and enjoy learning to play the guitar (which is the way it should be!)."

Just For the Trill of It: 4 Cool Things to Try With the Violin

To the uneducated, the idea of playing the violin might not have the same mass appeal as, say, shredding on an electric guitar or rocking out on the drums. Some people might even think of classical orchestras as old-fashioned and stuffy.  But in reality, the violin is far from boring! With the emergence of styles like hip hop violin music, stringed instruments are getting their spotlight in mainstream music more than ever.  And as you continue your studies, you'll learn there are definitely …
