I help singers develop powerful, authentic voices. If you want to sing with more ease and freedom, deepen your understanding of your vocal instrument and learn tools to help you become more confident performing in public whether it be singing or speaking, THIS is for you! Optimize your voice by understanding how it works.
I use multifaceted exercises to help you find and feel the difference in sound immediately, and we follow-up by with learning daily exercise protocols that help develop the muscular structure to create an easily sustainable vocal resonance.
Singing skills we will develop include: 1) Learn how to hear your starting pitch 2) Learn how rhythm helps you count yourself in at the beginning of the song
Learn singing exercises that help you: * Increase your range * Broaden vocal tone * Explore dynamics * Cultivate calm energy * Feel better about your voice
My teaching style is infused with the knowledge that students of voice must be treated with great ...
Are you a singer or speaker who would like a more powerful, authentic voice? My focus is to assist you in finding an easier way to sustain your best posture, breath support, resonance and pitch control by bringing awareness to existing vocal habits while providing a hands-on experience adjusting those habits. My mission is to help you find your most relaxed & elongated posture, breath support, full resonance and best pitch control.
My specialty as a professional voice teacher is Contemporary Commercial Music [CCM] which encompasses genres & sub-genres from Pop, Country, Hip/Hop, Folk, Rock, R&B, Soul, Gospel, EDM [electronic dance music], etc.
I grew up singing freely and naturally until I destroyed my voice thru improper, frequent overuse. I believed my career was over, but it was just starting. Private lessons with vocal professio
nals coupled with academic studies rebuilt my perception of how I was generating sound and their training gave me back MY VOICE, for which I am forever grateful. I combine knowledge from these studies and my own vocal exploration to re-build my voice in exercises that I share with students of voice.
I CAN HELP YOU REACH YOUR GOALS: My cross-training in dance, yoga, Tai Chi, commercial & improvisational acting provides a well-rounded platform from which to deliver information, guide vocal explorers and also help develop talent.
EXPERIENCE: * 20 years teaching experience * 12 years living & working in Los Angeles * A lifetime of performing experience * 12 years personal private vocal studies master teachers of bel canto & contemporary singing techniques.
LIFE SKILLS: No matter the subject, my focus is also teach skills that can be extrapolated into any area of your life. Life Skills focuses on eradicating negative self-talk and expanding communication skills that help develop confidence, enhancing daily life.
Between performing and my own artistic studies, I have been taking the occasional private voice student since 1997, mostly via referrals from friends and other students. While living in California, one of my voice teachers requested me as her regular substitute at Culver City and Santa Monica Music Schools from 2008-2012, which I felt deeply honored. She said she trusted me with their voices, which encouraged me into full-time voice teaching practice. In June 2012, I returned to Minneapolis and began teaching in my home studio through music services like Take Lessons. Past projects include producing a vocal showcase at The Ritz Theater, musical direction & choreography for a school's 2016 production of the Wizard of Oz; assisting students to prepare for local & national auditions like La Banda, The Voice & American Idol; prepping singers for studio recordings and congratulating a new student who's stepped out of the chorus to land her first lead role!
I am forever grateful to all of my teachers, past and present, for their valuable gifts of knowledge, skill, grace and compassion.
ENJOY LIFE MORE! Singing & dancing improves our quality of life.

Thoroughly impressed! Arlys brings a unique style to teaching that is authentic, intuitive and highly effective.
April 25, 2019
Arlys listened well and focused on what my goals are, where I wanted to go with these lessons. I really enjoyed it, she made it fun.
April 17, 2019
I have experienced improvement in my confidence after 5 lessons with Arlys as compared to a decrease in confidence after working with another instructor for near one year (not a TL instructor). I now realize the ability to sing and play piano does not automatically equate to the ability to teach and most especially, the ability to teach someone who was not born a natural singer (such as myself). Arlys is that instructor that embraces where you are and understands the anatomy of the vocal instrument and the science behind making beautiful music (no matter your skills or lack-of). Arlys brings to the table a multitude of experiences that support her teaching style and learning for students with diverse singing backgrounds or no singing background. In a recent session with Arlys, I was introduced to "rock star monitor" which after incorporating it into our lesson, was a boost to my confidence and performance. Arlys is one of my favorite 5 instructors and the only one I am working with one-on-one at this time. I look forward to each lesson and hope she will continue with this teaching platform for a long time to come.
Want to improve your vocal range or improve your technical skills? Want to learn how to sing for the first time? Looking to ask out that special someone with a candlelight serenade? Good news! I can help! I am an experienced music teacher who specializes in making our lessons about YOU and what YOU want! We will focus on pitch, enunciation, breathing, and practice techniques to make sure you sound the best you can! I am friendly, easy to work with, and an expert at encouraging my students. Send me a message and let's talk about what YOU want from music lessons!
Hello! My name is Chris and I am a professional musician and music instructor! I have taught music since 2012 and graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Commercial Music from William Jessup University, where I learned composition, singing, instrumentation, theory, ear training, recording and production and many other skills.
Any student of mine will find that I don't care what "the book" says I should teach my student; I care what my student wants to learn. I will only have you learn a new skill if it is going to further your musical experience and give you the tools to accomplish the goals that you set for yourself. If you wanna learn Mozart, you got it. If you wanna learn ACDC, you got it. If you wanna learn jazz, folk or even rock-a-billy surf polka, then guess what; you got it.
My lessons are fun, relaxed and I will NEVER make
you feel bad for a mistake or a missed note. I will help you improve and get better, but not by shouting at you; we will work together to improve your musicianship, and as long as your satisfied with the lessons and the results, then I will be too!
Now, a little bit more about me!
I am the drummer, background vocalist and songwriter for California-based alternative-rock band, With One Voice. I am married to my beautiful wife, Courtney, who also plays and teaches music! I love rock but I have an appreciation for all music, from rap to country to soul to Broadway to classical; I listen to it all! I believe I can make you better at any style of music (and every style of music) so let's talk about how I can help you accomplish your goals, impress your friends, become a rockstar and learn a new, fun, and exciting skill today!
My daughters, 9 and 12, just started piano lessons with Chris. They have had lessons in the past and were so pleased with their new teacher. My 12 year-old is especially shy, and she warmed right up to him. We are really looking forward to Chris coming for weekly lessons.
October 9, 2019
He was very friendly and encouraging. Made the lesson fun. My grandson did not want to take lessons, but after meeting with Christopher is excited for next weeks lesson. Thank you Christopher!

Chris has been teaching me piano! His technical knowledge is impressive and he makes our time worthwhile. Our lessons are enjoyable and I have learned so much during our time together. If you're looking for a piano teacher, Chris is your guy!
I am not a highly trained singer, but I have taken many voice lessons over the years from various teachers, ranging from western classical teachers to Hindustani classical teachers. My guitar students are routinely made to sing, and I think singing is at the heart of all musical expression. I would love to help you find your voice.
I majored in music at Berea College, then went on to The University of North Carolina School of the Arts, where I completed a Masters degree in guitar performance and served as the graduate assistant to the guitar department.
For the past ten years I have earned a living performing and teaching guitar. I am a certified Suzuki instructor, and I've held teaching positions at Winston Salem State University and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, along with at least half a dozen other schools and institutions. I've been featured on other artists' records, and received a grant to release an album of my own songs. I regularly perform in a wide variety of bands and ensembles.
I love to teach, and over the years I have taught hundreds, maybe even thousands of lessons. Having learned something from each and every one
of my students, I am now at a point where I excel at honing in on the individual interests and learning styles of whoever comes to me for help. There are many ways to learn guitar. The best one is the one that engages and inspires you the most. That said, there are also music fundamentals that we all need to know. My joy as a teacher lies in finding a way for you to master the fundamentals while at the same time following your personal bliss and intuition. We plot the course together, combining your curiosity and enthusiasm with my years of experience.
I also love working with kids. While they are having fun jamming, I discretely provide them with the technique and musicianship they'll need to excel in any musical environment, whether it's conservatory study or playing in a great band.
*** Lesson Details *** Your enthusiasm is the key to your success, so my lessons are tailored to the interests and abilities of each student. That said, my classical background and dedication to effective teaching inform everything I do.
All of my students learn Music Fundamentals: -Technique (habits of movement) -Theory (how music works) -Aural skills (hearing pitches, chords and rhythms clearly)
Many of my students use books. There are hundreds of great books these days, and I will work with students from any book they choose. Listed here are the books I regularly use. They all deliver great results:
-Aaron Shearer "Leaning The Classic Guitar" -Will Schmidt and Greg Koch "The Hal Leonard Method" -Joe Pecoraro "Read This First" -David Oaks "Music Reading For Guitar" -William Leavitt "A Modern Method For Guitar" -Mateo Carcassi "Melodic and Progressive Studies, Opus 60" -Leo Brouwer "Simple Studies"
Many of my students prefer to work without a book, and that is a great option too. These students learn scales, chords and theory and develop a repertoire of songs. I will show you how to play any song you'd like to learn. You can also work on writing your own songs or compositions, or improvising in any context, be it jazz, blues, Indian raga or flamenco.
Singing is also encouraged!
*** Studio Equipment *** Home studio: music stands, extensive library of all kinds of music, great sound system and ability to stream any song, several guitars, recording equipment, footstools, keyboard and percussion instruments.
*** Travel Equipment *** I'll bring my guitar and books, accessories as needed.
*** Specialties *** I specialize in versatility. I regularly play gigs doing classical, jazz, blues, rock, pop, and world music. All of these genres have a place in my heart, and I've devoted years to learning to play and teach them well.
I am equally polyamorous when it comes to the various things musicians do. I love to sing pop songs, dissect jazz lines, delve into expressive groupings with classical pieces, drill scales and arpeggios, you name it. Reading, improvising, composing and notating, transcribing and playing by ear, memorization, classical technique, blues technique, bluegrass technique, theoretical analysis... hit me up for any of that, or whatever else interests you.
I have been studying Broadway singers for years. I have been a Musical Theatre performer for years and I am still studying singing, acting and dancing. I am still young and know what it feels to want to better yourself everyday, so I can relate to most learning students. I put a lot of importance to vocal training, technique and warm-ups.
Lehman College, Bachelors of Fine Arts, Graduate! I am a Musical Theatre Performer. I perform all the time and believe that warm-ups are a big importance when it comes to performing. Technique is something I have been studying for a while, and I am consistently learning what new techniques work for myself too. I teach singing, acting and other subjects too, check them out!
As a vocal coach, I specialize in helping the singer find their inner artist, the part of them that expresses creatively AND transmits emotion to the listener.
After producing hundreds of recording projects, and having an extensive and versatile musical background, I love helping singers find their artistic VOICE.
Classical singers need not apply, pop only I'm afraid...
I've been making music since I started piano lessons at 6 years old. I love teaching and have been doing so privately and in classroom settings throughout my career.
My wife and are empty nesters of three children but no grandchildren yet... .
Musically, I started with classical piano and progressed to jazz and pop music as a teenager. In junior high, playing trumpet in band progressed to playing bass in jazz ensemble. Finally, acoustic guitar satisfied my need for something to play songs with that was more portable than a keyboard.
Initially, my desire to be a studio session musician resulted in pursuing a wide variety of musical skills, instruments, and segments of the music world. From arranging and composing for orchestra and rap albums, to audio engineering/consulting and music typesetting, my experience became very di
verse. Loving so many styles of music, I played professionally such diverse things as salsa piano, folk guitar, jazz bass, and funk drumming. I also love teaching and have developed curricula for several schools as well as guest-taught at numerous universities and conferences.
career highlights: -international touring with multiple artists and bands, 45 countries -record producer with 100+ projects and developed producer curriculum for audio trade school -conference speaker and guest university instructor all over the world teaching music and creativity -skill on multiple instruments and styles as well as extensive experience in the world of audio and teaching music theory
teaching highlights: I traveled quite a bit as a guest teacher/speaker, so an exhaustive list is not practical. Some highlights include:
-Oral Roberts University - Tulsa (8 years in multiple roles) -Southeastern University - Florida -MediaTech Institute - Texas -LPI Hernhutt - Germany (3 months) -Created to Worship - England (2 years) -and of course, numerous conferences, clinics, workshops all over the place
I've been asked numerous times "how many instruments do you play?" Well, I can get around on most anything. However, I don't play anything bowed (like violin or cello) nor the steel guitar. The instruments I teach are those I have the most background and have played professionally with.
Please contact me if you have any questions, I would love to talk with you!
My 6 years old son wanted to take piano lessons and it was always my dream to learn to play on piano as well. I am happy we found Austin. He has skills and patience to work with kids, which is impressive. Austin motivates and encourages them, so they enjoy playing. I am enjoying learning piano as well and my dream is coming true!!!

Very good mentor and teacher, feels less like a teacher and more like a friend
My coaching is unique in that it focuses on the entire performer, not just part. How is the voice produced in a way that is healthy and natural? What sets you aside from other performers? My students have high success rates in musical theater to commercial and classical styles. My focus is tailored to the individual with a healthy, firm understanding of technique and style.

My family moved to the U.S. from France 1 year ago. Mr. Jeff is able to conduct lessons for my children in French with no barrier. He is professional and my children remind me at the beginning of week for their weekend lesson days away. It is a highlight.
Development of proper breathing and vocal technique.

"When I first met Carl I told him I love to sing but couldn’t carry a tune. Well he changed that fast. My singing improved to a deeper and more vibrant
sound after only two lessons. I’ve now completed the 5 lesson package and the results are nothing short of amazing. Not only can I carry a tune but I do so with a powerful operatic style voice that I didn’t even know I could do. But Carl knew. He brings out the best in you.
Carl teaches you techniques that focus on the foundation of voice development. I learned how to increase singing range and to hold notes. Lessons and exercises are very effective. Carl is a professional singing instructor who is committed to his student’s success no matter what level or style of singing. Now I understand why Carl gets such consistently high ratings. Based on my experience it is very well deserved. I highly recommend Carl to help you achieve your singing goals."
"Jake is knowledgeable and a great singing teacher."
"I learned more in my first lesson than I did with my previous singing teachers!"
"Very lovely instructor. It's only the first session but learned a lot about my breathing techniques"
"Francesca knows her stuff. I was trained classically in the bel canto classical style when young, and now am doing "commercial" hard rock - but never ha
d that type of training, and want to maintain my singing health with whatever I'm singing. In just a few fun lessons, I've already gotten so much value from working with Francesca. Her ear is tremendous. She goes over the "what" of singing as well as the "how", and makes it easy to learn for anyone who has the "why" (ie, the passion to sing, no matter what style). I've never met a voice teacher that can so effortlessly and willingly transition with me in styles and technique, from opera to Iron Maiden! I'm stoked to be working with Francesca and you will be too!"
"Marissa is an excellent teacher. My daughter is very pleased with her. Marissa makes her feel comfortable and enthusiastic. Marissa is very patient and ma
kes every lesson fun and productive. We are very glad we found her!"
"My Favorite teacher! She is super nice and good at teaching! She helped me get into the piano and keeps me moving forward<3
"Jenny is patient and always has a smile. She is warm and inviting. Stress free teaching with some laughs to boot. 😚We love you Jenny! Great teacher!"
"Danielle was just amazing with our daughter
Our youngest daughter has an amazing singing voice, but was shy and not always confident about her talent. Sh
e took from Danielle in high school in tandem with performing with a local Junior Theatre group. Danielle's encouragement and training helped her win solo opportunity after solo opportunity and gain confidence about her stage presence. We're so lucky to have been able to work with Danielle - our daughter will enjoy and share her talent for the rest of her life."
