I am an accomplished vocal coach and songwriter and currently work with a wide variety of singers from young beginners to professionals who look to develop through ear training, singing and songwriting. In a unique way I guide people to become better performers and musicians through the combination of voice, piano and composition.
Creativity, skill and love of music are the key elements that I work to encourage in every student. Over the years my teaching has evolved and I find it gratifying to take people far beyond their own expectations while helping them achieve their goals. I believe everyone is musical and just needs the right key to tap into their own creativity.
For beginners it's important to study with an excellent teacher. Setting a solid and creative foundation makes all the difference! For advanced players studying with a great artist takes you greater artistry.
Weekly private lessons focus on technical skills in either piano, voice (or a combination of both) and a strong musical foundation. Theory and Ear Training are fundamentals that are embedded in this approach to developing a complete musician and artist.
I have over 20 years exper
ience working with students as young as 3 and old as 85! Often multiple generations in a family study together making for a rich family experience.
Performance opportunities: Recitals, Concerts Cabarets and Musicals are a part of developing into a musician and singer and enhancing a love of music that will last a lifetime!
*** Lesson Details *** Piano - Classical, Jazz, Blues and Improvisation. Current students are beginners to professional musicians and music teachers.
Voice – I am an accomplished vocal coach and songwriter and currently work with a wide variety of singers from young beginners to professionals who look to develop through ear training, singing and songwriting. I work with students as young as 3 or 4 and into their 80’s. It’s important to begin with an excellent teacher from the start to set a good foundation and to have the ability to develop as quickly and thoroughly as possible. I enjoy working with beginners as well as accomplished musicians. I also believe that music is one of the great joys of life and that lessons should be FUN!
Besides a wide variety of performance opportunities through my Family to Family Concerts, I also offer my students the curriculum and exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, a gold standard music curriculum.. *** Specialties *** A message from Robert: Hello, I am a master teacher focusing on the classical repertoire along with a very creative approach to improvisation and composition. I help students to achieve their interests of music rather than focusing on teaching one particular method. Classes are tailored to the student and constantly evolving. This has led me to work in a variety of mediums and styles including Jazz, improvisation, rock and blues. This approach also enhances an understanding and love of classical music. I also guide my students in the curriculum and exams of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. (ABRSM) Exams are offered twice per year. I have also found it inspiring to work with people with disabilities and help them find a way to express themselves musically. I give lectures and workshops in the area and around the country on improvisation and creativity along with concerts of my own music. I also work with a number of students in vocal coaching and accompanying. New this year are seminars in songwriting for adults and children. Groups of 4-5 collaborate on new songs. Film and video composition coming soon!
Find your voice and sing your best! I love helping students to use their instrument (voice), to sing the styles they love. Whether it's rock, jazz, R&B, country, musical theater, or opera in a foreign language, we will work together using your favorite songs, warm-ups, and a few tricks to help you feel comfortable with your voice, and to reach your goals!
I offer a fun, interactive teaching style that encompasses more than 20 years of performing and 15 years of teaching experience. As a performer I have worked as a professional singer, actor, musician, and dancer. I have always had a passion for teaching, directing, and composing. While my love for performing has lessened over the years, I have found my true calling: teaching, directing, and helping others to find their passion for music and the performing arts. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a special emphasis in music, theatre, dance, and psychology. I am a graduate candidate working on completing my thesis as my final requirement for a Masters of Arts degree in Music at San Diego State University. I have a lot of knowledge and experience in understanding the art of singing. I've studied with some of the best voice teachers out there and have many amazing exercises that will help you to glean some insight on some of the physiological components of singing- breathing, chest voice, head voice, mix voice, and falsetto that will in turn expand your range and enhance your overall tone.
A fun, friendly, and professional Music Instructor at your service for Voice, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drums, & Ukulele! I have a BA degree from Florida Atlantic University in Music Performance for Classical/Flamenco/Jazz/Blues guitar and I've also performed on the Piano/Keyboards for a couple different bands too. Love to play & teach pretty much all styles of music! It is always a pure joy & truly rewarding to see my music students grow and flourish in their musical abilities. I have been enjoying doing this now for 20+ years- all ages & levels. I am also in a multi-dimensional rock project and a recording artist with my band Vision.
I believe it's important to learn the rudiments of music to build a good foundation (scales, chord vocabulary, theory, song-composition, performing techniques), but I also base the lessons on whatever th
e interests and strengths are for the student. For example, if you enjoy jazz more than classical we'll focus more on what you are particularly passionate about. I have also been a part of School of Rock Programs in which we provided performances for the students a la Jack Black. Please contact Takelessons to let the musical journey begin...
Do you love to sing? Have you always wanted to learn? My three-step approach makes it easy and fun. You will learn powerful techniques for developing your voice-tone and ears. You will develop a killer repetoire of your favorite music. And you will learn valuable tips on stage-presence, confidence, and charisma.
Hi! I am a private music instructor offering lessons both in-studio and online. I hold a Bachelor of Music Degree from Berklee College of Music, where I graduated Summa cum Laude, and I have over 36 years' full-time experience as an instructor.
I also have over four decades of experience as a professional jazz, rock, and theater musician. My experience has taken me from nightclubs to concert stages to churches, as well as television studios, radio stations, and many recording studios.
Finally, I am a published author with several titles dedicated to helping musicians becoming the best they can be.
**** MY TEACHING STYLE ****
My teaching style is often referred to as laid-back, gentle, informative, and very supportive. My focus is on enrichment, encouragement, and results.
I don't work with “one-size-fits-all” methods. Ea
ch lesson is customized to make the most of each student's own unique abilities, limitations, preferences, and interests. Whether students prefer, or do better with, traditional materials, playing/singing along with their favorite recordings, improvisation, or anything in between, I am more than happy to accommodate and bring out each student’s best!
I teach real music -- students begin playing music they love almost from day-one. For example, many of my piano and guitar students pride themselves on learning to play every song on the Beatles One album ... playing right along with the CD! Reading, playing by ear, improvisation (jamming), singing while you play ... there are so many ways to play and avenues to explore in music.
**** MY STUDIO ****
My studio is spacious (very spacious – no cubicles here!), well-appointed, and very quiet. Unlike music stores and multi-lesson facilities, there are no other lessons on the premises, no drummers going crazy on the other side of the wall. This means students can concentrate better and learn faster. There is also plenty of room for parents and siblings who may wish to sit in on lessons.
**** STYLES / GENRES ****
I believe that students make the most progress learning music they love and I am very happy to teach every student the style of music he or she loves most.
My most requested genres are: pop, rock, country, blues, classic rock, jazz, and classical. Some students arrive knowing exactly what they want, but most are happy to explore various styles that interest them in search of the perfect fit. It is not at all uncommon for a student to spend part of their lesson polishing up a Beethoven piece or jazz standard, then finish up playing the chords to “Hotel California” along with the CD. Another student might start off their lesson learning a Taylor Swift hit, then move over to doing some blues improvisation. Variety is a wonderful thing and it is highly encouraged!
**** MY STUDENTS ****
Over the years, I have taught students from four years old to eighty-somethings. I’ve taught absolute beginners (most of my students start from square-one), hobbyists, seasoned professionals, even a Grammy nominee and a Grammy winner! Many of my young students have gone on to perform in school bands / jazz bands and/or professionally. In all cases, they acquire a skill that will last for a lifetime and provide joy, enrichment, and satisfaction.

I have just started guitar lessons with Stan and the lessons are going very well. It's exciting to be learning note reading which is something I have always wanted to do. Stan is thorough and clear in his instructions and I look forward to each lesson. I feel lucky to have Stan as my teacher.

Stan is very knowledgeable about singing, and he teaches more than just voice lessons. It seems like he looks for the best in you as an artist, and try to take it to another level. I'm a new student of his, and it's been great so far. Looking forward to the weekly lessons.

Stan is obviously both knowledgeable and talented but he is also a very good teacher and will tailor your lessons not only to your ability but also to your own personal goals
Singing can be scary, especially in front of people. I take a very laid back approach to singing lessons in my studio. We begin with a quick 5-10 minute vocal warm up and then jump into a song the student has picked to learn. We focus on tone, lyric memorization, emotion, pitch, breathing, enunciation, and confidence in the lesson.
Hi, there! My name is Jennifer and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2014 and have loved helping my students play by ear, learn to read music, and improvise pop songs. I went to Temple University in Philadelphia and earned a degree in music production. I'm a stress free and easy going person and my teaching style is catered to the student's interests, long term goals, and personality. I look forward to helping you reach your goals!
My teaching experience began while working as the music teacher at a day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities called SpArc Services in Philadelphia. I taught private piano, voice and guitar students through a studio called Philly Music Lessons for 2+ years. I also was the music teacher for the Lansdowne Presbyterian Pre-School in Pennsylvania.
I teach my students out of my comfortable home/studio in Van Nuys, but can teach online and travel to you. The regular styles I teach are: Pop, rock, RnB, improvisational piano, classical voice/piano.
Very good natured, and easy to take instruction from.
More suited to electric guitar enthusiasts, than acoustic players. I would recommend Jennifer.

I want to teach you how to shine! With over 10 experience in teaching, my goal is to make you as comfortable as possible with your instrument. Singing is about finding YOUR voice. It's there. We all have one. Let me help you take control of your voice so that you can share it with others confidently. I studied voice under Florence Birdwell at Oklahoma City University. I spent five years on the road touring with Broadway shows. As a singer/songwriter, I've opened for Jewel, The Steve Miller Band, and many others. Let's work together to expand your repertoire and get you comfortable with multiple genres and singing styles.
I'm a professional singer, songwriter, and recording artist living in San Diego, CA. I've spent the majority of the last 7 years touring the country and sharing my music with audiences of all ages. I graduated from Oklahoma City University where I studied with the one and only Florence Birdwell. After college, I immediately moved to NYC and started touring nationally with Broadway musicals. I moved to San Diego in 2012 to pursue a more commercial music life. I've opened for Jewel, The Steve Miller Band, JOHNNYSWIM, Chris Isaak, Emmylou Harris and more. I've released 3 solo records since 2013 and have provided vocals on countless projects over the years. I continue to have regular gigs around San Diego and focus my tours up and down the west coast. In 2016, I spent the majority of the year completing 400 hours of yoga training. Explori
ng the voice through movement of the body is essential in my teaching. I absolutely love tearing through the layers of our vulnerability to find the true voice within. Discovering our voice is a journey, and I look forward to taking on that adventure with you.
Kinnie made me feel welcome and at home from the moment I met her at her studio. She is authentic, friendly and very experienced ... and I’m so excited to partner with her on my vocal training/singing/creative adventure!

A Pro of Pro’s, Chaz Shepherd’s multi-faceted vocal approach has landed him the Staring role in “Chicago” on Broadway, principle lead in “The Color Purple” on Broadway and male lead in “Dreamgirls” National Tour among other major theater productions. Chaz can share and teach the vocal approach that he used during his Solo Carnegie Hall feature performance as well as his Carnegie Hall duet performance with Legend, Valeri Simpson. Even in his earlier years, Chaz won the vocal championship of “Star Search”.. remember that?! Ha
“Stevie Wonder” has also enjoyed the backround vocal arrangements that Chaz Shepherd contributed for him, for a grand christmas performance. “Chaka Khan” trusted Chaz with producing her on a tribute recording for R&B star, “Fantasia” (whom Chaz co-starred with on Broadway). Chaz Shepherd’s lead vocal performance on the Grammy Nominated West Angeles “No Limit” album (on-which he wrote the title song), still brings him acclaim around the country. Chaz’s vocals have ...
Chellooo! I’d love to share and teach you my process of excellent vocal performance, both live and studio. I’m not used to selling myself, but for the sake of convincing you, here we go..ha: I’ve been featured solo at Carnegie Hall, Grammy Nominated Album, arranged backround vocals for Stevie Wonder, produced Chaka Khan, duet with Valerie Simpson, backround vocals for Bebe Winans, toured with Roberta Flack, lead in “Chicago” on Broadway, co-star in “The Color Purple” on Broadway, and am a iTunes top-ten indie artist.
I’ve taught vocal performance for approx 15 years. Because I also play and teach piano, I’m able to share effective technique for musicians as well. We can do this! My goal is to help you master Your vocal. Let’s work out Your gift!
"She is really great. I learn a lot from her. I'm glad to be her student"
"Excellent teacher - professional, very experienced and personable.
I am thoroughly enjoying my singing lessons with Alayne Archer. Alayne is very profess
ional and has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of vocal technique. She is an excellent singing teacher who very personable and encouraging."
"Today was my first lesson and I was very apprehensive of my ability as well as the whole lesson experience. (because of my age) Kenneth, made me feel ve
ry comfortable and he made me feel that my voice could get even better with the techniques that he will teach me. I feel very positive about going forward with my lessons."
"Judy is experienced, knowledgeable and patient. I noticed an improvement in my voice after only two lessons. I can’t wait until my next lesson."
"I've meaning to write a review for michelle for some time. I took singing lessons before and had a really crappy experience. I was very nervous to sing in
front of someone and the past teacher made me feel even more uncomfortable. I decided a few months ago to try again and figured if I couldn't find someone near me, online lessons would be the next best option. I slowly went through all of the teachers and chose michelle based on her good reviews. Michelle has been a blessing. Im slowly learning to be able to sing in front of others and really developing my voice which were the two biggest challenges for me. The lessons are great and I get so much out of just 35 mins. Wish I had more money to spend more time with her. Regardless of your ability if you want a comfortable, knowledgeable, experience go with michelle!"
"If you're looking for someone who is professional, educated in her trade, easy to work with, extremely kind-hearted, and just plain knows her stuff, Jan i
s the one! My daughter has been taking lessons by Skype since February 2014 and has developed her singing and performing skills tremendously. Jan has been able to connect with her on deeper level than her previous singing teachers. My husband even commented on how he's noticed her self-esteem and confidence improve. We recently participated in a 5 week workshop with Jan. We drove 5 hours each way once a week just to study with her. I would give her more than 5 stars if I could!! : )"
"Sarabeth was amazing with our 8 year old son! He loves singing but has never had any formal lessons. She was very kind. If he did not understand somethin
g on the 1st attempt, she would change her approach and explain in a way that he could relate to. She made it fun for him. Also, sarabeth has been easy to work with and was willing to ajust her schedule to fit us in befor my sons talent show.."
"I had my first lesson with rachelle and being really nervous in the begining she totally hit a home run. 1 lesson and never had any music training in my l
ife she explained everything and as the lesson went on I gained more and more confidence she is so knowlegable and really knows how to convey it in simple terms that I could understand. I am so confident in her ability that I will reach my goal. Its real exsiting. Oh yea by the way I just turned 65. Great person and excellent teacher."
"Ben Is a great instructor. Worked with my Boy over the summer. I would highly recommend him."
Whatever your views may be on singing competitions, they are a scary but helpful rung on the ladder to the next level of understanding how to train your voice. And whether you're participating in a local festival, trying your luck on a television show, or participating in a major international competition, the rules for preparation and how you conduct yourself are pretty much the same.
