Typically, I use the Suzuki and Strictly Strings books for beginner students, and I will then advance to etude studies such as Wolfarht and Sevick in addition to the Suzuki sequels for my intermediate students. Lastly, I will add Introducing the Positions, Mazas, Josephine Trott Double Stops, and solo concertos to my advanced students.
About Stephen
*** Lesson Details ***
My lessons offer an extensive education in technique, musicality, music theory, and most importantly, effective practice methods that increase capability and skill rapidly. I tailor my lessons specifically according to the student's abilities and strengths, while incorporating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

After a few months, my students acquire a well rounded knowledge and feel for the violin and classical music and appreciate the art and beauty music brings to life. They are always strongly impacted and inspired to pursue and achieve higher goals and activities.
*** Studio Equipment ***
In the music room there is a piano and music stands, and music available for purchase if necessary.
*** Travel Equipment ***
I would bring my own instrument, but would expect my students to have an instrument, stand (or a piano is fine), music (if it is not a first lesson) and a willingness to learn!
*** Specialties ***
I specialize in classical violin, and I have worked with the Suzuki Method, but I am also very open to other methods and schools. I also teach varied styles of violin such as fiddle.

About Elicia
In addition to my musical career, I am also heavily training in the sport of ice dancing. Currently, my brother and ice dance partner, Stephen, and I are 3 time national competitors at the championship level with plans to compete internationally. Through my experience as a performer both in music and on the ice, I can give to each student not only the ability to create music through the violin, but also the mental ability to handle performing and competitive atmospheres.

All of my students learn to love playing violin first before getting into the nitty-gritty, which we do! My lessons are student-led, meaning, which ever level you are at is where we start and it's up to US to get you to the next level. Each week you will learn scales, exercises and performance repertoire. I have taught violin for thirteen years and my students have excelled by moving up chairs in school, participating in honors orchestras and more!

Students can except immediate improvement within a matter of weeks, especially in the following areas: technique and posture, musicality, breadth of repertoire, confidence in performing, and general interest in your instrument. Many of my current and past students have acquired an insatiable urge to practice at every waking hour, and a mutual feeling of "I can't wait for our lesson!" quickly develops.

I am currently a student at Bryn Mawr College. I teach violin and viola lessons. I have played the violin and viola for 12 years and over the course of my 4 years of teaching, I have taught over 15 students on both violin and viola. I usually work with children or teenagers and I can teach someone who has never played an instrument before as well as intermediate players. I use a variety of books that teach theory, rhythm and playing songs so the student gains confidence in preparing and performing "performance ready" pieces.
At college, I am principal viola of the Bryn Mawr-Haverford Orchestra and I also am part of a chamber music group. In high school, I was in the Maryland All-State Orchestra for four years and was in the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestra (MCYO), one of the most prestigious orchestras in Maryland, for four years. During my summers, I attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts high school music program. I have been taught by musicians from the National Symphony ...

I also played violin & keys for FMU Rock Band. I played Principal 2nd for the Florence Symph Orch & The SC Dance Theater, Florence Little Theater, & Lake City Theater. I was Concertmaster for the Audubon Symph & KOP Players. I played Principal Viola & Assistant Concertmaster in the Hazleton Philharmonic Symph Orch. I played both viola & violin to help the Ursinus College Orch as needed. I also compose & arrange music, & I have published original works.
I like all different genres of music & offer lessons in whatever you're interested in. Celtic/Irish fiddle is a passion of mine. I've been teaching for over 15 years. I only teach adults, & I offer performance & ensemble opportunities to students! I'm ...
About Debra
I am very laid back and try to make lessons as fun and stress free as possible. I am classically trained and know a great deal of music history, which helps to understand the music. I will challenge you, but I will make it fun in the process!
I like to let students choose something to work on, outside of their lesson material, so that they are able to play something entertaining and that holds their interest. I am definitely not the average classical musician.
