I teach piano in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play a certain style like Funk, or Blues, or how to approach a classical sonata. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.
Thanks so much for taking the time to inquire about studying music with me.
Music and studying music has always been a passionate experience for me. I have been so blessed with the teachers and fellow musicians in my life. You should realize that your study of music may start with me, but it will last your entire lifetime. I hope that all of your life you will have a rewarding relationship to music and the spirit of great sounds!
I have performed in great jazz clubs in New York, on Broadway, and performing arts centers across the country. I'm currently playing in many great performing ensembles. I have put out two CD's as a leader and played on multiple CD's for other artists.
It has been my pleasure to teach privately, as well as in the classroom for 15 years. I enjoy performing many different types of music. I pri
de myself on being very open minded in terms of musical taste. Never apologize for liking what you like! I bet there is something in that music which is great. I can't wait to learn something from the music you introduce to me.
I be glad to provide a full resume to anyone who requests it.
*** Lesson Details ***
My most important goal for each student is that they get to where they want to be musically.
I want the student to be able to play the way he or she wants to play. If you want to learn to play one song, that is great! If you want to learn to play one classical etude that is just as great! If you want to learn how to play in a salsa band, bravo! I treat the desires of my students as my curriculum. Each student will receive special prep time from me each week. I pride myself in taking the time and energy to prepare for each meeting. Every time you complete a lesson, it is my hope that you are walking away as a better musician.
In the beginning I hope to find what will musically interests you the most. Usually, you might have a goal that requires you to play on a higher level than you do presently. If that is true, we might take some time to figure out a road map to get you to that place. Along the way, I'm sure you and I will learn many new concepts and techniques that aid you in becoming the bassist/musician you want to be.
And rest assured, the teacher always learns from the student...this is the best part of teaching: learning from the student.

What can I say?! My son has been taking from Keith for 8 months now online, and I am in amazement at the progress he has made! He is playing piano like he has been taking for way more than short of a year. After working hard on theory, my son is now learning to play favorite songs. He said today that Keith is challenging him to figure out some parts by year. If you have a question or doubt about what instructor to choose, I can tell you right now. Choose Keith!!! You will not, can not be disappointed!! Thank you Keith for all you have done. Thank you also for being consistent in your lessons and always staying in touch. With over fifteen years of experience, I am passionate about teaching piano in a way that leaves each student truly inspired at the end of each lesson. The piano is the most logically laid out instrument for new learners. It's also my favorite one to play! You will learn scales, arpeggios, ear training, notation, music reading and the repertoire you love, all while maintaing a sense of improvisation and flexibility. I work with children of any age...including adults. :)
My name is Lucciana (Loo-Chee-Ah-Nah...I was named after Italian opera legend Luciano Pavarotti).
Background: I began formally studying music at age six. I spent my childhood and teen years participating in choir, orchestra, private instrument lessons (piano, voice, violin, Dobro), musical theater and I also played in local bands with musicians much older than I was at the time.
I became a music teacher for the first time at a small music store in 2009. I absolutely fell in love with sharing the skills and techniques that had helped me become a lifelong musician and I have been teaching ever since.
Instrument Lessons: My main instrument is the Dobro slide guitar. It is a very unique instrument that I love to share with people. I have equivalent experience with piano and voice instruction. I also teach guitar and ukul
Other Types of Lessons: I have run numerous songwriting workshops for all ages and I do one-on-one song coaching as well. I've been a professional songwriter for over a decade, and I love helping people refine and enhance their writing craft. We are all writers deep down! I will help you unlock your inner voice and express yourself using the power of music.
Summary: I have extensive experience working with a variety of age groups and special interest students. My areas of expertise range from young children (0-5) and adult beginners to live performance coaching for future professionals, songwriting coaching/feedback, and ear training.
Most importantly, I am passionate about teaching music in a way that leaves each student connected to the joy of creative play. No matter what age, skill level, or instrument, I fully believe that music meets you where you are and enriches your life in exceptional ways. I will work with you on what you wish to learn, incorporating skill, music theory, dexterity, technique, improv and repertoire into your curriculum in a way that leaves both of us inspired at the end of each lesson. I look forward to meeting and working with you!
I have played piano since I was five-years-old. I had an amazing teacher who was always engaging and fun -- I strive to be like her with my students. I generally use Alfred or Bastian Methods to start out and then adjust according to my students' needs. I encourage daily practice and always am willing to consult with parents of younger students on how to implement this. I also love to encourage my students to chose music they'd like to learn!
I am a friendly, outgoing, and passionate music teacher! I play the harp and piano and absolutely love to spread the joy of music. I started playing the harp because my grandmother was a harpist and I thought it was the most beautiful instrument. After all these years, I still love the amazing sound of the harp. I completed my degree in Harp Performance from University of Denver's Lamont School of Music where I received a well-rounded education in both performance and academics (including theory, history, and technology). Please let me know if you have any questions- can't wait to get started!
I‘m a composer, pianist, conductor, and certificated teacher (in my country). I have been playing piano for 23 years. As a performer, I was admitted to Piano Major in the first two years of my Bachelor's Degree. I was one of the best pianists in my undergraduate school and switched to the Composition and Theory major to learn more knowledge (piano GPA was preferred to be high by most composition professors to accept this switching). I also have a teacher license issued by the Education Community by my country, and this license is required if anyone in my country wants to be hired by the government as a teacher. I was commissioned by Maryland University and Bowdoin College Museum to write music for them, and also cooperated with a director and had written and performed music for two of her movies.
I love to work with students. I‘m a composer, pianist, conductor, and Chinese-government-certificated teacher. I have been playing piano for 23 years, and have been playing flute for 17 years. I am familiar with music theories and traditional music history from the ancient and medieval to the twenty-first century in details as any other professional composer, so if you are curious to listen to a story or even gossip of someone like Bach, Haydn or Mozart, I can tell you one sometimes. As a performer, I was asked to play as principal flutist in my middle school wind band and was also admitted to Piano Major in the first two years of my Bachelor's Degree. "Ms. Dilys is an outstanding piano teacher. She always knows how to help her students become better musicians. She assists them with practicing and advises
small details that make their music come alive. The lessons she teach are full of fun and learning."
"Good so far, first one so getting bearings but should be what I need, very helpful and supportive"
"In the last few months, I have progressed considerably. Bill helped me be more confident on my playing, and to rely on sheet music rather than memorizatio
n, which was what I used to do. This in turn allowed me to learn many pieces in parallel, and be exposed different types of pieces. He also helped me learn an anime song that I wanted to learn despite it being slightly out of reach for my level."
"The first piano lesson was truly great! I am glad we found Charles."
"Christina does a great job and my daughter really looks forward to her lessons!"
"Jacki is the only instructor my daughter wants! She has an enthusiasm and love of music that is contagious to all around her. She is patient with her stud
ents while leading them towards larger and larger goals! Highly recommend!"
"I am an adult student with some piano in high school who began lessons in January, 2015. Erica is a brilliant musician. She is always ready when I arriv
e, fully able to remember where we left off, and always making sure that I make progress. She is 100% professional. I have learned so much from her about music theory and composition -- it has been great."
"Matt is great. He is very patient and customizes his lessons to the students needs and interests. We have been using him for over two years and my teenage
son has developed a passion for the piano and enjoys exploring and learning new concepts. He has learned the gambit of songs from classical to rock to pop and more. It is a pleasure to see my son take an interest in the piano and great to have a teacher that encourages him. Also,I get the benefit of enjoying beautiful music."
Need to work on your major or minor scales? Piano songs abound by both classical and contemporary pianists that can help you improve your skills. Here, St. Augustine, FL Heather L. shares her recommendations.
Even as a piano teacher, I can be sympathetic to students who find themselves practicing major and minor scales over and over without any variation. Scales are often cited as the least favorite part of taking piano lessons. Sometimes, well, a lot of the time, the best way t …
