I don't just teach from the book but tailor lessons to the interests of my students. I also introduce students to Korean culture by visiting Korean restaurants and tea places.

About Hannah

I am an experienced Korean teacher from Korea who has taught all levels of Korean to English speakers. I tailor my lessons to the interests of students and make my classes interactive. I develop customized lessons to reinforce the material from the book and reinforce grammar topics. On occasion we even go on field trips to local Korean restaurants!!!

I recently began taking lessons with Hannah and it has been a wonderful experience. I went in intimidated at the thought of learning such a difficult language from scratch, but Hannah has been a very helpful and encouraging instructor and makes the language so much more manageable. I've been rather amazed by how much Korean I have been able to pick up in such a short time and have no doubt that I can become fluent eventually under her instruction. Anyone interested in learning Korean should absolutely take lessons with Hannah!

My son and I had our first lesson with Hannah. It went very well. Hannah is engaging and patient. She really understands that studying Korean is no easy feat and takes the time to explain things to e Janice our comprehension.

Do you want to know more about Korea and the language?
I can help you.
I am an experienced Korean language partner from University of Miami for college students since 2015.
From beginner to intermediate, I will be your Korean conversation partner and teacher.

About Hyojung

Hello, my name is Leann.

When I was 5 years old, I started my piano training in classical and jazz piano.

I studied Jazz and Pop Piano at the Post Modern Music Dept. at the very famous Kyung Hee University (in South Korea). This is the same school that produced pop stars like Rain, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun, Primary, Big Bang’s GD and Daesung, TVXQ’s Yunho and Yoochon to name a few.
Since I was in College, I’ve been teaching pop and jazz piano to a variety of students, from beginner to the experienced, at all age levels. I understand every student is not the same, so I make it a priority to adapt my teaching style to match a person’s learning style to maximize the learning session.

While providing lessons to a variety of students, I joined multiple bands and jazz groups playing various genres such as, alternative rock, hip-hop, p

op, and fusion. In these groups, I played piano concerts, played for various video projects, and also multiple studio recordings.

After I graduated with my Bachelors, I wanted to develop my music knowledge as a jazz composer. Therefore, I prepared and studied hard, and was admitted to the very competitive University of Miami Studio Jazz Writing program which is top 3 in nation for music programs. Since then, I’ve made Miami my home. In addition to playing music, I have been teaching Korean to UM students in their Direct Independent Language Studies program.

In Miami, my music creativity has grown and I have met amazing musicians. From 2011 to the present, I have arranged, composed, and continue to perform in various fields.

I believe my various experiences will help me teach you to learn the piano in any style you choose. Doesn’t matter who you are, what your experiences are, I will guide you to learn the piano, whether it be for professional reasons or recreationally.

I wanted to find someone who was knowledgeable to help lead me in the right direction in my Korean studies. I've been studying Korean at home and Herena has been incredibly helpful as a tutor! I went in knowing a tiny bit of very basic Hangul. Herena worked with me and with the book I had already purchased for studies. She is knowledgeable and personable. As a native Korean speaker I trust that she knows what she is talking about. Herena is also very friendly and relatable. Super cool that she uses the topics I am interested in for the lessons and offering cultural and historical facts as well. I've learned so much with her, you can't go wrong if she's your tutor!

"We really like Youngju! She’s very patient and encouraging. She’s doing an excellent job keeping my daughter engaged and interested"
Sophie
"Great lessons. My 8 yo daughter is enjoying her weekly Korean class."

"I want to take the opportunity to say that my Korean teacher, Youngju Lee, has been an amazing teacher for me this past year. I was altogether without any
ability to speak or write the Korean language at the beginning, not one syllable could I understand, but there I was, engaged to a Korean girl whose parents were quite conservative. I had to set them at ease and show them I welcomed Korean language and culture into my life. Ms. Lee started me with the basics, the written alphabet, the vowel and consonant pronunciations. She was always clear and patient and her lessons were well paced to my achievement; it was a well conceived plan, each lesson leading into the next and there is always a sense of accomplishment as each lesson was integrated into the previous. Since Ms. Lee is a highly educated native of Korea, she knew everything, all the intimate details about greetings and levels of respect in Korean culture. My meeting with my wife's parents was a success, and they were very pleased by how well I understood the Korean side of things. I remember at dinner handing the kimchi bowl to my father in law I remembered: two hands, not one! My bows were well rehearsed as well. We had a great time together and I owe it to Ms. Lee's teaching. I have enjoyed our time together and will continue to do so in the future. Thank You, Ms. Lee!"

"Suyeon is an excellent instructor and has helped me expand my proficiency in medical Korean. Although I didn't expect her to know medical Korean terminolo
gy, she has gone out of her way to research terms to teach me how to use them properly. She will work with your needs and ways of learning. She is patient and very respectful. If anyone wants to learn Korean from a well qualified instructor who is easy going and patient then I would strongly consider Suyeon."

"So sum up my rating all I can say is: My Teacher is the best! She is flexible, patient, forgiving, kind, and the list just goes on. I just wish I had time
to be a better student for her. Don't become too popular, someone might bump me from my time slot :0) Thanks for all you do Youngju."

"Hello, I have worked at Kodaikanal International School in India for three years. KIS received the #1 school award by Educational World in India in 2013.
It’s a co-ed residential school with beautiful surroundings on a high mountain. It was my honor to have my teaching history there with my terrific students and professional colleagues. I would like to share my recommendation from my principal here. You can find the original copy in my photos:

9 May 2012
To Whom It May Concern
It gives me great pleasure to write this recommendation on behalf of Youngju Lee. Youngju has taught Korean language and Arts at Kodaikanal International School since July 2009.

Kodaikanal International School is an international school located in Tamil nadu India in South India since 1901, making it one of the oldest schools in the country. It was originally a school for American missionaries. It has been an international school since 1974 and currently has a student body representing some 30 nationalities drawn primarily from within India but also in lesser numbers from various geographical regions that include countries located in Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Americas. KIS has also been a preferred choice of families of Indian origin settled abroad when they have wanted their children to have exposure to India and Indian culture because of its multicultural approach and the diversity of the staff and student body.

Youngju is an excellent teacher and I have enormous respect for her work in the classroom. She works well with students, is positive influence with the students and is able to encourage them to achieve their best. She uses a variety of approaches in her classes from group and individual work. She establishes a good relationship with her students, explains things carefully, prepares well and has a very effective yet relaxed delivery style. She has a positive rapport with her students and they demonstrate mutual respect and they enjoy learning. Students feel well supported in her class and enjoy her classes. She also cares for her students outside of the classroom and follows up on any concerns she or others may have of an individual.

Youngju has played an active role in extracurricular activities through her participation as chaperone on field trips, organizing events and student activities.

Youngju and her husband Stephen have settled well into the broader community in Kodaikanal and enjoy their life here with their family very much. In conclusion, I believe Youngju would make a good contribution to any school community. Please do not hesitate to contact me for more information about Youngju Lee.
I recommend her wholeheartedly as an exceptional teacher and wish her well.
If more job specific information is required please contact me on principal@kis.in or on my mobile #----------.

5 Best Korean Learning Apps for Beginners

By Maile Proctor

The best way to learn Korean is through lessons with a Korean teacher, but supplemental study materials - such as Korean learning apps - can be very beneficial for language students as well. Learning to speak Korean can be challenging, especially for English speakers. The language has a different alphabet, Hangul, and it contains sounds that aren't found in English. Fortunately, between YouTube lessons and language learning apps, there are lots of helpful resources available. Check …
