My methods vary from student to student. I focus primarily on ear training, applications of chord construction to learning solo's, songs, and chords, and reading guitar tablature when a student is lost. I believe guitar is an especially creative instrument and do NOT focus on reading sheet music as a part of the student's learning experience. An emphasis is also placed on performance as well as proper technique to avoid injuries. Listening to music is an extra-curricular activity that should be done every day with a special emphasis on hearing what the 'greats' do with a magnificent piece of wood in their hands.

About Greg

I have been playing guitar for over 14 years, played in four different gigging bands ranging from country to jazz to improvisational funk. I taught music theory, guitar, and bass at M.E.A. Music in Lexington Park, Maryland for 3 years and currently teach and manage at the School of Rock in Arnold.

I tailor my lessons to each student's unique learning style, and create specialized lesson plans for every student. What works for someone may not work with someone else! I do my best to cultivate a fun, educational environment in my lessons, and make sure that students are seeing progress along their musical journey.

Hello and welcome! I started teaching guitar lessons after school in 6th grade to fellow students and our teachers alike. From the very beginning, my ethos has been centered around striving to serve the individual and helping them to achieve their goals. I've only become more passionate about that over the course of almost 20 years of teaching and I look forward to working with you!

I have been a touring and studio musician as well as a musical director and record producer for over ten years on electric and acoustic guitar, pedal steel, bass guitar and singing. I'm passionate about teaching YOU, not just teaching notes or chords or licks. Everyone learns differently and I look forward to creating for you what all of my amazing teachers have created for me over 25 years of learning: a safe space to let your guard down, be who you are and work your hardest to be your best.

About Ryan

Hello! I have been a studio and touring musician for over a decade. Currently, I play guitar and pedal steel as well as background vocals for Amos Lee, Heather Maloney, Seth Glier and many more. As a left handed player myself, I spent a lot of my upbringing learning by visual example and so I try my best to pass the necessary thoroughness needed for most students to comprehend a concept on guitar. Additionally, I’m fun. I try to cater my lessons to the personal music tastes of students in order to make the learning process more enjoyable. Additionally, as a lefty, watching me play for most is like having a mirror image to work from, which can be helpful.

"I've been working with Ahmad for a little more than 2 years. I'm one of those folks that had the intention to learn guitar for many years, but never got over the hump. The Summer that I started taking lessons with Ahmad, it really took off for me. He's fantastically talented and skilled, but he makes it clear that his abilities came with a ton of work, and he gives you a system to get the best results out of your own practice time. He'll work with you on any song, and seems to have a taste for just about any genre of music (especially if its got some good guitar). He'll teach you some theory and get you to read music, but patiently diet this out while recognizing your excitement to learn songs (at least, this is what I'm putting him through, and I imagine others would to). He'll give you practical drills for learning scales, chords, rhythm, etc., and find ways to overlay them so you can start to stitch things together. "Putting it all together" is still a work in progress for me, but I've been pretty happy with the results over the past 2 years, and I've iteratively "ratcheted up" my expectations for where it can all go, heavily due to Ahmad's encouragement. I hope to keep getting lessons from him for a long time!"

"Playing the guitar has been on my bucket list for a long time and I finally started taking lessons. I am so happy my first try was with Ahmad. I have been with Ahmad about a year and half, maybe more. Ahmad has so much knowledge and experience I get a really deep instruction from him, from chord formation and music theory and primarily practical practice learning my favorite songs.
Ahmad is relaxed and kind and that goes along way too."

"I had the pleasure of having Adam instruct me the basics of acustic country guitar for a few months. By the end of the lesson , I was able to play three songs from start to finish and was really happy about that! Adam is patient and skilled and I would definitely book him again for another session."

"Jordan was very helpful right from the start. He listened to me on where I am at and where I want to be. He showed me a few things that we will work towards and then helped me understand my instrument much better. Gave me some fun new things to practice before the next lesson. If you're looking for a lesson that is interactive and fun I recommend Jordan and the online thing is supper easy and handy. I don't think it could have gone any better. The lesson was 45 minutes and it felt like 10."
