Jessa D.

Cumming, GA

About Jessa

Ms. Jessa has been teaching private lessons since 2005 and is currently available to teach lessons at her in-home studio to a growing number of students. Ms. Jessa has helped students master difficult repertoire, compose original pieces, refine advanced technique, and build the confidence to perform publicly.

Ms. Jessa received her training through a personal mentorship by the foremost piano teacher in Vermont, USA. A natural talent, Ms. Jessa is continuing her education through private lessons at a very advanced level, regular performances, and composing original as well as arranged piece
s. She combines her musical training with her expertise in early childhood education and development to create a unique experience for parent and child. A child centered practice; Ms. Jessa’s teaching style is individual, fun, and developmentally appropriate.

Currently Ms. Jessa is actively improving her business in specific ways:

• Expanding the studio library & organizing it efficiently
• Integrating a fun music history program to complement lessons
• Developing more effective ways to strengthen hand and finger dexterity

• And more!

*** Lesson Details ***

Students are required to practice diligently and Ms. Jessa encourages students to track their practice in age appropriate ways. With incentives for practice there is constant motivation from day one to succeed.

Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons but Ms. Jessa asks that you be sensitive to the difference in your child’s behavior in and out of your presence. Children will often be more at ease without the watching, but caring, eye of a parent. However, parents are not discouraged from attending with their child.

Recital participation is mandatory as it is an important factor in your child’s education. Please be supportive of your child’s pending performance even if they are timid; if there are concerns please bring them up with Ms. Jessa.

Students with special needs are assessed on a case by case basis.

Great Teacher!!

My 10 year old Son, has been taking lessons from Jessa for about 6 weeks now - he has learnt in leaps and bounds from Jessa. She is very patient, kind and very precise in explaining to my son, she is very clear and has a great way with children. I have appreciated her professionalism, and especially helping him believe in himself and build his self confidence. This has been a very positive experience in many ways. I highly recommend Jessa as a piano teacher - we love her!!!

For most of us drummers and rhythmatists we cannot go an hour without banging something or tapping or humming or moving.. if this describes you or your child then Im the guy who would be delighted to foster your development in your lifelong pursuit of the ultimate beat. I cannot give you God given talent , but I can take what talent god has given you and accentuate the positive. Work with you on fundamentals, technique, timbre, timing, tuning, sight reading..the list goes on..Its a lifelong pursuit..How long you choose to pursue it is up to you.. Im here to be your mentor.

Im pretty laid back with teaching discipline. Either you got it or you dont. I cannot push you or force you into practicing.. You must inherently love music and love rhythm and love drumming or percussion. If I am working with you on Kit drumming you will be starting out with the basics unless you have experience. I normally do an assessment to determine where you are at.. If I am teaching you hand percussion or African or Asian based drums then its strictly an aural based learning experience. No books just memorization. Kit drumming will require either you have your own Drum kit if I am coming to your house or of you travel to my studio I will have 1 drum kit to share , but you must have your own sticks. I do employ books in Drum Kit lessons. I will give you the names of the books based on what I think your level is and we can go from there..

Music is a complex yet beautiful language. Once you are immersed in the culture of the beat your journey thus begins. And journeys like these last a lifetime. I hope I can be a part of your experience.

Many Blessings
One Rhythm
One Love

Keith has been great so far! He is very passionate about music and Broadway and his enthusiasm is very motivating and encouraging to my daughter. He teaches the technical aspects of voice but also offers insight about performing, auditioning etc which is helpful for my daughter as she is fairly inexperienced but is hoping to be more involved in high school and local productions.
