There are several aspects to performance that I can help a guitarist with. The chief one is solo performance and improvisation which I have taught many students even kids in school bands who need to improvise in the jazz band and don't know how. Another aspect is how to use a guitar amp properly at higher show/concert volumes as far as tone settings and use of effects. Makes a huge difference when you know the insider "secrets". So you can even bring your amp for an "amp lesson".

Skills and technique for voice and piano are the important foundation, but all students are taught to entertain in addition as part of the lessons. We work on staging and presentation. Getting in front of an audience and feeling comfortable on stage are an integral part of learning to sing or play. We work to build confidence as we practice how to introduce ourselves, talk about our music to an audience, move on stage and more.

There are many routes and discoveries toward becoming a singer and here are a few of the steps.
1) Memorize musical selections and routines, or sing following printed text, musical notation, or instructions.
2) Interpret or modify music, applying knowledge of harmony, melody, rhythm, and voice production to individualize presentations and maintain audience interest.
3) Observe choral leaders or prompters for cues or directions in vocal presentation.
4) Perform before live audiences, or in television, radio, or movie productions.
5) Practice singing exercises and study with vocal coaches, in order to develop their voices and skills and to rehearse for upcoming roles.
6) Seek out and learn new music that is suitable for live performance and/or recording.

Yuichi has been a really great teacher for our 7 years old son. He is very patient and really great with kids. He's made a real effort to get our son interested in drumming and music more generally, introducing to different sounds, rhythms and types of music. My son really enjoys his lesson and is making good progress!
Yuichi inspires you to improve, and shows you how. Simple as that.

Stephen is a great teacher, actor, and singer, in addition to being a wonderful guy. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in any of his varied services."

As an improvisor his main influences are Sonny Stitt, Dexter Gordon, and Joshua Redman. For any jazz musician on any instrument he is a master instructor of bebop. His overall playing versatility is solid but his forte is bebop. He is simply a beast of bebop and can aptly guide you along the path of musical enlightenment. Also, like most great jazz musicians his piano chops are excellent."
