My experience speaks for itself. From Drum Corp to being on tour to studio work to theater shows there really is not much I haven't played or taught, I focus a lot on how to practice because not many people really know how to practice the right way to get the most out of their performance.

I have a background in fundamental rhythm, rather than teaching the student to simply play, I teach them to read and write their own rhythms and drum beats in a fun and hands-on manner using methods that music teachers around the country use in their classrooms. Furthermore, I have years of experience teaching children as young as 4 years old from their very first lesson. I’ve developed my own method for children to read drum music using simple and an easy to understand rhythmic language.

As a Beginners course, this is suitable for complete beginners who have never played drums before. Its also helpful for self-taught drummers who want to go through all the basics and fill in any gaps in their playing and improve their technique.

Course Objectives:
Develop a full range of beats, rhythms, fills and breaks
Execute Single strokes, double strokes and paradiddles
Establish Good posture, grip, sticking and hi hat technique
Learn to play with a click and develop a better sense of timing
Understand & execute Techniques for playing songs in a contemporary style
Percussion skills
How to choose and tune a drum kit

They will learn within the first 6 months how to:
Play Their first ever rhythm and break
How to play single and double strokes and paradiddles
How to understand drum notation
Correct posture, grip and sticking technique
Warm up exercises
A great range of 8th and 16th note rhythms
Learn the drum part to a slow song of their choice.

For the past 40 years, I have had extensive experience touring and teaching around the world in Asia, Europe and the US. I have recorded 200+ CD's in Rock and Jazz. I am able to bring my vast experience to students enabling them to reach their potential and become the BEST players they can be!

Able to teach everything from hand percussion (Congas, Bongos, Djembe, etc.) to full drum kit. Also will cover music theory and teach drum notation. All genres. Online students are expected to have equipment prior to lessons. If you do not want to begin with a full set, please have at least a practice pad and drumsticks.

I have been teaching drum for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I look forward to working with you.
