When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

I had never taken a voice lesson before, but she has been so patient and helpful with me, and I noticed improvement even after the first lesson.
She takes time to personalize songs, lyrics, and styles in order to fit my individual characteristics.
She is quick to give encouragement and tell me that something is good, and she also gives feedback to improve in a funny, lighthearted way.
And although she is very modest and humble, I've heard her sing a few notes, and she has an insanely good voice!! Not to mention she also has perfect pitch and is a master at the piano."
