Multiple students of mine have been accepted into Stuyvesant High School, as well as various other prestigious schools, including Townsend Harris, Bronx Science, and Brooklyn Tech.

I open students minds to advanced logical processing and am efficient in helping students process faster in engaging manners. This has proven to be both academically as well as practically beneficial to my students.

I tutor people in manners that dramatically improves their GPA and gives them the tools, work ethic and processing capabilities to accomplish beyong 90+ GPA levels.

One of my students came to me with a below 78 GPA. After tutoring the child for 7 months, his GPA
had increased to above 98 in the second marking period of his first semester of high school. I taught him to process faster, work with discipline so as to focus better, and be determined on top of course materials. About Cathy
I teach sewing, mostly, but also design clothing and knitwear. I can drape and draft patterns, hand spin and weave, embroider, make lace, style wigs, and am an all-around crafty gal. I graduated with a degree in American Studies from Mount Holyoke College. My background includes over 20 years of building theatrical costumes, wardrobing Broadway shows and regional productions, restoring and reproducing museum textiles and costumes, and dressing the runway shows of NY Fashion Week. I believe we are what we make and glitter is evil. I live in New York City with her husband and their very spoiled Tibetan Spaniel mix Ollie.

I am currently working toward the completion of a Certificate in the Appraisal of Fine and Decorative Arts from NYU.

I am highly conscientious, focused, and competent, and well as thoroughly charming.

Cathy was great. I had a project that I was working on and she was very willing to work with me on it vs. a fixed curriculum. She taught be botton hole making as well as how to use different aspects of my machine. I was really happy with the lesson and look forward to the next one. Thanks so much Cathy.

About Ellen
Whether you want to begin knitting or crocheting, or already love to, there’s always something new to learn. I love all aspects of knitting and crochet - color, texture, and creation. And I love sharing all this with my students. I personally enjoy the math of it, and can help make it easy if math is not your “thing”.

Would you like to learn basic skills, hone current ones , or enhance your experience with new techniques? If you're in the middle of a project and need help, or have specifice technique(s) you'd like to work on, consider booking a 15 minute class, or a series of them.

Choose from these subjects, or tell me what you’d like to work on:

• Reading the Yarn Ball Band - Why the information on it is helpful and important
• How to use Ravelry - A knitting community full of useful information
• Fiber Math…Yes you can
- How to understand gauge and yarn weights/quantities.
• How to Read and Translate Charts
• Help with a Current Project – Understanding a pattern, technique, or correcting a mistake
• Knitting Lace and Openwork Basics – How to do increases and decreases
• Bead Crochet – Crochet necklaces and bracelets, or embellish knitting or crochet projects with beads.
• Hyperbolic Crochet – For those that love math or want to learn how to crochet curves from a flat surface (think of coral, or the edge of a curly lettuce leaf like kale)
• Your wish list of knitting or crochet skills…

I have been teaching since 2012 and am available to teach lessons online and in NYC. I learned teaching skills from some of the most loved and respected teachers in well-known stores, teaching venues, and events. I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals, and have fun while we work together. As an added bonus, I teach both right and left handed as needed. Do you need a time, place, or topic not listed here? Just ask. We can probably work something out.

Enrich your fiber crafting experience. What would you like to learn? Contact me and let’s get started.

Hello! I have been tutoring for nine years, and I have a Master's degree in Astronomy & Astrophysics. I love teaching, and I make sure to incorporate real-life examples into my math and science problems to help people develop an appreciation of the subjects. When tutoring French, I add elements of culture that I have learned from my multiple trips to France (including an entire summer in Paris!) to make the language come alive. Book a lesson with me and see how I can help you achieve today!

Crochet lessons: I have been crocheting for 14 years, and I love to get creative with it! I make stuffed animals, blankets, and articles of clothing both from patterns and from my own imagination. Whether you've never held a crochet hook before or just want to learn some new skills to add to your repertoire, I would love to help you pursue crochet a
s a hobby (or even a business!).

Allison is VERY sweet, patient and thorough! I really enjoyed working with her. I learned SO much in just one hour!! I was hesitant about taking the lessons as I've tried lessons at my local Michael's store but didn't get much out of it. One on one with Allison was the right decision. If you are just thinking about it - DO IT!!! You won't regret it. I'm looking forward to next week's lesson with Allison :)

I can't say enough great things about Melissa. I had done some very basic knitting previously, and she taught me so many new tips and tricks in a very short amount of time. She's friendly, patient, and has a true passion for the art of knitting! It's inspiring to hear about the fun projects she's working on (usually as sweet gifts for other people). If you take a class from this super smart gal, you won't regret it!

Melissa was a great instructor for knitting. She walks you through each step and makes sure you completely understand the process. She walks you through casting a stitch, different stitches needed for each project, and how to go back and correct a dropped stitch. Her lessons are thorough and great for building the foundation needed for knitting well. She makes it simple enough for a beginner to understand and does so with humor and charm. I highly recommend Melissa!

About Sabrina Jacqui
I first learned how to sew from a wonderful woman teaching in-home sewing lessons! Her one on one lessons helped catapult me into the skilled sewer I am today!

I have been sewing since then for about 13 years now. I started my own clothing brand in high school where I created every item by hand (pattern-drafting to sewing). I then went on to receive my BFA in Fashion Design from Massachusetts College of Art and Design where my construction skills advanced. I am currently working on custom design commissions in NYC.

My sewing teaching methods are unique in that I have both sides of the equation to offer--structural/basics and creative/fashion. I am happy to work with any student on what they choose to focus on and what they are excited about gaining from the lessons!

**Please note: I am not offering pattern-drafting lessons as I a
m not skilled enough to teach that. I am still learning and teaching myself those skills every day!

Sabrina was the most incredibly knowledgeable, patient and helpful teacher. I had just a rudimentary understanding of sewing but with a few short lessons she helped me so much to do so many things. Her knowledge of everything to do with sewing and fashion is just astonishing and her work is impeccable. I would highly recommend her to anyone who wants to learn more about sewing or construction.
