Fantastic instruction. Patient, clear, and ensured she was meeting my daughter where she is at. Significantly more productive class times compared with our last in person teacher.

I have been learning from Jonathan for the past two months. She is a very supportive and patient teacher. I was a complete beginner when I first started, but after one to two weeks, I can play easy tunes like Twinkle Twinkle. Whenever I have any questions regarding the violin, she can give me helpful solutions. When I have lessons with her, I can immediately know where I need to improve and gain a few extra tips on my playing.

I would highly recommend Jonathan to you (people who are browsing on Takelessons)!

I had my first lesson with Jonathan today. He is personable, informative, gave constructive feedback and encouraged me. I found his style of instruction helpful.
I’m looking forward to my next lesson with him.

I've been playing saxophone for 28 years, and professionally for over 20. My journey has taken me from beginner in school band to one of the largest music schools at the university level. I've played in a multitude of professional settings including clubs, festivals, tours, and recording studios. I'm classically trained but specialize in improvisational music, jazz, latin, and funk. Over the years I have been fortunate to play with and learn from some true masters. I can teach you the techniques necessary to perform at the highest levels and have fun doing it. Whether you want improve you sound, learn to sight read, learn songs, or play over chord changes at a jam session I'm confident I can help.

About James

I'm originally from the Dallas Fort worth area of Texas. I started playing in the sixth grade and immediately fell in love with all things saxophone. In the seventh grade I began private saxophone lessons and I became addicted. In high school music was the single most preoccupation of my days. I wo

My son started to play saxophone a few years ago and he really liked it up until this year. Not a lot was happening with band lessons online this year hence no progress and no motivation. I reached out to Michael with the only goal in mind: to spark the passion to play saxophone for my 12y.o. son again. We've already had a bit over 10 lessons and my son loves his lessons. I can see really good progress but most importantly he wants to play. It's not a chore for him any more. It's actually fun and he enjoys it. Now we can build on that. Michael has great attitude and communicates with kids very well. He definitely has a passion for music and it translates to kids.
Liam
Michael has great energy and excitement for the music. He picked a great fitting piece to work on with our teenager. He helped our son to remember why he loves music and recapture some lost skills with all the COVID down time. Thank you!
Heather
My son looks forward to lessons every week. He loves the music recommended by Michael to practice and has improved in tonality and technical skills. It has been a great experience.

"excellent instructor and a wonderful person

I have been taking music lessons with Daniel since April of 2013 and it has been a great learning experience.

I had no musical background and I started learning Saxophone with Daniel and 7 months later, I am able to play popular songs that he chooses to fit best for enhancing learning curve. He does a great job with reinforcing correct habits from the very beginning and has been very encouraging and has highlighted improvement as we go from class to class. As music learning can be frustratingly slow, the feedback and reassurance he provides definitely helps in keep going back for more.

I wanted to learn guitar and piano with him as well, he encouraged to learn only Piano (for enhancing learning curve for musical theory concepts) and hold guitar for later. Which speaks about how he is genuinely concerned about your learning of music with sound reasoning. So now I take guitar and Piano lessons with him. He is very patient, polite and professional. He is great with students of all ages and easily modifies teaching style as per student needs.

Besides all that he is a great person to talk to. Numerous times we have had great discussions about things outside music.

I would highly recommend Daniel for music lessons to everyone."

It was my very first time ever playing the sax and Andrew was very patient and understanding, teaching me the basics, answering any questions I had, and showing me how to play some songs. "Incredibly amiable, professional, and talented as a teacher.

As a senior in high school now graduating and transferring into college, I started my lessons with Dimitry in December last year and had to end this summer at the end of the music school's program. Even though my time learning the saxophone was short, Dimitry used my past musical experience to help guide me through the instrument. His lessons did not feel long in any sense of the word, and in fact some two-hour lessons I took to make up missed weeks blew by, as I was constantly engaged by his teachings. During my studies with him I found myself in the presence of a true musician, and this was only further driven home when I saw him play in the Hanover Wind Symphony at the Morristown Community Theater with Stanley Drucker. I would highly recommend Dimitry as an instructor for a student at any level."
