I took 5 lessons with Ed, very great instructor. I learned a lot in those few lessons. He helped with with my pitch and with my accent that I had to prepare for an audition. With his help I was accepted into my high school’s A cappella group “Madrigals” and overall I would recommend. We made it work and tried to make the best out of the situation. Great experience:)

My kids thoroughly enjoyed lessons with Ed (both guitar and piano). Lessons started with my 7yo and when his brother turned 4yo, he started as well.

I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for many of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. Other excellent methods are the Ed Sueta Book, Rubank Method, Breeze Easy, Achievement in Excellence, and perhaps the First Division Method Book. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method. I always play my instrument along with the student so that he/she can hear how the music is supposed to be played in regards to the notes as well as the rhythm! This way, we all have fun learning!

Mr. Eugene is an excellent instructor. He is informative, positive, and able to accurately assess the needs of the student. We didn't miss a beat with the virtual lesson, I felt it was as good if not better than any face to face lesson. We would highly recommend Mr. Eugene for violin (or piano), his extensive music knowledge and experience added an invaluable foundation to the instruction. Thank you!

Excellent Teacher

I am an older student and I started to learn to play the piano more than a year ago under a different teacher. I started with Eugene about 4 months ago. I was struggling with the piano previously. But after just 2 lessons with Eugene, I found myself playing confidently. Eugene explains so clearly and everything makes sense to me now. I enjoy practicing everyday now. He is excellent teacher, patient, and very professional. He is always on time.

"My daughters, 8 and 6, took lessons as beginners from Melody for 10 months before we had to move. SHE IS AMAZING! Not only did she make the lessons fun and engaging, but they learned so much in that short time. I grew up playing piano, violin and French horn and I was very impressed with her approach/methodology and how much of herself she put into her teaching. For the last 3 months we were with Melody, the girls also took voice lessons. The highlight of our spring was watching the girls perform at the recital Melody had so painstakingly organized. It was astounding how much they had progressed musically and my husband and I were in awe at how well they performed in front of people. We were also impressed at the wide range of experience in the students Melody taught. Some had played for years and were clearly continuing to blossom under Melody's tutelage, while others were beginners like our daughters. Melody was always positive, encouraging and extremely patient (even when my six year old had clearly not practiced for a week straight or was tired and whiny). My daughters and I miss her dearly as our mentor and now our friend! We cannot recommend her highly enough."

"I have been studying with Kelvin for 2 and 1/2 years. I chose him because he was the highest rated teacher in my area. The rating is well deserved. I have found him to be an excellent teacher: patient, respectful, encouraging and extremely knowledgeable. I am well satisfied with my progress, especially since I had no prior musical instruction and yet was ambitious enough to take up the piano at the age of 67. I expect to continue with Kelvin for the foreseeable future, as I have not yet found the limit of what I can do."

"Piano Review for Robert Hitz
As part of my goal in life is that when I turned 60 I wanted to have something creative that would enrich and fulfill the latter years of my life. Having watched my aging father play piano was an image I have always appreciated. My father had been my piano teacher as a child and I was ready to get back into piano. I found Robert Hitz, my piano teacher, through TakeLesson.com. I have been taking piano lessons with Robert now for 10 months. Takelessons.com really made it easy to find Robert who was only 5 miles from my home.

It has been the best 10 months that was totally unexpected. What I didn’t experience as a child, that I do now, is I have a genuine love of music that feels inherently inside me. My father and son are both musicians and I now realize I must have a natural instinct for music and a love I never knew.

Robert has made the experience absolutely wonderful with his natural gift for teaching and making you feel totally at ease when you feel totally illiterate and lacking confidence. While I learned piano as a child, I totally lost the ability to read music or remember any scales, chords or composition.

Here is what’s great about Robert. You learn everything you need to learn, but in an unconventional style. He has taught me everything from chord progressions, scales, reading music and being able to totally improvise my own piano compositions. From understanding the basics, he has enabled me to just sit at the piano and make beautiful music that I create. My husband has been in total support and awe of how far I have come in the short 10 month time.

I work full-time and truly have little time to practice. Again, Robert has a total appreciation for the busy life of his students and works around the fact that you may come back each week with having had little to no time to practice the prior lesson. One of the best parts of my lesson is when Robert “drives” and I get to play along improvising to his music. He picks a scale and we just play together. I call it doodling on the piano and it is really awesome to feel so free to just listen and play along making beautiful music together. I walk out of every lesson feeling so elated and motivated knowing I am getting better and better. Practicing is pure pleasure and dramatically reduces the stresses of life and work.

I have a new appreciation for listening to music. I’m an avid power walker and now I listen to piano music while I walk. We fill our home with music and the stress levels just take a nose dive as soon as we put the music on. Listening to the intricacies of music has given me a total peace of mind that was unexpected and a true gift.

Robert has a great following of talented and gifted piano and voice students of all ages (children, teens, college students and adults up into their 80’s). We have been to several of his student concerts. One of my favorite venues is the Cabaret in Germanos Restaurant in Little Italy. Great food, great music and so much fun to get to meet and listen to all of Robert’s students. Robert creates concerts all year round with his students either at his home or in around town. Such a great way to meet new and really interesting people that are different from your usual crowd of friends.

If you are considering taking piano or voice lessons, go for it and meet Robert for yourself. I can’t say enough how great he is as a teacher and now a friend.

"I’m an adult learner and was overwhelmed with the idea of jumping back into piano lessons after a long stint away and not a lot of foundation to start from. I enlisted the help of Gabriel and found his patience, encouragement and thoughtful teaching style put me right at ease! After a few lessons I was on my way and managed to stumble my way through a big chunk of a complicated song I had been wanting to learn! During this uncertain time in history where we are all self-isolating to protect ourselves and each other, I think there is no better time than to pick up where I left off and start my lessons again. I’ll be resuming online lessons with Gabriel again and encourage you to do the same! You won’t be disappointed. 🙂"
