Singing is a very personal and transparent art form. Performing takes skill. It takes practice, commitment and fearlessness. I believe anyone can learn to sing with applying learned skills in these ways. It all comes dependent on the artist and time, but I believe in you and it can be done.
Lessons:
It is very important to feel comfortable when learning something new so that you are not afraid to fail. Getting over the fear of failing is the initial part that will free you to experiment with your voice and really grow. You will find a safe space here to do that.
In our lessons we will work on vocal agility, range, improvisation, healthy singing and healthy projection, diction, harmony, different genres and music theory.
I am so excited to get to know you and your voice and how much you will grow!

When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

Aside from doing the all-important breathing and scale work I learned the secret of an effective vibrato. She explained it in a very simple way. For me it was a revelation to think of it like this; an immediate breakthrough for me!
I was sent home with some breathing exercises and scale work as well as how to effectively sing the song I had brought along to work on with her.
Cyndi has a beautiful soul and is a very effective and positive teacher.

You may have heard the comparison between musicians and athletes before. And for singers, repeating those tendencies may even leave you with permanent vocal cord da …
