Singing should be fun and easy! I have a Masters and a Bachelors in music, and have sung all over the world (Germany, Italy, England, France, China), and have taught private lessons for 8 years. I love music, and am a firm believer that everyone can learn to sing. What is most important to me is that my students all sing with a good and healthy technique, so they can sing whatever style of music they want for their entire lives!

About Molly
I am a professional singer who performers all over the world, as well as all over the United States. I have been passionate about music since before I could speak, I love the way a good song can change my mood, express the words I can't say, or make me think about something in a new and different way.

I have my Masters in Music from San Francisco Conservatory of Music, and a Bacherlors in Music from Oklahoma City University. I have taught privately for almost 10 years, and love seeing my student's success when they learn a new skill or gain confidence in themselves and their instruments.

I can teach classical music, music theater, pop, jazz, basically any style of music out there. The most important part of my teaching is that my students have healthy technique so that they can sing whatever they want for as long as they want!

I am a beginning adult voice student. Molly is a wonderful teacher. She is friendly, organized, and reliable with communication. I trust her guidance in technique, vocal health, and repertoire assignments. Molly is skilled in teaching many different styles of singing. Some days we work on classical, other days we work on musical theater, and on occasion she throws in some Janice Joplin. I walk away from each lesson energized and ready to go home and practice!

About Rachel
Mezzo-soprano Rachel Abrams has captured audiences throughout the United States with her rich and warm timbre, beautiful blend, and dynamic stage presence. A native of Stockton, California, Rachel was born into a musical family and quickly developed an affinity for the performing arts. She first fell in love with classical music as an oboist and gradually found her niche as a singer through her passion for languages, literature, and theater. In the fall of 2012, she relocated to Connecticut where she continues to be an active performer of opera, oratorio, art song, crossover, and new music.

Most recently, she was seen as the mezzo-soprano soloist in Capella Cantorum Masterwork Chorus and the Old Lyme Congregational Church Choir's performances of Handel's Messiah, the mezzo soloisit in Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat with the Stamford C
horale, with Hartford Opera Theater as Elise in Dawn Sonntag's Verlorene Heimat, Pythia in Nkeiru Okeye’s We’ve Got Our Eye on You, and as Miss Paige in Dan Shore’s An Embarrassing Position which was nominated for Best Featured Ensemble in a Musical through the 2015 Broadway World Connecticut Awards. She has also performed with Opera Theater of Connecticut, Connecticut Lyric Opera, Madison Lyric Stage, Greater Worcester Opera, Revolution Opera Alliance, the Simsbury Light Opera Company, and the Greater Meriden Concert Chorale.

Prior to moving to Connecticut, Rachel lived in St. Louis, Missouri, where she frequently performed with the St. Louis Symphony as a member of the St. Louis Symphony Chorus. She has also performed with Winter Opera St. Louis, Union Avenue Opera, and the Southern Illinois Music Festival. In 2012, Ms. Abrams had the opportunity to be a sponsored young artist with Winter Opera St. Louis where she performed the role of Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos, covered Musetta in La Bohème, and performed in the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical review: A Grand Night for Singing. Ms. Abrams has also performed with Opera Fort Collins, Loveland Opera Theater, Victorian Lyric Opera, and Opera Classica Europa in Bad Schwalbach, Germany as an apprentice artist. Additional operatic credits include Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte, Giannetta in L’Elisir d’Amore and Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Theif.

A passionate performer of Jewish music, Ms. Abrams was featured as a soloist in Martin Bresnick’s puppet opera, Der Signál, with the Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra during the 10th Annual Celebration of Jewish Arts and Culture at Charter Oak Cultural Center in October of 2014. As an active performer of art song, Ms. Abrams has collaborated with various musicians throughout the New England region to create diverse and accessible art song recitals. In April of 2015, Ms. Abrams and pianist Michael Korman presented a recital featuring the works of Schönberg, Ruth Schönthal, Previn, and Weill with the Maurice Greenberg Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Hartford.

Since the winter of 2016, Rachel has been an active performer with Lollipop Opera Outreach. This touring opera company brings the joy of opera to thousands of school children throughout New England. This season, she will perform the roles of the Mother/Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Babe in The Three Pigs – A Pig Tale, and participate in the premiere of a new interactive “culinary” opera adventure: A Fairytale Kitchen.

In addition to being a passionate performer and collaborator, Rachel is a private music educator dedicated to the success of her students. Ms. Abrams maintains a private studio of voice students out of her home in West Hartford, Connecticut. In addition to her private teaching studio, she is the alto section leader at St. James Episcopal Church in Farmington. She has also taught at Farmington Valley Academy Montessori in Avon, Arts Place in Cheshire and Summit Studios in Manchester.

As a voice teacher, Ms. Abrams provides her students with a holistic, healthy, and age appropriate technique based on her studies of vocal pedagogy, years of lessons from master teachers, and her personal experiences as a performer. Through personalized vocal exercises and repertoire assignments, students will learn how to achieve a proper vocal onset, management of air pressure, increase vocal stamina, and maximize vocal freedom through balanced resonance. While Ms. Abrams teaches "classical" technique, her students apply her pedagogy to all styles of singing including, but certainly not limited to: musical theater, jazz, gospel, barber shop, and even rock!

Before opening her own private studio in Connecticut, Ms. Abrams lived in St. Louis, Missouri where she taught throughout the region. While in Missouri, she served as an Adjunct Voice Instructor/Lecture Professor at East Central College and a Private Voice and Music Instructor at St. John's School of the Arts.

In addition to her teaching experience in the Missouri area, Rachel was a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Northern Colorado, where she was an assistant instructor for Music Survey and Music and World Cultures classes.

Ms. Abrams holds a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Northern Colorado and a Bachelor of Music degree from San José State University. She lives in West Hartford with her husband Ben and their anti-social diva cat, Bonnie. She is currently accepting new students!

*** Specialties ***
I teach classical technique, specifically focusing on proper resonance and breath control. This method can be highly useful to broadway, jazz, popular or any other style of singing.

Cara is a very patient teacher and is great at making you feel comfortable singing. She has lots of experience as a both teacher and a performer and it shows. I'm a busy person and I don't always have time to practice as much as I should, many music teachers are agressively critical in such situations but Cara is very understanding and teaches at the pace you can manage.

She has the experience to recommend songs which really showcase your voice to the greatest degree but is also is willing to take input on what kind of music you prefer to sing, so you're never bored or out of your depth while practicing.

I'm very glad I found Cara and I can't recommend her services enough.

My lessons provide a healthy environment for the student and the student's voice to grow properly. I always ensure that my students feel at ease and that their voices gain efficiency and power at the same time. I use reliable singing fundamentals that focus on breathing, relaxation, production, projection, mobility, and range. These methods derive from traditional Italian schools of singing combined with a modern, American approach. I will also help the student find ways to learn music more effficiantly, how to pronounce and translate foreign languages, and how to bring your own acting abilities to the music.

About Alec
Hello! I have been teaching the fundamentals of classical singing for many years now and I have received both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in vocal and opera performance. I promote a fun and healthy learning environment and make sure that my students learn the technical fundamentals in breathing, relaxation, production, and projection while also enjoying the lessons! I teach all styles of singing and enjoy doing it very much. My classical and operatic training has given me a wealth of vocal knowledge and allows me to make sure all other styles of singing are done as easily and healthfully as possible allowing my students to express their talents as much as they can for the least amount of effort.

Professional Bio:

A recipient of the prestigious Lenore Annenberg Fellowship in the Arts, baritone Alex made his Vancouver Opera debut in the 2017 season as the title role in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, and will debut the role of Il Conte in the same opera in the 17/18 season with Opera Naples. Formerly a member of the ensembles of Theater Basel and Opernhaus Zürich, Alex made his European debut in Switzerland singing The Hunter in Rusalka, Moralès in Carmen and L’Ami in Debussy’s rarely performed La Chute de la Maison Usher. Since then, he went on to make several further role debuts in Zürich, including Silvio in Pagliacci under Alexander Vedernikov, Ned Keene in Peter Grimes under Erik Nielsen, and the three baritone roles of Bohuslav Martinu’s rarely performed Juliette, under Fabio Luisi.

Previous noteworthy engagements included his principal role debut with the Glimmerglass Festival in Cooperstown, NY, singing Belfiore in Verdi’s King For a Day, of which the New York Times noted the debut of a “sensational” new talent. In 2014, Alex performed in a high profile gala concert for the 85th Anniversary of the Ópera de Bellas Artes alongside legendary tenor Franzisco Araiza, soprano Maria Katzarava and bass Eric Halfvarson. He made his Lucerne Festival debut as Don Quixote in Manuel De Falla’s El Retable del Maese Pedro conducted by Clement Power, performed as the baritone soloist in Mendelssohn’s Die Erste Walpurghisnacht with the Orchestra Symphonique de Mulhouse, and debuted the role of Sam in Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti for the opening festival of Opernhaus Zürich’s 2012/13 season.

A 2007 B.M. graduate of Northwestern University, Alex received an Artist Diploma from the Academy of Vocal Arts in 2011, and has been a top prizewinner in several major international competitions.

Learn technique with a supportive and knowledgeable teacher! Each voice is different, so I tailor every lesson to the individual. Whether you sing professionally or are just starting out, I can work with you to release your best, most free, voice.

For beginners, I also incorporate music theory and sight-singing, two essential building blocks of musicianship!

About Maayan
Hello! I'm an opera singer and director, but more importantly for you I have an innate ability to teach. I started with my younger sister and her friends when I was just a teenager, and have continued teaching on and off since then. You can expect age- and level-appropriate repertoire that will challenge you and help you grow. We will work together to find your true voice, and cultivate that to be as easy and consistent as possible.

When I started singing, I had a very small voice. I could match pitch and sounded pretty, but I had no vibrato and freedom to my sound. I now sing opera professionally, and have no trouble cutting through an orchestra. That does not come from pushing, but from working through many tension and breath issues that were holding me back. Having built my technique through intense study and practice over many years
, I have encountered or created helpful approaches to many vocal roadblocks, and I will share my expertise with you. Everyone learns differently and responds to different exercises and ideas; I will find the approach that works for you.

I look forward to helping you become the best singer you can be!

I recently relocated to Los Angeles after working as a performer, voice teacher, accompanist, composer, and choreographer in New York City for over eight years. I graduated from Shenandoah Conservatory with a BFA in Musical Theatre, Minor in Piano Performance, and a Vocal Performance Certificate. I have graced the stage in a multitude of musical theatre productions, including the international Broadway tour of HAIR, directed by the Tony-Award–winning Diane Paulus. In addition to writing and performing my own music, I have also sung and toured with several NYC-based bands at some of the country’s top music venues.

My experience in classical, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial vocal styles allows me to provide a well-rounded education for my students. Using principles from Estill Voice Technique, I train my students to heal

I carefully select repertoire for each student in their chosen style or styles (musical theatre, classical, contemporary commercial, etc.). Students may bring in a song of their choosing, or any audition/callback material. I can also assist in finding appropriate audition songs, and marking "16 bar" or "32 bar" cuts.

In addition to voice lessons, I offer singer-songwriter coaching. I work with writers as both a guide and collaborator to bring out their unique artistic voice. I also teach students how to properly sing and play an instrument* at the same time.

I am very passionate about my field, and take great pride in guiding each student to their fullest artistic potential!
