I work with the student to develop a curriculum based on their musical interests and my own teaching pedagogy. I strongly feel that for musicians to own their education, they must have a say in what they play. Assigning method books and mindless etudes to practice doesn't have nearly the same effect asking them "Ok, what kind of music do YOU like? What do you want to PLAY? What do you want to LEARN?".

I believe that students learn best when they are invested in a subject, and the best way to get them invested is to individually get to know each one, speak to them on their level, and get them playing music they're interested in.

I teach using many of the standard tunes as well as any of your favorites. The ukulele is a neat instrument to play and it seems to fit in most anywhere. Let's head back to that little grass shack in Kealakekua, Hawai'i and have a little fun.

Student can learn strumming techniques, accompanying, finger-style techniques, popular and classical solo arrangements.

The ukulele is the #1 instrument I recommend for beginners, though I also use it on professional recordings. It's a versatile instrument that provided an excellent gateway to connecting with other musicians.

When I teach ukuklele, I of course focus on the fundamentals of technique that make it easy to play well, but I also work from the goals of the students and help them develop a plan to connect to to other people or an experience.

With my broad performance and compositional background in folk, classical, jazz, rock, bluegrass, soul, blues, and musical theater, I offer students a wide musical perspective and tailor lessons to match student interests. I work with students on music of their choosing to improve technique and develop an understanding of music theory, improvisation, and composition.

With one to one instruction, you'll learn to play chords, scales, note reading, tablature, finger picking, strum patterns and improvisation. Within just a few lessons, students will begin learning how to play their favorite songs, including, "Somewhere over the Rainbow" ," I'm Yours", "Hey Soul Sister" and many more. Also, students will learn how to play various styles of music like, Blues, Pop, Classical and Rock.
