About Douglas
I combine my two decades of experience as a professional tutor and corporate writer with my own personal understanding of the learning struggles faced by students to create unique methods for every student to learn, regardless of the subject. I use creative innovations to make learning fun and enjoyable for my students. My students quickly see how much I care for their progress and success. Many have chosen to retain me as their tutor for more than a year.

I had the opportunity to work with Douglas a number of times during my tenure as a part-time instructor at SCORE Educational Center. What I noticed about him was that he related very well to the children he worked with - he was a very enthusiastic tutor of English and math! He was most generous with the "high fives" and praise, and he also knew how to get students back on track if their focus strayed. Also, I saw him work very well with the parents; he always took the time to patiently explain lesson plans and students' progress between sessions. I have known Douglas personally for many years. He was the one who encouraged me to work at SCORE Educational Center given my background in Education - I thank him for that because I enjoyed my time there very much while I was able to stay (unfortunately, I had to leave that position for a full-time job elsewhere). SCORE Educational Center is no longer in existence. Douglas currently works as an independent tutor, and given how long I've seen clients stick with him, I have no doubt that they are enjoying the same level of attention and enthusiasm he provided at SCORE. When he speaks about the progress of independent clients and how they respond to him, it is with enthusiasm and a glowing smile. If you are looking for a tutor that is intelligent, dedicated, enthusiastic, and simply great with kids and parents, then Douglas is your man.

About Tamari
Hi, there! My name is Tamar; I'm called Tamari, informally, and Tamara for the stage, and I can't wait to meet you!

I've been teaching private lessons for many, many years and have loved helping my students acquire new skills, master new pieces, and prepare for concerts and performances. Over the years, my younger students have earned Blue and Gold ratings at the Young Musicians' Festival in Fairfield U., some of them earning gold cups: This is a statewide event to encourage long-term commitment to the art, discipline and joy of music making.
I went to Indiana University's Jacob School of Music and earned a Masters in Piano Performance, and Composition in the '90's. I sang all types of vocal music as well as prepared singers with vocal coaching and voice development techniques 20+ years.
I'm fun loving, patient, and optimistic-
- these traits carry through in my teaching style,
One Size does NOT fit all--I approach the lesson plans for each student tailored to your learning style.
Over the past 23 years, my life experiences have encompassed other disciplines and compelled me to learn and acquire many other skills: my liberal arts as well as fine arts education lent itself to helping me work administrative jobs and even expanded into sales and public speaking. I have coached after school and SAT preparation to High School and College age students, helped with the preparation of legal and analytical documents, creative writing and editing assignments; and even tutored computer, social media and Microsoft Office & iWork Suite of applications to older adults.

I look forward to helping you reach your goals

Tamari is excellent with our 7y/o daughter. She is very thorough and detailed in her instruction. We love how she involves us, the parents, in the lesson. We could not be happier.

First of all, congratulations on having the courage and self-discipline to do what most others do not: learn a new language. The hard part is over! You've already begun the learning process and now all you need is someone to give you the guidance, support, and tools to help you along the way.

I hold my students to high standards, believing that setting consistent and high expectations is the key to success and improvement. I encourage students to reach these standards by providing honest feedback about their strengths and weaknesses, actively listening, and individualizing every lesson. Though I set high standards for students, I expect and even encourage them to make mistakes. Making mistakes is the best way to begin getting better and lets me know what areas we should work on together.

Kat has proven to be such a valuable and wonderful teacher. From the beginning of our process of starting ASL lessons for my daughter, she was communicative, thorough and 100% professional. Once our lessons began, she proved to be an incredible instructor (my daughter loves her lessons) as well as conscientious in our lesson schedule. Further, even when we need to change our lesson due to a scheduling conflict, she is very understanding, which I have appreciated. I can not recommend Kat enough!!!

I was an avid Spanish student throughout middle school, high school, and college. It is my favorite subject and love sharing my knowledge of this language! I took Spanish for 7 years straight.

It's an important language to learn as there are many Spanish speaking people in our country today, so I am here to help you learn and gain a better understanding of the language.

I currently tutor my sister in Spanish who moved up to an advanced high school class! She loves it as well due to my enthusiasm.

I am still in college as a commuter but I am always here to help.

I am a passionate teacher and lover of life, with all its subjects! Currently I teach at the Astor Learning Center, helping kids overcome all kinds of obstacles. I am also an approved substitute teacher for Rhinebeck Central Schools, so all of my background checks are in order (I can provide documentation on all of this; just didn't want to have the site charge me to do another background check). In the summer I run an exciting creative arts camp at Rhinecliff's Morton Library, for kindergarteners through fifth grade. It's called The Little Red Schoolhouse; the idea is to bring the magic back to reading through creative arts experiences. I love working with older kids as well and even do college application help. I have four of my own children. I would love to help you become better at whatever it is you wish to do in school or in life-an
