I have been teaching children of all age groups to acquire a solid foundation in violin playing. Whether it be pre-K beginners, or high school students getting ready for college auditions, I will communicate with the students and parents to set a number of goals to achieve.
I also welcome adult students, beginners and amateur enthusiasts alike.

In addition to gaining expertise in the techniques in violin playing, students in my studio will be given opportunities to gain comprehensive music knowledge including theory, sight singing, ear training, and any relevant music history, as the above-mentioned knowledge are indispensable elements in violin playing. Singing and clapping are essential parts of the lesson. When students are equipped with the basics, they can play anything and make the music they want.

About Dongbin

I am a concert soloist, and have given concerts home and abroad. I have previously served as the concertmaster at the Hartt Symphony Orchestra and the Waterbury Chorale. I am also an avid chamber musician with chamber music experience from age of 15 as a member of the Shin Trio. I was appointed as

My son has been taking violin lessons with Dongbin for almost 3 years since he started playing at age 5. Dongbin has been a great teacher, and my son enjoys learning from him. His lessons include not only violin playing, but also clapping rhythms, singing notes, and other exercises that have been effective ways of learning for my son, while keeping him engaged throughout the lesson. Dongbin recognizes my son’s strengths in playing violin, but also identifies the skills and techniques that he should focus on to become a better player and to build a strong foundation as he progresses. He also gives suggestions to help sharpen those skills while practicing at home. We have been very pleased with our experience with Dongbin as our son’s violin teacher.

My teaching style is very flexible & hands on. My goal is to make beautiful music and I do this by taking technical exercises and giving them musical meaning. This means I focus on the ideas of time, vocabulary & dynamic playings, but within this still teaching essential technical exercises in order to create a well-rounded musician.

After each lesson I will email detailed notes, as well as any supplemental documents and/or music.

I'm a fun person who loves different genres of music. I'm laid back but I try to keep things interesting so that lessons don't feel like a chore. I sometimes teach current songs from the radio to explain theory.

Alex definitely knows his stuff. He is a musical genius. He is engaging and makes our lessons fun by incorporating multiple genres to teach theory. I stumbled upon Alex's profile when I was searching for a teacher that would expand my understanding of jazz concepts, blues, gospel and improvisation scales. If you are looking for a down to earth instructor that is knowledgable and patient, then Alex is the person for you.
We had several glitches and technical issues, which is why the review reflects 4 stars.

We had a few technical difficulties but Alex was committed to making it work. My sons choose “Old Time Road”song and were thrilled to make progress on the first lesson. They were excited to book more lessons.

"Investing in an instructor was the best decision I have made with regard to learning to play. Prior to this, I relied on friends and You Tube videos which doesn't even touch the surface.

I recently started studying with Ahmad and have learned so much in the short time we have worked together. He is genuinely down to earth, patient and a natural at teaching. He understands how to teach. The continuity of his instruction superceded my expectations. After each lesson, he emails a "lesson recap" detailing what we went over during class along with helpful materials to review and practice for the next session. I feel honored to work with an instructor of his caliber. If you're serious about learning, I highly recommend Ahmad. You will learn so much from him and be challenged along the way. His passion for guitar and music in general is awe-inspiring!"

"My son had been taking lessons for 4 years in the Suzuki program. We relocated to FL and were looking for a new instructor. We found Remi after searching for classical instructors in the area. Our previous instructor talked to Remi and thought he would be a good fit for our son. The first lessons were seamless, our son felt very confortable with Remi. Our son could learned through memorization and never learned to read music except for a few notes. In the last 4 months our son has learned to read music at a higher level along with timings and rhythms. We would definitely recommend Remi to anyone wanting to learn to play guitar or learn how to play better."

Guitar Chord Charts: 11 Easy Tips to Read Fingering Charts on Acoustic Guitars

While it's true that you don't need to read music to play the guitar, you should learn how to read guitar chord charts. A guitar chord chart is a visual representation of a chord. This helpful visual is a little like music-by-numbers; it tells you which finger goes where and on what string, so in case you come across a chord you don't know, you'll be able to play it. Here's an example of a guitar chord chart, also known as a guitar chord diagram: Guitar chord charts are a cinch …
