I work with students on both the craft and creative side of music in an enthusiastic and nurturing environment. This approach is aimed at awakening a student's drive to explore their own musical path both inside and outside the lesson. Within a lesson, we will work on (1) instrumental technique and basic music theory, very important aspects to us as players, and (2) improvisation/composition and having creative musical discussions, which are invaluable to us as creatives. My goal is to create a positive learning environment that addresses a student's specific needs. I focus heavily on increasing a student's critical thinking skills so that they can easily problem solve during their practice sessions, increasing their ability to grow as a musician.

When it comes to violin I use both book and audio. I want to help my students learn to not only read the music but to also hear and feel it. I have been teaching this way for the last few years and found that my students have a deeper understanding of the music by learning the see with their ears. Each student is tasked with coming up with goals that they want to reach, goals their parents would like for them to reach and from there a personalized path for learning is created and followed.

Hello everyone, I look forward to working with you! My name is Dr. Jung, and I play and teach violin and viola. I debuted with the Seoul Grand Symphony Orchestra at age 13 and the Rainbow Youth Orchestra at age 14. Since then, I have gone on to win several competitions in South Korea and completed my education in both the Czech Republic and the USA.

In addition to over 10 years of private lesson teaching experience, I am violin faculty at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in Michigan and a violin instructor with the Jackson Symphony String Team.

When I'm not teaching, you can find me performing for the “If Music be the Food…Lansing” series and Camerata Michigan, Cello Plus Series directed by Suren Bagratuni. I was concertmaster for the Michigan State Concert Orchestra and have appeared with several regional orchestras, including the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra and Midland Symphony Orchestra.
