Hi! My name is T.J. and I am a professional drummer and educator currently living in Forest Park, IL. I received my B.A. in Jazz Studies from Elmhurst College in the Spring of 2019. I have been playing professionally in Chicago and it's surrounding suburbs for over five years now, and have played the drum set for 13 years.
I am very passionate about my craft, and absolutely love spreading that knowledge with others and inspiring them to the best of my ability. I am well versed in many styles, including Rock, Jazz,, Fusion, Funk, World Music, and Classical Percussion.
I am active in many bands, such as Instrumental Rock/Fusion band Elysian Green and Folk/Rock band Fleeting Suns (check either out on spotify!) I've been lucky enough to record and share the stage with famous Chicago musicians, such as Chris Siebold, Mark Colby, Frank Caruso, Jeremy Khan, and Marlene Rosenberg, among others. Some less-local musicians include Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Sean Jones, and Matt ...
About TJ
My goal as an educator is to give my students the tools to allow them to play in a way that makes them feel accomplished and brings them joy. I am very serious about teaching the fundamentals of drumming, as it allows you to begin learning self-sufficiently, and that way you can keep learning in a

I offer a comprehensive program that can accommodate any student's specific needs or interests. It is important to me that the student learns to play the drums for the sake of a musical context, rather than focusing on technique. I teach technique as a tool for making music. I aim to teach people how to be musicians first and foremost, and how to be drummers second.
About Kevin
My approach to teaching has a very heavy emphasis on implementing the idea of mindfulness into the students life. I have found that this is not only the quickest way to learn, but also the most motivating way to learn any skill for both my students and myself. A simple awareness of the finite deta

Beginning to Intermediate Drum lessons and beats that are actually used in today's and yesteryear's "hit songs".
It's no secret, drums is the backbone or "foundation" to any hit song.
I break down drumming to its most basic rudiments so that you will grow by leaps and bounds instead of just crawling along.
You have to walk before you can run so getting it right initially is very important to moving forward and getting you playing your favorite songs quickly and accurately..

I've had three lessons with Ed and I notice a significant improvement in my playing/practice. Ed will tailor a program for your skill level where you will see results immediately. The key is to practice regularly with Ed's lessons. The lesson studio is professional and fully equipped. I would highly advise any skill level of percussion to sign up for a lesson package with Ed."

As my son has a disability, it is often hard to find a teacher that can not only help him to find enjoyment and enthusiasm, but treat him like the serious musician he is. The best part of his teaching… Larry doesn’t even realize he’s learning. To him, they just jam.
I’ve seen my son grow not just as a drummer, but as a musician and student since Mr. Mike became his instructor. Now, he can listen better, play better, and have more fun on his instrument. I am very grateful for Mr. Mike’s patience, compassion, and skill set as a drum instructor and for the confidence he brought to my son."

A really good guy as well.
Thank you for the experience."

Andrew is an outstanding drum teacher. I took lessons from him for about two years when he was based in Los Angeles. He is well-versed in a variety of teaching styles and I was always amazed by his skill whenever he improvised on the drum set. His ability to break complicated sequences into more digestible pieces was immensely helpful and was invaluable when tackling more challenging beats. He is also an exceptionally patient and encouraging teacher.
He is very receptive to teaching students what they are interested in learning. One of the parts of my lessons I looked forward to was applying what I had learned that class by playing along to some of my favorite songs.
Andrew was very flexible and willing to accomodate my ever-changing schedule. Really personable and funny, too!
I was bummed to hear he was moving to the east coast. If he were still in LA, I would absolutely still be taking lessons from him!"
