With 5+ years of violin teaching experience, Lara continues to improve and hone her skills through workshops, podcasts, performing, and reading. She looks forward to sharing her musical knowledge with curious and enthusiastic students.

I am a firm believer that anyone can learn how to play an instrument and enjoy doing so. Although my teaching style is grounded in establishing a foundation of strong technique, I am also well aware that not every student is going to enjoy or want to play classical music, and that's okay! My goal is to help my students establish a relationship with their instrument and music in general, so they are able to grow and develop in the direction they want.

My approach to teaching is individualized for each student. My goal as a teacher is to make violin playing enjoyable and as comfortable as possible. I have mostly taught children between the ages of 9 and 17 but I look forward to working with students of all ages and levels.

I design a totally personalized method based on what the student wants to achieve. Since I'm from Colombia, I like to put some of my culture on the way I teach and the way I see music.

I've been teaching for fifteen years. You can learn by ear, tab, or notation. For instance you might start out learning by ear and later on learn notation, tab, or music theory.
