This was a first for us completing online cheer training to keep my daughter engaged throughout COVID lockdown. Cheryl was kind and supportive of my daughter as she tried new cheers and movements.
Her daughter was also a great co-teacher!
Looking forward to week 2.

Cheryl was great!! She was very knowledgeable and patient. My daughter was able to learn what we would consider a lot on the very first lesson. Despite the technical difficulties we were having with our personal equipment Cheryl was able to work through those issues with us and continue a lesson. She was friendly kind and reassuring to my daughter who doesn’t always have the most confidence in herself. She is helping her learn something that she really wants to do And helping her with her self-confidence as well! Couldn’t ask for anything more! Thank you so much take lessons and Cheryl

I was so nervous waiting to get my evaluation, but Cheryl put me at ease. She was so helpful and I am truly grateful. Thank you so much Cheryl.

Being born to deaf parents, my first language is American Sign Language. I am a CODA (child of deaf adult). My primary language is English and an expert ASL signer. By nature, Im apart of the Deaf/HH community and look to grow in advocating. I would like to reach hearing parents with deaf children or even hearing children with deaf parents by helping them advance in using their sign language skills proficiently.
I’m also interested in working with students whom are interested in ASL as a second language or even a hobby. Taking ASL in high school and need tutoring? I can assist in learning the visual and gestural communication of the signing.

***each ASL session is for up to two individuals. 2 or more pls ask about family/ goup rates.

She has helped me and 2 year old daughter become more fluent with ASL and she does a very great job 👍🏽 We will continue to grow with her. Thanks for your support and help!

Amber is fantastic with kids as well as kind and patient. She is a native speaker of ASL and can answer any question you have about it. Unfortunately for the last few months she's missed about every third class without even an apology. For the last two weeks she's completely no showed to lessons and is no longer responding to email.

WOW!!!! Tanya keeps blowing me away with her knowledge and skill. She prepared structured lessons based on my needs, but is also flexible and patient. I gave her a list of my most challenging questions and requests for resources. She provided responses and resources that absolutely blew me away. Tanya never mentioned that she did the research on her own time. What a class act!!!

I teach and tutor in American Sign Language from the perspective of one who came into ASL and the Deaf community without a thought of being a professional in a related field. Still, I did become a professional interpreter, teacher, tutor, mentor and have been a service-provider, advocate and friend with many Deaf since 1984.

I want my students to learn that fear and anxiety in undertaking a new adventure are usually of our own making, and that learning about other cultures and languages by association with native users is so valuable.

Therefore, my classes are highly interactive and immersive; students will be required often to learn voice-off, role-play sign language / deaf experience situations, complete tasks between classes, and engage fully. Focus will be on conversational quality, grammatical structures, situational encounters, expressive and receptive language skills.

I will provide curriculum and, as needed, written information and videos used.

I offer:

American Sign Language Flashcards & Other Memorization Techniques

There are various approaches to studying and memorizing information, from practice quizzes and note-taking to outlines or flashcards, and although flashcards may seem like a boring and repetitive way to study, they actually work. Flashcards engage active recall, metacognition (i.e., self-reflection), and spaced repetition. When used properly, flashcards are effective study materials. And making sign language flashcards can help speed your ASL learning. Using Physical Flashcards Properly us …

What's the Difference Between ASL & BSL?

Have you been wondering, "What's the difference between ASL and BSL?" This is a great question, and deserves a little more background. First of all, did you know that sign language is not universal? Just like there are numerous spoken languages (around 6,500) used across the globe, there are also many sign languages (somewhere between 138-300) used by various Deaf communities. Though it’s a common belief, sign languages do not stem from a country’s spoken language. The natural develo …

How to Teach Deaf Children to Read

Hearing Loss According to the CDC, at least one in 1,000 babies are born with a hearing loss. Historically, a hearing loss could go overlooked in a baby for months and even years, but fortunately, at present approximately 98% of infants are screened for a hearing loss. Identifying a hearing loss in infants is critical, because the first three years of life are crucial for speech and language development and it’s important for all children to have linguistic input from birth. Without exposur …
