My students not only learn to play the guitar, but learn "why they are doing what they are doing!" I teach all ages and I am very patient. We can work as fast or as slow as you like. I believe lessons should be informative and fun at the same time. I teach each students the basics of note reading, chord theory and scales as these subjects relate to the guitar. I use varoius method books like Hal Leonard, The FJH Music, as well as method books for children.

My 13 year old daughter is taking lessons from Lin and says “she’s a pretty cool lady. I really like her”. That’s a pretty hard compliment to get from a teenager. Lin is fun and has made learning guitar a pleasure and something my daughter looks forward every week. I would highly recommend her!

I have just started guitar lessons with Stan and the lessons are going very well. It's exciting to be learning note reading which is something I have always wanted to do. Stan is thorough and clear in his instructions and I look forward to each lesson. I feel lucky to have Stan as my teacher.

Stan is very knowledgeable about singing, and he teaches more than just voice lessons. It seems like he looks for the best in you as an artist, and try to take it to another level. I'm a new student of his, and it's been great so far. Looking forward to the weekly lessons.

Stan is obviously both knowledgeable and talented but he is also a very good teacher and will tailor your lessons not only to your ability but also to your own personal goals

Matt's a great instructor with a holistic approach to music. His experience helped shape the way I think about the guitar beyond just the technicality — teaching me to focus on concept and creative intent. His appreciation for a wide range of styles also encouraged me to explore more interesting phrasing and develop my own style.

I was a relatively aimless player and Matt showed me how to apply myself to music. Highly recommended!
Andrew K.
Matt really helped me with my guitar playing. He patiently went over the basics with me and let me go at my own pace, using songs I like to help me improve my technique, confidence, and knowledge of scales and chords.

wonderful books for ages 5 through Adult. Also a great way to sing and read music while playing an instrument. My teaching method includes notation if you haven’t studied a prior instrument . Books can also take in your specific interests, rock, jazz, country, after basic concepts . I first learned guitar so I could accompany myself singing and played in the church contemporary group. I am genuinely passionate about your success in becoming the best player you choose to be! I like to teach with repetition (wax on wax off) and prefer to present the big picture first so that every obstacle may potentially never be an obstacle for you. I take years of teaching experience and what have been topics of frustration brought to me from students in the past. I try to smooth the road and teach you, so you get the highest yield of success for your money with as little headaches as possible :) I would LOVE to have the opportunity to show you how great you can be in WAY less time than a traditionalist private teacher would get you...

Our first visit - Greg was patient and explained things well. He really tried to read my 12 YO son as to what he was experiencing & feeling. He was also encouraging which was great!

My son (electric guitar) and I (bass) love learning from Greg. He's a very clear teacher who gets his students and can work form as well as theory. Super combination and we're both farther along than I think we expected to be when we started. Highly recommended.

"Mark is a fantastic teacher. He is very patient and positive at all times. My teenage daughter and I both take lessons and he is very comfortable with our different learning styles and speeds. I particularly appreciate his focus on teaching from real songs. His attention to detail is great and I am always impressed that he is teaching us to listen and decode the chords, the strums and subtle little moments in the music. I highly recommend Mark - even for 50-something beginners like myself."

"A great teacher who listens to the kids and seems to know that letting them play songs that they want to play will make them want to practice! He is teaching theory, technique and fun at the same time. Kelton was bored with so much theory and playing 'baby' songs that he didn't know. Cristopher's did his first recital with the song that my son wants to learn, too! I've already recommended him to neighbors and friends."

"I have been playing for 20 years, and I have written many songs. I could never understand how to put together the formula to write, I have always written by patterns and sound. Now thanks to Tim, and about 5 minutes he explained to me how to write a song within structure and how to compose it, with many different choices. I no longer live in a box and am excited that my eyes are opened. I highly recommend Tim, he is great at encouraging you even through songs that I have said. "I'm not playing that" to "I played that and in perfect timing"."

"You can't go wrong with Jesse

Our daughter who just turned 9 started taking guitar lessons with Jesse a few months ago as a beginner with no experience. We have been very satisfied with her progress and her enthusiasm has grown the more she learns. Jesse has a very kind, patient, and flexible style of teaching. He took the time to get to know our daughter and allows her to have input on the songs and music that they work on. My son once took guitar lessons and never really progressed and eventually quit. I see a huge difference with my daughter's guitar lessons experience and I attribute that all to the excellence in teaching that Jesse provides."

What is a Lute, and How is it Different From the Guitar?

As a guitar player, I rarely had to deal with the issue of explaining what my instrument was to people I met. Even non-musicians are generally familiar with the guitar and the many forms and shapes it takes. When I made the transition to playing the lute, however, this changed significantly, due in no small part to the odd-looking case that I have to carry the instrument around in. People will often ask me, “What is a lute?” In truth, the history of the lute is a long one and I often s …
