About Josh

Hello everyone, my name is Josh. I have been playing guitar for over 15 years now and have had a successful teaching career for over 4 years. I have a music degree with a focus on blues, jazz and classical guitar. I also play rock, folk, pop, and just about anything you want to learn. I sing and play, improvise, and write my own music. Music is my life and I love being able to share every bit of knowledge I have with my students. It is a blast to watch my students progress and get excited about guitar. As a player, I learned what to avoid and what to utilize in order to accelerate my playing as quickly as possible and you will save time and limit frustration with my methods. I will teach you how to practice, which is the single most important part of learning. Effective ...

Been a student of Josh's for a few months now and feel very fortunate to have found him. His attention to detail, continuity between sessions, and obvious broad knowledge base are a few of the elements making this a very rewarding learning experience. I am learning to read music, understand music theory, and develop technique. I have very much looked forward to each lesson which Josh takes the time and effort to build upon with clear assignments and follow up. Josh is highly personable, professional and supportive. I highly recommend Josh.

Excellent, safe and trustworthy.

Josh has been the best guitar teach I have had (I have had three others in the past). He is exceedingly patient, flexible and very knowledgeable about the subject, for both theory and practice.

I have a better understanding of the mechanics, style and technique of classical guitar than I had coming in and have learned some really excellent pieces. Josh works at my pace and understands when work and 'life' interfere with my ability to practice during the week.

The piano lesson is for my daughter Laetitia. I never stayed with her when she had her piano class so I can't make any comment on Susanna. So far my daughter is still interested on playing piano and she practice is every day with fun. Susanna told my husband that she will buy some new music book for her so I guess Laetitia really enjoy her piano class.

Gfire is just awesome. In only a few lessons I see such a great work with my daughter. She is already learning to find her head voice after three lessons and is getting better already. I am looking forward to greater things they will accomplish together. Gfire I have been looking for someone like you for such a long time. Where have you been hiding? I believe that Gfire do fire herself in the music and do appreciate all the times she took to teach my little girl the piano lesson. I cannot wait for me to see her able to both play and read music. She will, and I will say thanks to Mrs. Gfire. Everything happen for reason in life.

Lindsey is a very capable teacher who is a pleasure to work with.

Lindsey has an excellent manner of communicating her teaching method and applying it effectively. I really appreciate her level of patience with me and how open she is to experiment with different exercises and songs as well as always keeping in mind the goals I have for the lessons (extended vocal range and learning how to "belt out a song"). I am very pleased with having her as my voice instructor and would definitely recommend her to anyone hoping to increase their singing capabilities.

Richard is very cool. He is very nice and easy to work with. His knowledge of the piano and of music theory are exceptional and his ability to explain them to a beginner is incredible. I have learned so much in only 3 or 4 sessions and have already scheduled 4 more. I am so glad I found Richard on TakeLessons!! I would absolutely recommend him to an adult or to a child. He's the best!!!

The force is strong with this one.

Richard is an excellent teacher. I have seen steady improvement in my child's playing. Now Samantha wants to play and practice more. Richard is able to notice errors in form and technique that lead to poor habits without discouraging her. Richard is able to explain to my child how to fix her mistake and encourages her in a positive way. This makes all the difference in the world.

I started taking violin lessons from Mrs. Milena during my first year in middle school. We tried out one teacher before meeting Mrs. Milena but my brother and I did not like her teaching style. However, after meeting Mrs. Milena we both agreed that we wanted her as our teacher. She easily picked up where our previous teacher left off and helped us improve so that we were both capable of playing high level compositions. I would not be the violinist I am now without her.

Mrs. Milena is capable of teaching both new and advanced level students. She really connects with her students and adjusts her lessons to suit the individual. She always encourages her students to just do their best and it is a great experience learning from her.

For those who want to enroll their child I highly recommend Mrs. Milena because she not only works really well with children but she also keeps the parents informed on their progress.

Mrs. Milena is an amazing teacher and I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a talented teacher in both teaching and in music. She is a very optimistic person and learning from her has been a joy.

Mrs. Milena was the teacher that made me who I am today. When I first started violin I was very shy and didn't have what it took to be a good violinist. Then I started to work with Mrs. Milena and now thanks to her I made 1st chair at regionals my 6th grade year. I've been in middle school for my third year now and I'm our 1st chair violinist/concertmaster for the third year in a row. I can play high level songs and have gained recognition from other teachers and students everywhere. I've worked with tons of other teachers that have impressive accomplishments that are very good of violinists themselves, but nobody could teach the vibrance and life that music requires. She put in much more work than she needs to, and when there were important events and concerts, she would always show up and cheer for me from the seats.

When my daughter was three years old, she started asking me if she could learn to play the violin. When she was in kindergarten, we decided to start looking for a teacher. We tried four different teachers and my daughter chose Ms. Milena. It was the absolute best decision she could have made.

Ms. Milena tailors her lessons to my daughter's interests. If there is a song that my daughter wants to learn to play, all that Ms. Milena has to do is listen to the song and she can produce the music by ear. She is the most musically talented person I have ever met and her love for music shines through in her teaching. She is kind, encouraging, and inspirational to my daughter and she is always thinking of creative ways to keep her engaged and excited about learning the violin.

Ms. Milena is highly competent, trustworthy, and a gifted teacher. I wholeheartedly recommend her and I am exceedingly grateful to have her as a mentor to my daughter. You will not find a better music teacher than Ms. Milena!
