About William
My name is William and I am pursuing a Masters in Cello Performance at the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in Coral Gables, FL. I love cello and I want to become a professional cellist/entrepreneur. I love playing chamber music, orchestra, and new music ensembles. However, I also play electric cello, and often clash my instrument with the many thriving genres one can find in Miami: from raggaeton, RnB, EDM, Jazz, and sometimes the free jam. I love teaching cello and I also can help you with your overall understanding of music, music theory, ear training, you name it. I am a mu
sic expert! I love riding my bicycle and I love travelling! I love learning about new people and the cultures and ideas that they bring with them.

I've had a lot of past experience with instruments growing up with band and guitar, but Will was my first ever cello instructor. He was absolutely fantastic and one of the best music instructors I've ever had. He was there to guide me every step of the way. When I was first learning proper bow techniques he didn't hesitate to offer advice on how to improve my form and wasn't afraid to give me honest critiques, which made me aware of what I could be doing better. While learning scales he showed me not just where to put my fingers on the instrument but also how to listen to the pitch itself and compensate and create a beautiful sound. Without him I would not have been able to learn so much on the cello and I am thankful he was here to share his knowledge. You cannot find a better teacher than Will!

I have had the pleasure of learning from William for the past year while he was completing his undergrad in Delaware. William Locke is a great instructor for any level cellist. His passion and dedication to the arts and what music has to offer to every individual is inspiring and helped me get to where I am today. Anyone who gets the chance to study with William is making the right step towards becoming a well-rounded cellist.

About Ana
Hey there! The first thing I want to tell you about studying with me is that my highest priority is making it fun. I’ve found that cultivating the student’s genuine interest and enjoyment of the music learning process is the biggest contributor to progress.

In the first lesson, communication is very important to me. I want to find out what you love about music, so that we can build skills which directly contribute to your musical passions. My approach with a new student involves discussing what they are hoping to get out of taking lessons. Together, we come up with a series of goals that we
will work towards achieving during our sessions. I believe in tailoring the lesson to each individual student- there is no one size fits all method to learning!

I welcome students of all skill levels and ages, including complete beginners!

I have had significant formal musical training, as well as years of experience working as a singer and teacher. I have performed and taught in a variety of styles, including opera, classical, pop, folk, and musical theater. I have a Bachelor of Music degree, and I’m about to complete my Master’s degree in Classical Vocal Performance. I emphasize a vocal technique rooted in the classical tradition, because it provides an excellent foundation for any style the student is interested in singing.

I can provide repertoire for you, and I also am open to working on pieces that you are interested in learning.
