Microsoft Office

​I have been a successful classroom teacher and hybrid learning course developer for over 18 years and I have a deep devotion to and passion for education. I completed my PhD in Curriculum and Teaching in 2017, I have been a Google Certified Educator (levels 1 and 2) for over 10 years, integrating Google and Microsoft into my daily practice.

My passion is to teach and inspire others in the use of Microsoft and Google to develop efficient processes, improve efficiency, and increase confidence. Working as an independent consultant gives me the perfect opportunity to share that passion with my fellow educators, administrators, staff and students of all ages.

I am also a Professional Learning Specialist with NCCE, the Northwest Council for Computer Education working with educators across the country in implementing hybrid/blending learning models using a wide array of tech solutions, including Google Workplace for Education.

Although I was born here in the US, I am a British citizen: my family hails from Liverpool, England and most weekends (and some weekdays!) you’ll find me cheering on my favorite football team, Liverpool Football Club (go REDS!) who won the English Premier league after 30 long years of waiting!!

Developed and implemented unique and compelling training initiatives and courses to support the implementation of Microsoft Office 365 especially within Teams and Minecraft for educators, administrators, faculty, staff, and students.

Microsoft Learning Consultant

Design effective training materials and coordinate professional development to strengthen teacher effectiveness, empower school leaders, and increase student engagement in K-12, health organizations, and post-secondary education settings in the implementation of Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace for EDU. Evaluate existing performance and create individualized strategies to support each organization.

Professional Learning Specialist

Created a supportive and nurturing classroom environment that drove positive learning experiences for students. Created and implemented Common-Core aligned English, Language Arts lessons following the Flipped model of instruction that effectively engaged students. Built positive rapports with both students and families to support learning and address any potential issues. 

Prepared assignments, teaching materials and tests as needed. Guided pupils to improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills via individual and group sessions. Monitored and maintained all school policies and procedures, as determined by school administrators. Met with students individually when necessary to assess progress, identify issues, and improve learning performance levels and achieve overall education success. Design and deliver assessments, analyze results of those assessments to inform instruction. 

Yearbook/Publications Teacher:
Maintained thorough knowledge of all District policies and procedures and ensured compliance with federal, state, and local rules. Supported the students to produce a quality yearbook annually with a minimum of 100 pages. Supervised and participated in yearbook work nights (after school hours) and worked to establish teamwork among yearbook staff members.

In these sessions, we will dive into each of these tools with:

* an overview of the dashboard of each
* navigating each app
* the basics of interacting inside the app including specialized terminology unique to each
* creating new documents, workbooks/spreadsheets, and slide decks.
* use-case scenarios for each tool 

You'll have the chance to ask specific questions and get help on those items.

Heather is a phenomenal teacher! She shares her knowledge with patience and strategically connects with her learners to encourage their confidence and foster their learning. I highly recommend her!

Heather is skilled in utilizing Microsoft products in a classroom setting, and teaching others how to use these tools by providing examples, practical applications, and hands-on experiential learning. She was part of a team of trainers who did this for school districts and HED institutions across the country, on behalf of Microsoft.

Heather is smart, engaging, adaptable, and a great listener!  Her classes - including OneDrive and LMS sessions - bring understanding to why and when to use the right technology, not just how to use it.
