About Merry Ellen

As an independent singer-songwriter, I take an unconventional approach to teaching music. I think it's important for students to learn the basics of sight-reading, but mostly I love teaching my students about chords, creating their own songs, and WHY things work. I don't have a traditional education in music, but teach from experience, having released 3 albums, toured the US, & had my songs featured with major television & international publications. So if classical/technical piano is what you are seeking, I am NOT the teacher for you. But if you're looking to explore your own creativity & learn the mechanics behind songwriting, I might just be your lady.

About Jessica

My name is Jessica M. and I am a third-year college student. I've been playing the piano for fourteen years and I have taught for two. I am classically trained, but I also enjoy playing jazz, hymns, and pop music as well. I took a break from teaching during my first two years of college, but I'm ready to get back in the saddle! I use a variety of curriculum, but my core curriculum is the John Schaum course. I teach music theory, technique, and musicality.
