Carl W.

Fort Worth, TX

About Carl

As far back as I can remember I have always enjoyed performing music. I can remember during my elementary school years how I would play drums during church service. Some days I would sneak in my dad's closet to play his saxophone. I began learning how to play saxophone in middle school and by the time I was in high school I was learning piano, performing jazz, and composing music.
I went on to get a Bachelor of Music at the University of North Texas. I have been performing professionally for over 18 years. I also have taught band for 11 years in Dallas ISD. I enjoy teaching and mentoring ot
her up and coming musicians. It's a joy to see another world open up to them through music.
Through my warm and positive personality and experience as a certified music teacher and music performer, I understand how to meet the social and educational needs of each music student. I am well versed at solving problems and helping students thrive and reach their full potential. I think that I do this best by personalizing the instruction experience for each unique situation. I love to encourage students and help them discover the music in them.

Like me, students can expect to enjoy the process. Students will discover that I am very encouraging during lessons. I keep everything upbeat and positive. I will help you come up with goals musically. I am very patient, all while coaching you so that you get positive results.

Very good instruction for beginning player. Carl is focused on teaching proper embouchure and technique. Also provides/recommends good baseline music sheets to improve music reading fundamentals. The environment is very relaxed and my 7th grader enjoys his lessons.

Once I figured out the technicalities, everything went well. My son gave me a thumbs up when I asked how he liked it.

Michael is an encyclopedia when it comes to guitar. We are working on theory, and he just knows it from A to Z. He is patient. Explains every detail when I ask for the minutiae. He inquired what I wanted to learn, and he formed my lessons around my goals. But it has an organic feel in that what i initially wanted has changed as I understand more. He moves in that flow and adjusts our target in lessons.

But what is most important is he is not an adversary when it comes to lessons. In the past I have taken lessons and it was the instructor's way or no way at all. Michael's lessons are like hanging out with a friend who is a great guitarist that is willing to share his knowledge.

I look forward to lessons.

Patrick T.

Denton, TX

About Patrick

Having studied music for just over twelve years, I am passionate about teaching others to experience and understand music to their fullest. I believe that interaction with the arts is an invaluable part of any persons educational and social being. Beyond all of the technicalities of music education, it is important for students to be able to enjoy and appreciate the music that they spend so much time studying. My lessons are highly focused in music theory, understanding, and appreciation. Music has played a huge role in the development of my own life and I absolutely love sharing that experien
ce with others.

About me, I am a graduate from the College of Music at the University of North Texas in Denton with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. My most recent studies in music have been highly focused on Worship Music concentrating on Piano and Voice and Music Theory. I am currently working towards a Masters in Divinity at the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

This is our first experience with a piano teacher. Patrick was great! He was on-time. He explained things in an age appropriate manner for younger kids. He was professional but also relaxed and patient. My daughter is excited to continue with lessons. We have only worked with Patrick once so far, but he makes a great first impression!

I am amazed on how fast I'm starting to catch on. I'm 44 and the adage of teaching an old dog new trick may be somewhat true but working with Jan is allowing me to develop how I need too. I'm excited to see what will be next.

Beth B.

Colleyville, TX

About Beth

In May 2011, I graduated from Texas Woman's University with my Bachelor's Degree in Music and a minor in Business Management. Music has been my passion since before I started taking piano lessons in third grade and there was an innate desire to master the keys. At age fifteen, I taught myself how to play guitar and started writing songs. In 2013, I became a published songwriter when my songs were produced on my church's Christmas Album ("Who Is This King?").

I have been teaching private piano lessons part-time from my home in Colleyville for four years. My students range from young beginner
s to intermediate and advanced students, to beginner and moderate adults. Teaching is my greatest passion, whether it's of the classical genre, theory mastery, or equipping a student to use their gifts in worship. I am looking forward to teaching full-time very soon so I can fully invest all my time and energy into the precious gifts of my students.

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions and I will be happy to discuss. I believe with you that you'll find just the right instructor to impart to your family!

A Beginner's Guide to Ukulele Tabs: How to Read Them and Where to Find Them
Want to learn some cool riffs on your ukulele? In this lesson, ukulele teacher Willy M. shares how you can read ukulele tabs and find them for your favorite songs... Hello, ukephiles! Ukephile (pronounced “you-keh-file”) is a new word I just invented deriving from “uke” for "ukelele" and “philo,” Greek for “to love;” so it means “lovers of the ukulele!” Anyway, I digress. One of the hardest things for ukephiles is finding tabs for songs that you want to play. Most of the time, we can f

8 Simple Steps for Learning Fast Piano Songs
Struggling to get through the fast piano songs you're dying to play? Here, Helendale, CA teacher Sylvia S. shares her tips for success...   Piano is an easy instrument to learn. You push a key, and a note sounds.
