As a drum instructor, I use a groove orientated approach to get the students deep in the pocket, I teach students how to sight read the Drum set Legend. I organize beats into 4 (four) main categories (classic rock, modern rock, hip-hop, and rap, as well as additional styles) while also breaking down each category into, a multitude of sub-styles. I stress the importance of developing a good hand technique, with snare drum rudiments, good hand and foot technique with drum set rudiments, and poly-rhythmic technique with poly-rhythmic rudiments. I believe drum lessons should not just be so tedious, so I usually assign a simple song or two to keep the students interest and allow creative process through improvisation, all the while providing different ride cymbal patterns to gain the ability to play along with any rhythm on the bass drum and snare.
Beginning students will begin studying from the book "Progressive Drum Grooves" by Craig Lauritsen which he/she will be required to have each lesson.
Although instructor will have drumsticks, brushes etc. students should carry them along for every lesson.
A drum set or practice pad will be a very crucial part in seeing growth from our lessons.

I've been teaching Music for 5 plus years and my students have gone on to accomplish great things. My goal and challenge for every student is to teach them how to play, read and listen to music. This will enable them the ability to play any song and any style of music. I specialize in Jazz, R&B and Classical. Typically I learn my students leaning habits whether its hands on or visual and their attention span, so I can't effectively teach my students. I Can't wait to meet you!
I have been playing and performing music for over 20 years. My greatest strength is the drum-set, with a focus on funk and all sub-genres of rock music. I promise I will have you playing a simple groove by the end of the first lesson; in time we will move in the stylistic direction of the students choice. The ultimate goal is to teach you how to teach yourself. I believe in educating the students in not only the performance of the instrument, but the theory behind it.
