I have been teaching trumpet for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

Learning to play the trumpet is a rewarding experience. Many people think you need to be big and tough to play the trumpet. But it's quite the opposite - it is an instrument requiring precision coordination between the embochure (lips) and the fingers. It's more akin to precision surgury than an athletic competition.

I will help the student develop a good foundation to play the trumpet well. Everyone wants to play loud and high but developing a good sound is crucial before attempting advanced techniques. I will help the student make sure they are developing and progressing in the right direction.

About Sean

I am a professional pianist who primarily performs but also loves to share the gift of music through teaching. My specialty is jazz but I play most other genres and am a firm believer of learning the fundamentals. Iteach all ages and levels, and want my students to be having fun! And if your pia

Trumpet is the most physical instrument that requires your whole body to work efficiently. Understanding the breath and how to relax the body goes a long way in learning the trumpet.

About Matthew

Anyone can learn a musical instrument. I started from a blank slate which through my own interest was able to improve my skills to perform the music I love.

"I've had many teachers in the past who only taught me how to perform well with the emphasis on technicality and repeptition; however, Tom created space for me to appreciate each and every bar rather than focusing on finishing a song. As a student who has become well-adjusted to structure, I learned the beauty of improvisation informed by theory through Tom. He is attentive, passionate, and always makes sure I got the concept he's teaching. He has a rare gift of creating such an intimate, peaceful environment where I can feel at ease and really thrive in playing music. It was in these calm moments my passion for jazz sparked more and more. I'm truly thankful to have had Tom as my mentor/teacher.

"Will is a really excellent teacher! I started with absolutely ZERO experience and he was kind, patient, and a really excellent start for any new student. We worked mainly on fundamentals, breathing exercises, and embouchure technique the first few weeks before jumping right into learning basic songs and music theory. He tailored the lessons to my ability and gave me pointers throughout to make sure I was staying consistent.

I would recommend Will to anyone that is interested in tackling the trumpet, from beginner (me) to advanced. Thanks Will!"

"My 1st Trumpet lesson with Katie went well. I need the actual exercise music that
we worked on ?? Also, I was wondering if we could do a lesson somewhere out in the open. Like a hall, church, or bigger room, maybe my apartment ??

Thanks a lot Katie for your expertise, it is much appreciated.

"Learning from Mr. Higgins has been a great experience. He is extremely knowledgeable and definitely knows his stuff! As a freshman high school trumpet player, I needed a lot of help on various things. Mr. Higgins went above and beyond in helping me improve on those tricky things and always made me feel at home and not at all pressured. For any student that truly wants a professional's advice and is serious about getting better, Sean Higgins is one of the best."
