While my degrees are in clarinet, I am also an accomplished saxophonist who has performed in ensembles throughout Colorado and Western Massachusetts, including jazz ensembles, musicals, and a professional saxophone quartet with performances at a regional North American Saxophone Alliance (NASA) Conference. I have experience ranging from helping students just learning their instrument all the way to students looking at All State or college auditions. My goal is to tailor lessons to meet each student's individual needs and interests, while still reinforcing good technique. Lessons will usually consist of doing a mix of different things such as: long tones, scales, etudes to improve technique and musicality, solos, duets, and Disney or jazz/pop tunes.

About Leslie

Leslie is a Denver based musician—clarinetist and teacher—who performs in solo and collaborative projects across the state while maintaining an active teaching studio. Leslie is in high demand as both a performer and teacher. Recent performances include solo performances is Denver and Stapleton,

Not only do I know how to play all instruments in the clarinet family, but I repaired them for 21 years, so I know the technical side of how the instrument really works, and can quickly diagnose whether an issue is with the player or with the instrument. This is something I am passionate about - having a properly working instrument. I can even offer discounted repairs if the student is within shipping or driving range.

Besides that, I believe making music should be fun! I will choose much of the music with the student so not only is the fun factor going to be high, but the learning factor will be high as well. We will set goals periodically, and as they are met set new ones.

About J.J.

My name is JJ and I love music! Music is not only what got me through the tough Jr High and High School years, it also got me through college and paved the way for all of my career moves ever since. Whether it was repairing instruments, teaching others how to repair instruments, or leading a worship

Hello! I have over 25 years of professional saxophone and clarinet playing experience. I've played and recorded many different styles with many different bands, orchestras, and jazz ensembles.

I teach clarinet and saxophone on all levels. I can teach beginners the basics of fingering, tone, music reading, theory, etc. I can help intermediate students advance in their playing prowess. I can get adults who haven't played in a while back into playing shape. And, for more advanced students, I can teach jazz improvisation. So, I cater my teaching to your desires and goals!

I'm able to teach adults and teenagers (age 12 and up) and I'm open to any frequency that fits your budget and desires (once a week, once every two weeks, twice a week, etc.).

About Brian

I've played clarinet and sax for over 40 years, playing throughout grammar school, high school, and college. I attended University of California at Berkeley where I played in the marching band and in various jazz bands, orchestras, and ensembles. After graduating I've played professionally ever sinc

Sound is the key. Developing and nurturing a solid sound opens up all other aspects of music. Once we have a solid sound we can depend on everything we play is more effective.
I teach basic musicianship along with advanced sound production techniques.
Spontaneous creation and composition. I can help you freely improvise in any situation and become a functionary player as well as a soloist.

"Ian was prompt, attentive and just a real pleasure to work with. I'm totally new to the instrument - and he was patient - started from the very beginning - and even gave me a song to practice at the end (which is how you stay interested). He clearly knows his stuff. How do I know? - Here's what happened - He taught me the first notes, and all was going well - he gave me praise - but when we got to "G" it was off. He worked with me on technique and said - "wait - something's off, may I see your instrument?" Handing it over - he worked the keys (I got it from craigslist) and ultimately ended up putting his neck on it. Played it - and although it sounded much better - was still off. He scratches head, then instinctively shook it a few times - and the cleaning cloth comes tumbling out of the bell! "Well - there's your problem!" We laughed and went right back into it. Two thumbs up and five stars for this guy."

"Incredibly amiable, professional, and talented as a teacher.

As a senior in high school now graduating and transferring into college, I started my lessons with Dimitry in December last year and had to end this summer at the end of the music school's program. Even though my time learning the saxophone was short, Dimitry used my past musical experience to help guide me through the instrument. His lessons did not feel long in any sense of the word, and in fact some two-hour lessons I took to make up missed weeks blew by, as I was constantly engaged by his teachings. During my studies with him I found myself in the presence of a true musician, and this was only further driven home when I saw him play in the Hanover Wind Symphony at the Morristown Community Theater with Stanley Drucker. I would highly recommend Dimitry as an instructor for a student at any level."
