I've always been passionate about singing, so much so that I've based much of my life and career around my voice. While I love singing and would say that I was able to cultivate my voice to the point where I'd consider myself talented, there has always been an aspect that I felt I could improve upon. When I first started lessons with James I was amazed with the strides I was taking, as well as how kind, helpful, and encouraging he was. I can honestly say he helped me become the singer I hoped to be.

I have been taking voice lessons with Jamie for about 2 years and counting, and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for a fantastic voice teacher.

I came to Jamie as an amateur wanting to improve my ability and skill in singing, and can absolutely attest my singing ability has grown by leaps and bounds in working with him.

Jamie has been fantastic in teaching me the skills needed to improve, including technique, expanding my vocal range, improving pitch & tone, reading and sight singing music, singing harmony, phrasing, and overall dramatically improving my ear. Jamie does a great job of continuing to raise the bar as I am ready for each next level, so I continue to see a steady rate of growth in my abilities.

Jamie is also great to work with on a personal level. His lessons are a good balance of fun, the right amount of challenging (so you actually improve), & satisfying. His teaching style is helping you walk the walk through specific ways to improve, which is in my opinion the fastest and most quality way to learn. I highly recommend Jamie to those at any skill level!

I call my style the Quick Fret board Mastery Teaching Style. Using this you will learn quickly how to play songs and have fun, but will be gaining the fundamentals all along. There are no boring theory classes or repetitive scale sessions, but you will leave each lesson with new knowledge of theory and scales without actually studying them separately. You will instead being playing songs and having fun.

We have a custom workbook that includes CHORDS, SCALES, PROGRESSIONS, CHARTING and ADVANCED THEORY. The workbook outlines the basics, we add to it every week with material cus
tomized for you.

We go as fast or as slow as you decide. We give homework, but it is not mandatory.

If you are a student you will shine in your school, group or band. If you are an adult you will be amazed at how fast you learn and how good you will become.

We hope you grow to love music and the guitar as much as I do. ROCK ON!

Blues and rock guitar

***Experience***

I have played rock and blues guitar for 30 years. I grew up with the Beatles and Rolling Stones, but now play in the Albert King, Buddy Guy and Eric Clapton blues styles. I know most rock, blues, folk and jazz styles with some knowledge of country and classical.

I have been the rhythm, lead or bass guitar player in six bands spanning 30 years. My current band is West of the Blues.

I was mentored by Mike Bruce. Mike was BB King’s, Bobby Blue Bland’s and Bob Seger’s lead guitar player for many years. He has played with everyone from Eric Clapton to Janet Jackson.

During the Mike Bruce period my band opened for him almost everywhere. He became my mentor and guitar teacher and only then did I start learning how to play the instrument that initially looked easy.

I have taught Rock Band and Guitar in Denver Public Schools for the past four years.

I have taught guitar and bass informally for about 14 years and our Littleton based lesson studio has been in operation for eight years with lessons taught more formally.

I also am the founder of and current teacher at the School of Blues Colorado. Additionally I am the Band Director for 3 of the School of Blues bands.

I aim to teach my students how to perform by controlling their nerves and incorporating everything they learned from their lessons into their performance!

About Ellen
As Abbe' Dimnet once said, "Children have to be educated, but they have also to be left to educate themselves."

I aim to teach my students how to sing through kinesthesia. This allows them to internalize what they are doing in the studio so they can practice it at home and be more successful. Practicing what they learn in the studio will help them gain good habits, making singing and performing more effortless. One of the hard things about learning how to sing, is learning to use muscles you can not see. This is why kinesthesia is important! It helps the student learn how everything feels, so they can produce free, open, resonant sounds.

I also aim to teach my students artistry! Music can be a powerful influence in our lives and society. It is important for a student to learn to connect with their music so they can be better perfor
mers.

Last, I am a member of NATS. This allows me to continue my education on the voice and gives me new insights from other great teachers and vocal scientists around the nation. By being a member of this association, it also allows me to give my students opportunities to compete in competitions and get feedback from other great teachers.

I grew up in Centennial, Colorado and started playing the violin in 4th grade. I developed an interest in singing in middle school, and started voice lessons when I was 16. I have been singing ever since!

I graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in April 2009, with a Bachelor degree in Music Science. I emphasized in vocal instruction.

I am happily married to my husband, Kevin, who is currently studying to be an optometrist.

About Corinne
Corinne D. specializes in healthy belting for musical theatre, pop, jazz, R&B, gospel and country styles of singing as well as classical and opera. She has been teaching privately since 2006, and spent two years as a student teacher for the Knoxville Children's Choirs, in her home state of Tennessee. Corinne holds a dual Master's in Opera and Musical Theatre Performance from Arizona State University, and a Bachelor's in Voice Performance with a minor in Theatre Performance from Middle Tennessee State University. Her healthy belt technique was developed through years of training in both classical and popular styles of singing with pedagogues such as David Jones, Lauren Sawyer, Anne Kopta, and Dr. Christine Isley-Farmer. Ms. D. spent the summer of 2011 studying opera and German Cabaret singing, as well as performing at the Middle Saxony Th
eatre in Freiberg, Germany. When studying with Corinne, singers develop classical technique as a foundation and then learn to modify the resonating space to create the desired sound for their style- leading to a popular sound without strain on the vocal cords. A strong performer, Corinne also has thorough training as an actor, and integrates acting into her lessons to turn out not simply singers, but well-rounded performers. Her musical theatre credits include: "Die Dreigroschenoper" (The Threepenny Opera) (Jenny), "Der kleine Horrorladen" (Little Shop of Horrors) (Chiffon), "The Last 5 Years" (Cathy), "Once Upon a Mattress" (Lady Larken), "Anything Goes!" (Erma), "Pippin" (Fastrada), "High School Musical" (Ms. Darbus) and "Nunsense!" (Sister Hubert). Opera credits include: "Vanessa" (Vanessa cover), "Hansel and Gretel" (Witch), "Die Zauberflote" (First Lady and Second Lady), "Suor Angelica" (La Zia Principessa and La Maestra della Novizie), and "Tartuffe" (Elmire). Corinne is also very passionate about working with modern composers and playwrights, and sang in the premiers of the following musicals and operas: "Some-thing from No-thing", "Scarlet Letter... The Musical", "Queen Victoria's Floating Garden of Secrets and Natural Wonders", and "Mayor Moon and the Storytelling Festival" - a children's musical that premiered in the US and then toured in Honduras as part of Middle Tennessee State University's Honduras Project.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons generally consist of 1/2 exercises and technique, and 1/2 repertoire, style and performance. Repertoire is chosen by the student and Corinne together- she will never assign a student a song they hate! Sheet music of repertoire will either be provided by Corinne or purchased by the student (most can be purchased online, downloaded and printed). Corinne generally works with accompaniment tracks for singer repertoire, so students can practice with accompaniment at home, and she can focus on listening to their singing during lessons. These can generally be purchased on Amazon.com and downloaded very cheaply. Corinne provides all singers with high quality Mp3 recordings of each lesson for easy practice of exercises and review.
