I started playing clarinet in the school band at age six. My father was a musician, and he thought that playing in the school band would help me overcome my extreme shyness. I remember my first music lesson. I really liked my teacher. He came to my house, and he helped me to care for my clarinet and make some sounds on it. I thought playing the clarinet was wonderful. Once in awhile my mom would have to urge me to practice, but I was so drawn to playing the clarinet from the start that I would practice a lot on my own.
I was the youngest member of the grade school band, but my music lessons helped me to keep up with the older kids. I had found a niche, and my niche helped me open up to other students in school and make friends.
I participated in band programs through middle school and high school. In middle school I began st
udying saxophone and flute so I could play in the jazz band. As a high school junior and senior I also got the opportunity to play in the Denver University Concert Band, and I was first chair clarinet in Colorado All-State Band and Orchestra.
I attended the University of Denver on a swimming scholarship as an Accounting Major and Music Minor. I was first clarinet in the 1st Infantry Army Band at Ft. Meade, Maryland and then I toured Europe as first chair flute in the 3rd Army Band based in Wurzburg, Germany. I was honorably discharged after a three year tour. I returned to the states and enrolled in Metropolitan State College as a Music Performance Major.
I started teaching and playing professionally during college and have done so ever since. In the course of my career I have performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO) on clarinet and saxophone, on second clarinet with the Central City Opera, and as a soloist for the Littleton and Jefferson Symphony Orchestras on clarinet and saxophone. I have performed on woodwinds for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities and the Denver Municipal Band. I have played shows at the Boulder Dinner Theater, the Country Dinner Playhouse, the Littleton Town Hall Center for the Arts, the Schwayder Theater, and the new Lone Tree Center for the Arts and with PHAMLY (the Physically Handicapped Actors & Musical Artists League) and Magic Moments.
I have played professionally many styles of music (jazz, blues, pop, ethnic, klezmer, polkas) for clubs, parties, weddings, and concerts with the Benny Goodman Band, Tommy Dorsey Band, Jay Wieder Dance Orchestra, Moments Notice, Rave Reviews, and Ad Hoc Entertainment in big band, quartet, trio and duo settings.
I have been featured on many CDs for such artists as Mary Stribling, Georgeann Low, Neil Haverstick, Big Junior, Scott Smith, Martha Yordy and Ben Cohen.
I also perform concerts and record with Combo Amazo, a band that plays original jazz, blues, bluegrass, and klezmer. We were featured on the several NPR radio shows including E-town with Richie Havens. I lead a strolling duo on clarinet with guitar that played in the Denver International Airport Concert Series for 20 years and is available for any event.

Harry helped my daughter polish up some pieces for an audition. She was nervous and didn't feel fully prepared. Three visits from Harry gave her some great instruction and the confidence to go in and nail her audition!

My son has had three lessons so far, and we have been very impressed. Mr. Grainger does a great job of encouraging my son through positive feedback, making lessons fun, and giving him very specific, targeted feedback to improve his playing. He has been very flexible and responsive to our changing needs. I highly recommend him.
Bethany is extremely nice and fun. She seems extremely knowledgeable, having a ton of experience teaching. My first lesson was a good amount of information, but not overwhelming. It is a true joy to have a teacher that is incredibly passionate about music and teaching others!!! I highly recommend Bethany for anyone looking to start playing piano.

I needed a voice coach to help me with the mechanics of singing. Bethany gave me advice on proper breathing, warm ups and vocal exercises, dietary do's and don'ts, etc. Her knowledge and experience helped me tremendously. I highly recommend Bethany.
I have been teaching clarinet for 22 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I look forward to working with you.
Hello, my name is Doyle B. and I am eager to help you reach your goals! I've been teaching private lessons since 1992 and have loved helping my students win competitions at the state level, learn how to advance rapidly on their instrument, and fall in love with making music. I have 3 earned degrees from Pensacola Christian College (B.S. in Music Ed., 1992), Hobe Sound Bible College (A.A., 1993) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (Master of Church Music, 1996). I have experience teaching all of the band instruments, violin, guitar, and piano. I'm an enthusiastic, upbeat person who greatly enjoys working with people of all ages. I am presently employed at Hobe Sound Bible College and Christian Academy. I presently have students in New Jersey, South Dakota, Florida, and Maryland, who I teach using Skype or FaceTime. Fortunately,
I have a couple openings in my schedule to teach any one who is serious about excelling on his/her instrument. I look forward to helping you reach your potential.
When I received my masters in music, I also minored in clarinet, studying with the Clarinet Professor at my university. I can teach you classical clarinet, all essential skills and functions that you need to know. Will provide fingering chart and exercises to help work on pedagogical techniques.
Hello! My name is Alexia and I have been frequently teaching students at middle, high, and even private schools in the area. Just let me know your goals that you want to reach and I will do everything I can to assist you there!
I’m a professional clarinetist and woodwind instructor with 8 years of teaching experience, four of which include instruction at institutions of higher learning. I have a passion for developing smaller studios into well-established programs and helping students define and accomplish their musical goals.
Leslie is a Denver based musician—clarinetist and teacher—who performs in solo and collaborative projects across the state while maintaining an active teaching studio. Leslie is in high demand as both a performer and teacher. Recent performances include solo performances is Denver and Stapleton, several chamber performances with her wind trio Enigma and the Lamont Clarinet Choir, and appearances with the Lone Tree Symphony, the San Juan Symphony, Lakewood Symphony, the Denver Pops Orchestra, the Littleton Symphony, the Lamont Symphony Orchestra, and extensive time playing Eb clarinet with the Lamont Wind Ensemble.
After she began playing clarinet with her hands switched, and consequently as the worst clarinetist in her band, Leslie began studying privately and soon discovered a passion for teaching and helping her own students improve
the way her teachers helped her. Leslie is a passionate educator who has spent time on faculty at Mt. Holyoke College and the Eaglebrook School. She currently maintains a private studio in Denver and is an active guest clinician across Colorado.
Leslie studied clarinet at Adams State, the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and recently completed a Performance Certificate at the University of Denver. Influential teachers include Dr. Tracy Doyle, Claudia Weir, Michael Sussman, and Dr. Jeremy Reynolds. Leslie loves the color green, otters, Beethoven Symphony Number 7, Mozart operas, Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, the smell of rosemary, and her rather aggressive, toothless cat.
Hello! I'm glad you found me! I've been teaching privately for about 8 years now, and I've been in the Denver area for about 3 years. I have a lot of experience in teaching and working with students K-12. Previously, I was a high school band director in Nevada and I've also worked with children with special needs as a part of a program called A.W.A.R.E. in Montana. Because of these experiences I've developed a unique and effective method of teaching clarinet. I think you will find that I am attentive, adaptable, patient, and encouraging in our lessons. My major teachers are Dr. Christopher Kirkpatick, Abby Raymond of the Colorado Symphony, and I've just finished up my studies with Dr. Jeremy Reynolds.

I began teaching in-home lessons to K-12 and adult students in 2010. Since then I have: 1) Taught thousands of fun and engaging lessons to over 150 students 2) Helped high school students attain successful college music auditions 3) Had students on saxophone AND clarinet place successfully in All-State and All-County Honors Bands and Gifted and Talented Ensembles
Whether your student is excelling and wants new musical challenges to stay engaged or you think they could enjoy music but are struggling to keep up, I have experience with that situation. I am a passionate performer myself, and I released my debut jazz album in early 2018. I truly believe that music is one of the greatest sources of joy in the world.
I played the sax through high school and then stopped playing until I retired ~ 4 years ago. I started lessons with Julian when he lived nearby and have continued with "skype" lessons since he moved out of the area. He's a great teacher: motivational, thorough knowledge of both classical and jazz, kind, good sense of humor, and a good communicator. I highly recommend him.

I highly recommend Julian as a saxophone teacher. My son started playing saxophone and taking lessons with Julian three years ago, when my son was 9 years old. Julian is patient with my son and has built a good rapport with him. Julian has always encouraged him to try his best and to not be discouraged when he makes mistakes, and that has made my son comfortable with Julian and confident enough to push himself. Also, Julian is reliable and punctual, and is good at communicating through text and email.
"Anthony is an excellent instructor. I haven't played clarinet in years and in a short amount of time he is providing great instruction on how to get my a
mbashure back. He's a positive, motivating person encouraging me to be better. He has tons of experience. Lucky to find him"
"She was great"
"I had a fabulous studying experience with Mark. He knew everything about clarinet and explained everything in a clear and understandable way. What impress
ed me the most is his exquisite approach to the music in different genres and epochs. He will help you to develop your skills and improve your understanding of the music."
"Corinne is an absolutely wonderful instructor! I took private lessons with her in middle school, and she not only gave me the skills to master several aud
itions but refined my techniques and reformed bad habits that I had acquired throughout my clarinet “career”. She enabled me to build strong practice exercises that worked specifically for me after observing how I worked as a clarinetist. Our relationship continued as I moved into high school concert and marching band as she was our clarinet instructor for various workshops and sessions. She helped me learn to lead and instruct others in my section in the role of section leader. My growth continued (even after my private lessons ended) as she learned my strengths and weaknesses in an individual and group setting. Without Corinne, I definitely would not have the accolades and/or titles in the realm of music that I have now. As an instructor, Corinne doesn’t simply care about the short term goals or specific event to which you may come to her for assistance, but she cares about the musician you will be and techniques you will possess in the long term. She will work with you to find the best foundation upon which you can build up skills, a fine repertoire, and wonderful musicianship. I have had the pleasure of working with Corinne for over 5 years now in various settings, and I can say without a doubt that there is no one better for any clarinet instruction you may need!"
"Awesome teacher! I was really impressed by his thorough knowledge of the instrument and his fantastic constructive criticism!"
"Because of David Blumberg's expert and approachable style of teaching clarinet, my son--in just a very short time--is playing very well. Mr. Blumberg offe
rs challenges, but is very helpful in getting students to see how they can meet those challenges and continue to improve. A great instructor!"
"I have had the pleasure of being taught by Corinne for 3 years now, and not only is she a terrific clarinet instructor, she is also a great person! Corinn
e always has the best positive attitude and encourages me to continue when I get frustrated. Having a great instructor is vital to improving performance and Corinne is that great instructor. I have loved working with her over the past years and I would continue to work with her forever if I could! 11/10 recommend!!"
"Mikaela is a fantastic clarinet instructor!
Happening across Takelessons.com while in search of a good clarinet teacher for our daughter, was by far the
easiest and most rewarding. We feel grateful to have been so lucky.
Mikaela has been EXCELLENT in every sense of the word. She comes on time to our home for every lesson. She takes her time with our daughter and teaches in a way that makes our daughter look forward to each lesson. Mikaela is extremely knowledgeable about the instrument and what she is teaching, and it shows each and every time she teaches. The very first lesson, Mikaela let us know that our daughters instrument was not working properly (we didn't have a clue). She knew exactly what was wrong with it, and we had it fixed by the next lesson. Her communication with our daughter and with us is the best it could possibly be. We are so happy and fortunate to have found the perfect match for our 12 year old clarinet player. Our daughter was recently complimented by her music teacher at school, and was very excited to hear how well she is progressing."
