About Kevin
Kevin has been a guitarist for more than 28 years. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Oklahoma City University earning a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar. He went on to earn a Master of Music degree in classical guitar performance from the University of North Texas.

Kevin has been fortunate enough to have studied with some of the world's foremost classical guitarists. In addition to instruction from Tom Johnson, professor of guitar at UNT, he has studied privately for a number of years with Christopher McGuire, a pupil of Andres Segovia and a very well respected member of the guitar community. With the help of these mentors, Kevin was able to perform in master classes of numerous world famous classical guitarists, including Manuel Barrueco, Carlos Barbosa-Lima, Jason Vieaux and Pepe Romero.

"Kevin has demonstrat
ed a great understanding of both the technical and artistic elements of music. He is one of the finest students I've taught in my twenty seven years of teaching." - Christopher McGuire, 2002

Kevin
has performed extensively in concerts, recitals and competitions as a
solo artist and as a member of various guitar ensembles. He has served
as guest performer/lecturer for colleges in Oklahoma and Texas, and has
served on the music faculty of various academies and junior colleges.
The classical training he has received has enabled Kevin to excel at
many styles of guitar playing. He has performed with numerous rock
bands as lead guitarist, and is also half of the acoustic guitar duo Almost Spanish.

FUN AND EFFECTIVE. My lessons are always tailored to the individual student, but all students learn music theory in addition to guitar. I am thorough, but not overly strict. And don't worry, it won't feel like homework.

I believe that music lessons should be fun for the student. If you enjoy the lessons, you will more likely enjoy practicing and will therefore achieve better results. So I make sure to include songs and tricks that the student really likes in the curriculum.

I use a variety of methods, depending on the student.

Within 6 months, my guitar students can expect to have a strong understanding of basic music theory and how to apply that knowledge to the guitar. They will know how to read music in both guitar tablature and standard notation. If they have practiced, they will be able to play complete songs that have been chosen along the way. More advanced students will find that they have improved technique, improved accuracy and control, improved tone, and stronger improvisational skills.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My studio is comfortable, and fully equipped with all the necessary tools for great lessons, including amps, cables, effects pedals, and audio/video recording equipment for those who wish to have a recorded copy of their lessons.

*** Specialties ***
The majority of my expertise in in classical guitar and electric rock guitar.

My daughter really enjoyed learning from Kevin because of his expertise, patience and what an "awesome" instructor he is! She especially appreciated the fact that he geared all lessons towards her music style and interests. I myself enjoyed having him for my daughters instructor because of his professionalism, punctuality and calm demeanor. Kevin always made the time to answer any questions I had. Learn to perform in public. How to be professional on any stage and any situation including auditions, concerts, clubs and studio work. Learn about sound systems and amplification. How to play with other musicians. How to rehearse effectively. How to plan set lists. How to manage a band and even how to book yourself and/or your band.

About Ricardo
I have been a professional musician and teacher all my adult life. Music is my passion and has always been how I make a living. I teach piano/keyboards, guitar, voice, bass and ukulele. I studied classical piano at SUNY at Buffalo and I initially learned to play guitar and singing on my own. Years later I studied voice and guitar with great professional instructors. I am familiar with different ways of learning music: from very structured and traditional methods (that we use in classical music) to more improvisational and "by ear" approaches as we often do in popular music. This helps me tailor my music teaching specifically to each student based on his/her musical preferences, abilities and learning style. I can teach all styles of music including: Pop, Rock, Blues, Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, many different Latin styles including Salsa, B
olero and Bossa Nova.
I have performed all over the US and toured many countries including Mexico, Canada, Argentina, Uruguay, England and France. I have recorded more than 100 CDs for many artists (as well as my own original music) as a pianist/keyboardist, singer, guitarist and music producer. I have won many awards including most recently the Best Blues Band award as the pianist, guitarist and singer for the Lionel Young Band at the International Blues Challenge (the largest competition of blues bands in the world).
I have taught music through my whole career. Many of my students have gone on to study music as a career and have become successful professional musicians.
I am very comfortable teaching all levels from professional musicians to very beginners at any age.
I currently lead and perform with my group. We perform concerts, private events and some club work. My life as a professional musician has given me a lot of knowledge to share with my students.

*** Lesson Details ***
I adjust my approach based on what you want to learn, always with an emphasis on learning as much as possible while making the lessons fun and enjoyable. If you are a beginning piano/keyboard or guitar student I can teach you the basics of how to read music and how to play chords in the first few months and then we can decide whether you are interested in playing written music or more improvisational styles. I use different method books depending on the student and sometimes I use just my teaching materials if you are only interested in improvisational styles like Rock or Blues guitar or piano (for example). If you are a voice student, I teach with a combination of learning songs you like and using a CD/MP3s of vocal exercises that help develop good vocal technique. Whatever your instrument and musical preference you can be sure we'll have fun and you'll be making music from the very start!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a Yamaha upright piano and keyboards. I have acoustic and electric guitars, bass and amps. I have Shure Sm-58 mics to teach microphone technique with.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Student must have his/her own instrument and metronome (or equivalent) must purchase course book(s) if needed..

*** Specialties ***
I teach different styles depending on the students goals. I can teach a traditional classical style for those interested in classical music and I can teach more practical approaches for popular music such as learning by chords (for instrumental students- not voice obviously) and learning improvisation through scales, arpeggios and music theory.

Work with students on stage presence and audition/performance techniques.

About Sunnie
I grew up in Colorado and received my Bachelor of Arts degree from CU. My main focus of studies was theatre arts, including acting classes, dance, musical theatre, voice, and music theory. I've been playing the piano since I was 8 and singing just as long. i spent years in LA, Las Vegas, Nashville and Austin "honing" my craft: singing with bands, songwriting, and doing musicals. I have also in the past few years learned to play the guitar and refreshed my piano skills (after a few years off). My proudest accomplishment now are my 2 CDs of all original music, both released in the last few years :) I am eager to teach all I've learned in the past to new students!

*** Lesson Details ***
My focus in a lesson is not just to teach someone how to sing or play, but how to perform. I want them to learn presence- how to be comfortable on st
age, in front of an audience, holding a microphone, etc. I am very laid back and easy going, I too was a student once and know how intimidating it can be! I help students prepare for upcoming performances or auditions, so they can be at their best not just musically, but blow everyone away with their star quality! My vocal styles are pop, rock, country, r&b, and musical theatre. I'm also available to help with songwriting. One more thing, if any singers out there are going into the studio to record, I can help you prepare for that experience, as it's much different than live singing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Has a room dedicated to lessons, piano lessons on Casio CDP 220R

*** Travel Equipment ***
I have a guitar, music books, karaoke CDs for voice lessons

Sunny is a great teacher.

Being an older beginner, I wasn't sure at first if learning to play the piano would be feasible, but after my first lesson with Sunny if felt a lot better about accomplishing this life-long dream.
Sunny is a great teacher, very good at explaining the music theory and the lessons take place in a calm and relaxed environment.
She picked the right study materials and after 11 months of lessons I am able to play easy songs (with both hands).

About Scott
Hi! I'm Scott, and I'm a native of this great State of Colorado! I fell in love with the drums in 6th grade, and have never looked back! I too, began by taking private lessons, having been fortunate to be able to study under one of the best performers and private teachers in the Rocky Mountain West at the time. Beginning private instruction in Elementary School, I continued for 7 years even while embarking on a performance career in high school. Since then I've both performed and recorded a wide variety of styles including most forms of rock, country, jazz, pop, Gospel, symphonic/orchestral styles, and concert and marching band styles. I've also been fortunate to be able to teach many other students over these last 29 years of my career, and watch them achieve their own goals in drumming. It's my belief that, whether you want to do well i
n school, drum corp, or perform or record professionally, private instruction is absolutely necessary in order to succeed. It's also my belief that you can have a lot of fun along the way!

*** Lesson Details ***
First, we start in a studio environment with no distractions, enabling us to get a lot done in the time we have. I supply all of the appropriate teaching materials at no additional cost to the student/parents. I also strongly encourage parents, especially of the younger students, to sit in on the lessons so they know first hand what's being taught (I have a designated, comfortable parents and guests area for that very reason). Then, if you're just starting out, we'll work through the basics. If you're already an Intermediate level student, we'll review basics to make sure the foundation is there. Basic techniques are the building blocks on which all careers or school successes are built. Then we move into areas that take the you where YOU want to go, whether it's great grades in school, auditions for a high profile drum corp, or performing and recording with either your own band or an existing pro band that you've auditioned for and taken the spotlight in. We can focus on one or more forms of rock, country, jazz, pop, Gospel, symphonic/orchestral styles, or concert and marching band styles. No matter the end goal, it's your life - and it's my job to build the foundation in you and help you get where you want to go. Above all, the key to successful private instruction is providing an atmosphere that promotes quality teaching in a safe environment, and instills the confidence a person needs to stand out in the crowd!

*** Studio Equipment ***
I supply all of the teaching material at no additional cost. The in-studio lessons are taught in the basement which is finished w tile flooring and area rugs under the main set. The room also includes a work study area, waiting area with seating for parents, and parking is available. Home includes 1 dog that is not in the studio or student entrance. Parking is in the driveway.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I supply all of the teaching material at no additional cost. I can also bring sticks if needed.

*** Specialties ***
I have been performing professionally since 1982, and during that time have played a wide variety of styles, including most forms of rock, country rock, Gospel, jazz, Broadway, symphonic arrangements, and marching band styles. The recording/studio work I've done has also required a variety of custom playing styles and techniques.

Scott is an incredibly patient teacher. Our 6 year old has been working with him for quite a few months. Its really difficult to keep the attention of a 6 year old, but Scott has different techniques to keep him interested. He has taught our son to read music in a very short time. He has taught the importance of practice as well as warming up. He has no problem coming to our house to teach, which gives our son the comfort of home. Scott is very patient and extremely flexible and we are enjoying working with him.

Its amazing seeing our little boy reading the music and playing the drums.

We highly recommend Scott in every way!

Scott is one of the best teachers I've come in contact with.

He is great with people! He really goes into the need for knowing basics if you're going to do well at any of the playing styles. It makes it so much easier to play just about anything, instead of having to start from scratch to learn every individual style of music there is, which is really important when you're doing recording like I am. He's also great in encouraging individual creativity in playing, and not just staying "inside the box." That really makes a person stand out from everyone else, which is what needs to happen if you're going to be noticed and be successful.

I have toured around the world with a variety of groups from the 50"s music of The Original Drifters to covers bands, original pop rock bands, and original projects that help me see the Caribbean, Europe and Italy as well as most of the United States.

About bob
The music heard around my house in my youth had a country twang until Elvis came along and the music rocked and rolled! In the late 60's I heard "Born To Be Wild" by Steppenwolf and I was sold!
While living in Atlanta Georgia during the 80"s I toured with The Original Drifters (Under the Boardwalk/Up On the Roof) and a Supremes cover band called Mocha. They were booked by the William Morris Agency who would actually fly us to gigs around the country! Fun! One weekend would see us in Florida the next in Arizona.
To learn more about music I moved to California and became a student at Musicians Institute of Hollywood. Being exposed to one of the coolest musical environments 24/7 was a dream come true. For my hard work I received a Student of the Year award and was eventually hired to work for the school and became a substitute teacher for
the entire guitar staff which included Scott Henderson, Allen Hinds and Norman Brown.
The staff was encouraged to gig so I toured from California to Nashville with a variety of bands and visited the Caribbean Islands aboard an actual love boat playing jazz and birthday songs! The rock band Exile took me to the Scandinavian countries with a side trip to Switzerland. My dream of letting the music take me places was working out!
Moving to Boulder in 1996 gave me the opportunity to start my own teaching business while also meeting future songwriting partners.
Dennis Wanebo and I produced our 3rd Martian Acres cd €œIII at my Oilpan Studios during 2013 as well as his €œRunning on Gravity cd. Songwriter Lisa Bell and I toured Italy for 3 weeks in 2010 that inspired a co-produced The Italian Project€ cd in 2013.
My songwriting passion is currently being nurtured by working with the Lincoln Avenue Songwriting Society a group of 7 local songwriters who also perform locally and lend support to the art of writing.
I live in Boulder Colorado with my son Max and my wife Kelly. I love to perform, teach, write, record music.

I have taught private lessons on all woodwinds, plus one brass instrument (trumpet.) I also teach beginning piano and voice. I have taught since 1999. I also play flute and piccolo in the Colorado Wind Ensemble (since 2000,) and oboe in the Thornton Community Band since 2012. I have extensive experience teaching in schools
