My high school daughter has received trumpet lessons from Jonathan for over a year. He is an excellent instructor, very knowledgeable and patient. As a school teacher, he knows how to work with kids in a way that gives him an advantage over a non-teacher performing artist. We've done lessons both in person and online. I'd highly recommend Jonathan to any parent looking to have their middle school/high school student take private lessons.

Jonathan is very patient with my kid and made the first lesson fun.

Good habits and an excellent attitude make great cellists. It doesn't hurt to love music too. I love music and I love to share my passion with my students.

Having a teacher who is an experienced performer is an important quality in a teacher. I am a professional classical musician currently working as a freelance cellist in the Chicago area. I play with Chicago Philharmonic, the Northbrook Symphony, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, and the Northwest Indiana Symphony, among others. Before coming to Chicago I played for 13 seasons with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra.

I have taught privately for over 10 years including 2 years in Paris. My teaching is a reflection of my teacher, Phillippe Muller. I studied with Msr. Muller while studying at the Paris Conservatory. Msr. Muller is currently a Professor of Cello at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

About Wei

Even though I have been teaching and performing on the cello for most of my life, it's not all there is to who I am. I am a chef (almost--12 weeks to go), a mom, a wife. I have a cute little Tibetan Terrier that loves visitors. My husband and I love hiking in beautiful places. Studying with m

Hi there! I'm Jorge M., a bay area freelance cellist and music coach. My specialty is in chamber music; an intimate setting of musicians. I earned my BM and MM from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, have been teaching the art of cello for people from all walks of life for over 10 years.
I can't wait to teach you the wonders of learning and playing music. My teaching methods are always modified for the individual's body, and I encourage self exploration of the body and mind to achieve musical goals. Through self love of the body, we find and acknowledge the limits, and then find ways to overcome technique. Learning music has a different meaning for everyone, and I aspire to guide you in your journey. For the younger students, my fundamental purposes are to guide them on 'how to learn, by observing the present' and guide them with their reasoning process for better practice (not only applied to cello).

I currently have both in-home lessons (+ a travel fee) and studio ...

I have been teaching cello to beginner and intermediate students for over six years. Previous students I have worked with have gone on to successfully audition for pre-college music programs and regional orchestras. While my background is in classical music, I have experience in arranging and teaching pop, rock, and movie music on cello; I aim to explore and celebrate all genres, and hope to give students the ability to connect with the music they truly love.

About Isabella

I recently graduated with a B.M. in cello performance at the Juilliard School. I have over six years of private teaching experience with beginner and intermediate cellists, but have been involved in music education since 2012: I am the co-founder and former director of the Congers Summer Music Camp

Is Cello Hard to Learn? Read THIS Before Taking Lessons

Many beginning musicians wonder, “Is cello hard to learn?” The process of learning the cello is not difficult, but it’s important to keep in mind that the cello is not an instrument of instant gratification. It does require focused, daily practice time and a good teacher to guide you along the way. How far you progress with cello is a direct result of the amount of quality time you put into practicing the instrument. Even someone who puts in just 30 minutes a day will notice a signi …
