Hello, my name is Alec! I am looking to tutor high school and college level math courses that include PreCalculus, Calculus 1(AB) and 2(BC). I have experience that has developed me into a proficient and reliable tutor. Recently, I worked for a college as a Calculus 1, Calculus 2, PreCalc, and Trig tutor, which helped me gain critical experience. I also have great grades and retention in the classes I endeavor to tutor in. I attained A's in college level Calculus 1 and PreCalculus. I won't just help you understand your class content, but I can also support you in your test taking and test studying. My credentials in test taking include having 4 years of test taking experience in college and great test scores in the classes I want to tutor such as high A's on more than half of my tests in Calc 1 and PreCalc 1. Another advantage that I provide, is that I am very aware of the best ways to learn. As it pertains to retaining what you learn, I know the importance of letting the student work ...

As an engineer, I use calculus on a daily basis to solve problems, and this includes multivariable and vector calculus. Taking a calculus course and knowing the steps to solve a derivative or integral is one thing, but applying calculus concepts to problems in engineering and physics (i.e. biomechanics or fluid mechanics) is the true mark of understanding calculus something I've learned how to do over many years of applying what I learned in my calculus courses. Sure, calculus can be a challenging subject at times, but with a focus on geometric representations, attaining a solid understanding of the concepts is well within reach, and that is the way I approach the subject with my students. For example, I don't just show you how to analytically solve an integral, I show you what an integral is, and what the solution means. When you understand calculus on this level, you'll be able to work through any of the curve ball questions your teacher might throw in on an exam.

I am a math tutor at Brookdale Community College. I tutor students in a variety of college math courses, going from basic algebra up to Calculus 3. With a good foundation, any topic is manageable. Homework is key and my students have to complete it before our lesson. The key to succeeding in math is to be extremely organized and have a notebook which contains class notes, homework and extra practice problems. I encourage my students to rewrite the class notes after they come home from school. This way the students actually understand what happened. I also help prepare students for the Calculus AB and BC exams as well as the math portions of the ACT and SAT exam. Before any of my lessons I ask the student to send me an outline of the topics they would like to go over and I prepare accordingly. This way my time and their time is used efficiently.
