I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge.

About Valyncia
I believe everyone has the ability to sing … some better than others, of course, -- but regardless, I believe every voice can make a beautiful sound. I believe learning to sing requires team work: with the proper instruction and learning tools from me, the instructor, and with the dedication (practice, practice, practice) from you, the student, a well-rounded singer can emerge. If you can hear the proper note, I can help your vocal instrument play to its fullest abilities.

I began singing when I was five years old in church. I continued singing exclusively inspirational music until I was a teenager. At that time, in addition to the second soprano part I sang in a five-part harmony a Capella (without instrumental accompaniment) Gospel group, I also sang in a few bands (Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, and Rock). My undergraduate studies we
re completed at the American University, where I majored in Communications (B.A.), and minored in Music, voice being my instrument. During my undergraduate studies, I was recruited and performed as the lead female vocalist for a Rock band that a few fellow music students had formed. While in college, I was trained in classical voice, piano, music theory, musical theater performance, and vocal pedagogy (vocal training). My vocal pedagogy studies credentialed me to become a professional vocal instructor. I began teaching voice after I earned my degree, and have been teaching private voice lessons for over ten years.

Most of my present expertise in teaching voice grew from my vocal pedagogy studies, my teaching experience which has developed over time, my own personal vocal dedication, and my training and understanding of various genres of vocal performance. My present singing career is as an inspirational singer; my vocal students encompass various genres in which I have experience, including: Inspirational, Rhythm and Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical, as well as various degrees of popular music.

*** Audition Preparation ***
I have coached many of my students to prepare for auditions: auditions to be accepted into performing arts schools, parts in musicals and plays, joining a band or vocal ensemble, as well as auditions for televised singing shows, such as "The Voice," "Sunday's Best," "American Idol" and "The X Factor."

*** Lesson Details ***
I teach students by using the tried and true techniques I have found to be successful, and allow the student to be my guide as to which direction to take with his or her vocal training. Whether the student is a novice, a professional, or somewhere in between, each student, after obtaining the basic singing knowledge and techniques, will have a vocal training schedule geared to his or her individual needs and development. Lessons are for the most part very casual in nature, and the student’s dedication (practice, practice, practice) will dictate whether or not the lessons become stricter. A few months into the vocal instruction, students will be given the opportunity to learn more about reading music and sight singing, if he or she so chooses, as well as vocal performance techniques for singing in front of an audience. Within one year, dedicated students may also have the opportunity to show off what they have learned, and perform in front of an audience at a recital with other vocal students. Please note that my preference is to work with teens age 13 through adults of any age. I believe that younger voices need more time to develop and stand to be damaged if too much stress is put on them too soon. However, exceptions for children under 13 may be made for gifted young singers.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Home studio- entry room of home, baby grand piano, seating area, dry erase board, mirrors
Music Studio- one recording studio, seating area, classroom

*** Travel Equipment ***
If needed, I provide a portable piano keyboard, microphone with amplifier, paper handouts of lessons, etc. The student needs to have paper to take notes and a writing instrument.

*** Specialties ***
Most of my voice lesson experience has been with adults, and contemporary popular and inspirational music.

Ms. Valyncia was an amazing coach. She was very patient , very honest and very professional. She pushed me beyond my comfort zone and I was able to improve my breathing, improve my range and put some personality into my performance. That was a long time ago but I plan on booking her again as my coach. I highly recommend her ! You will definitely become a better singer / performer when working with her , as long as you put the work in.

Whether you want to prepare yourself for college auditions, sing better at your choir or church, or just enjoy the fun nd health benefits of singing, I can help you. With almost 15 years of teaching experience, I have come to watch many of my students go on to college and graduate school successfully. Most of them under full tuition scholarships. I am a classically trained singer myself and the approach to my lessons are over all focused on healthy emission of the voice with emphasis on breath suport and appropriate placement according to the style you want to perform: classical, musical theatre, jazz or any contemporary genre. I will help you reach your goals with vocal exercises and weekly routines designed specific for your needs. All you need is desire to learn and enjoy!

About Daniela
I hold a Bachelor degree in Vocal Performance and a Masters in Vocal Performance and Voice Pedagogy. Singing and teaching are my two passions! I am a classically trained singer with an operatic lyric soprano voice. Opera is my first love, but I also like and enjoy singing musical theatre, jazz and other contemporary genres. In fact, for quite a while I taught at a Berklee International Network School in South America, where jazz was the main emphasis of my students. I enjoy teaching students from mostly any age and any background. From beginners to more advanced singers, as they all present some form of challenge and different rewarding experiences.

Coincidentally, I have come to teach mostly teenagers and young adults, sort of specializing in college audition preparation where %100 of my students who have applied to attend music schoo
l have successfully been accepted. Most of them under full tuition scholarships to pursue singing careers. Some of them are currently attending the University of Denver, CU Boulder, University of the Redlands, University of British Columbia, Universitat Mozarteum (Salzburg). I also have experience teaching senior citizens from a community choir and members from an all visually impaired choir. I have never encountered any difficulty while teaching students with special needs. This experiences have actually made me become a better more creative educator.

My lessons are focused on healthy emission of the voice working on breath support and adequate placement of the voice according to the style. Once we have gone through a diagnostic and discuss the student´s goals, I prepare a routine of vocal exercises tailored for the individual needs and skill level of the student as well as negotiate on the repertoire that the student wants to sing.

If teaching in the student´s home, I expect for the student to have at least a basic music keyboard for pitch matching purposes. I also expect my students to practice in between lessons so that every time we meet we can add another layer of knowledge. This will bring gratification and fulfillment to both of us!

Dani is a really special instructor for me! She helped me realize how big my passion for singing was because, since the beginning, she has inspired me with her singing, passion, and knowledge. She was my teacher for 4 years and she prepared me to get into CU Boulder’s School of Music. With her guidance I improved not only my vocal technique, but my musicality, acting skills, languages, and every single aspect that a singer needs to be a professional artist. She was really specific and patient about my growth as an opera singer and she always helped me find the perfect repertoire for me. I can say that I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her. Dani saw the best in me even when I didn’t, and I am still learning a lot from her.

Daniela has been my favorite vocal trainer so far. Besides her expirience and knowledge about the voice, she took time to really listen to my voice and identify things I was doing wrong, or things I did not even know how to do. She empowered me so much that now I actually use my whole body to sing, and I also feel more confident to do challenging things, with my voice, with no harm. I feel that there is a before and after, in my voice, thanks to Daniela as my teacher.

I focus lessons highlighting any genre around technique. Cultivating one's technique establishes good habits regarding things like breath, and posture, which will help maintain a singers overall vocal health. In addition to classical repertoire I have experience working with musical theater, pop, jazz, soul, and country.

About Chelsea
Let's make some music!!!

“Music can change the world because it can change people.”
―Bono

“Where words fail, music speaks.” ―Hans Christian Andersen

Here's the why and how:
As an educator, I've had experience teaching both young children and adults in many settings, whether it be in a classroom, small group lesson, or one-on-one. I pride myself on providing lessons that are uniquely individual and foster a students strengths while also building on their weaknesses. The best part about being a music educator is that I get to share my love of music with all of my students. With that said, whether you are a beginner who's interest has been sparked, or you have aspirations of becoming a professional musician I can help you there!

Lessons are catered to each student and are conducted in a supportive environment where students ar
e encouraged to take risks, try new things, make mistakes, and most importantly be themselves.

I value the time I have with my students and expect each student to come prepared to each lesson with an open mind and willingness to work. With music, the best results come to those who put in 100% both during lessons and during individual practice time. This is key in any musical pursuit. Overall, I want lessons to be enjoyable while still maintaining a sense of progress for the student.

Here's a little more about me:
In 2005 I made my operatic debut in Italy with Operafestival di Roma in their main stage production of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro. While in Rome, I was also featured in Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. Over the years I've been featured as a soloist in other concert and oratorio works such as Villa-Lobos's Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, Rutter's Requiem, and Mozart's Requiem.

Along with my classical training, I've taken on several roles in musicals such as, The King and I, Guys and Dolls, Oklahoma, and The Boyfriend. I am an honored NATS (National Association for the Teachers of Singing) competitor, Peabody Scholarship recipient, and Bland Music Scholarship recipient. Recently, I had the opportunity to work with the Richmond Philharmonic Orchestra on their spring and summer concert series and was asked to perform the National Anthem and God Bless America at Game 2 of the ALDS during one of the MLB's 2014 postseason games (Baltimore Orioles vs. Detroit Tigers). When I'm not singing, you may find me enjoying a run through the neighborhood, or enjoying some time with my cat CJ.

I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees form the Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University.

I needed last minute coaching for an upcoming audition and was feeling unprepared and frazzled. Chelsea easily knew what I needed. She made recommendations, was wonderfully engaging, and her insight and ear highlighted some important tweaks that I would have overlooked in my haste to prepare. After just one session I felt clearer, calmer, and considerably more confident. Bonus: Chelsea is incredibly kind, fun to work with and makes you feel you already know one another. I will teach my students how to brilliantly, but safely, belt out these thrilling Broadway roles. My youngest student now learning the BROADWAY BELT style is 9 years old!

About Amber
Growing up in Denver, I had a huge desire for singing and performing. By age 14, I was taking weekly singing & piano lessons, was acting constantly in local productions-many times getting the lead role.
Some of the productions I acted in: The Wizard of Oz (Dorothy), Camelot, Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney), How to Succeed in Business (Smitty), Carousel, Oklahoma, Les Miserables, and Oliver (Nancy.)
I received a 4-year scholarship to the Conservatory of Music in Stockton, CA. at the University of the Pacific. Upon graduation, I entered graduate school at the University of North Texas to continue my singing and piano studies, along with music theory, history, and musical video production.
Upon graduating UNT, I was chosen among 200 performing arts majors to be the featured soloist at the UNT commencement ceremonies. This led to an off
er to tour Italy with the Rome Festival Orchestra. For the next two summers I performed in Copenhagen, Istanbul, Rome and Berlin with the Berlin Philharmonic.

I have teaching students how to sing musical theater for 5 years. I teach how to add character to your singing and how to act out your songs fluently, how to enunciate, and of course how to sing correctly!

About Ellen
As Abbe' Dimnet once said, "Children have to be educated, but they have also to be left to educate themselves."

I aim to teach my students how to sing through kinesthesia. This allows them to internalize what they are doing in the studio so they can practice it at home and be more successful. Practicing what they learn in the studio will help them gain good habits, making singing and performing more effortless. One of the hard things about learning how to sing, is learning to use muscles you can not see. This is why kinesthesia is important! It helps the student learn how everything feels, so they can produce free, open, resonant sounds.

I also aim to teach my students artistry! Music can be a powerful influence in our lives and society. It is important for a student to learn to connect with their music so they can be better perfor
mers.

Last, I am a member of NATS. This allows me to continue my education on the voice and gives me new insights from other great teachers and vocal scientists around the nation. By being a member of this association, it also allows me to give my students opportunities to compete in competitions and get feedback from other great teachers.

I grew up in Centennial, Colorado and started playing the violin in 4th grade. I developed an interest in singing in middle school, and started voice lessons when I was 16. I have been singing ever since!

I graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho in April 2009, with a Bachelor degree in Music Science. I emphasized in vocal instruction.

I am happily married to my husband, Kevin, who is currently studying to be an optometrist.

Phantom of the Opera, Carlotta - Andrew Lloyd Webber's German production - International experience 1991-2001

About Patrice
My interest is in developing singers to become a better version of themselves and help them reach their goals. Many of my students are singing professionally in Colorado, New York and internationally.

Background includes international and national performance credits in both opera and musical theatre. My last major gig was Carlotta in Andrew Lloyd Webber's German production of Phantom of the Opera in Hamburg, Germany for ten years.
We sang eight times a week in German! All backstage activities were in English due to the truly International cast. I loved every minute of living and working in Continental Europe.

In May, I'll be singing one of the leading soprano roles with Opera Fort Collins in The Fairy Queen by Purcell. I'm hoping my costume will have a set of white wings like the Gynbourne production.

Broadway and musical theater has always been one of my favorite styles. The acting, singing, and dancing are what I love. I have been singing on the stage for quite a while and performing in plays and musicals. I have taken classes and continue to hone my gift as a performer. I would love to help you hone your gift as well.
Lessons:
It is very important to feel comfortable when learning something new so that you are not afraid to fail. Getting over the fear of failing is the initial part that will free you to experiment with your voice and really grow. You will find a safe space here to do that.
In our lessons we will work on vocal agility, range, improvisation, healthy singing and healthy projection, diction, harmony, different genres and music theory.
I am so excited to get to know you and your voice and how much you will grow!

About Leah
Leah, a teacher, singer/songwriter, musician, entertainer and Berklee College of Music graduate.

She loves teaching and loves her students. Her main joy in teaching is watching her students grasp a new understanding and appreciation for their desired art and growing in their skills and talent. She loves seeing her students overcome obstacles. In her lessons, Leah sets the tone for care and a safe space to truly grow fearlessly. It is important to grow in confidence in your craft. In lessons, she covers setting a foundation, different genres, confidence, warm-up exercises, vocal techniques, ear training, music theory, harmony, performance techniques, audition preparation, range, improvisation, agility, freedom and more. She focusses on a few things at a time and has her students grow into other areas to work.

Musically, she provides
sounds and smooth tones of Jazz and Soul. Her latest EP entitled SonKissed is Jazz influenced music with Neo-Soul vibes and a positive message about love and life. She has been singing around Boston and New York and writing and recording new music. She has great things in store for her in the near future and much music and passion to share with the world.

Originating from Henderson, North Carolina, she grew up singing in school, church and choirs including the Raleigh Girls Choir of Raleigh, NC. Taking singing and piano lessons grew her love for music. She always had a fondness of jazz music starting at a young age, as her father would play jazz music. Studying music has led her to perform in recitals, concerts and festivals such as the Mozart Music Festival with The Capital City Girl’s Choir in Vienna, Austria, to study and perform abroad in Valencia, Spain, to graduate from Berklee College of Music and to continue writing, performing and growing as an artist. Leah also enjoys being involved in and performing in community events as she gives back. It is very important to her to help others as many have helped her.

She gets much of her inspiration from influences such as Jesus Christ, her parents, Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, Dianne Reeves, Lisa Fischer, Sammy Davis Jr., Sade, Anita O’day, India Arie, Erykah Badu, Adele, Diana Ross, Alicia Keys, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Mary Mary, Robin Thicke, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Esperanza Spalding, Miles Davis, Al Jarreau, Nancy Wilson, Ledisi, Sounds of Blackness, Take 6, Gretchen Parlato, and Quincy Jones just to name a few.

I currently am a music director at a Catholic church where I sing and play the piano, although my music experience is much more extensive. My primary instrument is the oboe (I have a B.M. degree in oboe performance), but I also play and teach the violin, piano and voice.

As well as music directing and teaching, I am a huge theatre nerd! I love musicals especially and my usual role is director or stage manager. I can offer pre-audition lessons to help you prepare for anything you may have coming up : )
