About April
I have picked up and loved the flute for 13 years, and I wish to share this passion and creativity with students. I have had the opportunity to study under Emily McKay and Marco Granados, as well as perform in masterclasses with Trevor Wye, William Bennett, and Lorna Mcghee. As a recent Denver citizen, I wish to grow my roots as a teacher who fosters flute playing as a fun and outside-the-box activity.
I have started teaching private lessons since high school, and into my college and graduate school years. I have taken classes on pedagogy and teaching artistry in creative ways, such as teaching students to do improvisations and asking questions in order to get them engaged in the learning process. I have played classical, jazz, pop, and latin music, and can teach an array of different genres. I believe music contributes to a well-ro
unded individual, and will gladly accept students of all experiences and ages. My goal will to always keep the student engaged and having fun!

April is wonderful. She is finding 'hidden' problems with my breathing and use, or at times misuse of my neck muscles and breathing that would be very hard for a lesser teacher to detect and work to correct.
Her ear for pitch/tone and the various 'artifact' background variances in my blowing/breathing structure and ways toward a remedy is amazing.
Any teacher can show a student posture and finger placement, but her teaching techniques go far beyond that.
I am more than pleased with her commitment to excellence.
Thank you April.

I met Lori at a recent voice competition where she was the designated pianist for my division. She rehearsed patiently, returned texts promptly, and kept a steady, cheerful attitude through two days surrounded by stressed-out singers. As for her playing, she performed challenging repertoire with grace and disciplined understatement that made it clear she was there to help us shine. It's hard for me to overstate just how good an accompanist she is.

My son began piano lessons with Rachel nearly two years ago and we have been very happy working with her. He has progressed steadily and is continually challenged to improve. She selects musical pieces that fit his personal interests as well as more traditional pieces with increasing complexity. We hope to continue learning with her for many more years to come.

My 9-yo daughter has had Rachel as a piano teacher for the past 1.5 years. Rachel has always been professional, punctual, and an excellent communicator when it comes to things like rescheduling lessons. My daughter has advanced in piano quite a bit—I attribute much of that to the music Rachel offers. My daughter has played the themes from Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars (music she knows and is excited to learn!) along with more classical pieces (e.g., Bach). We are very happy with Rachel!

The BEST! Lauren is an impeccable musician, teacher, and vocal technician. I studied voice in college at Oklahoma City University and started taking lessons with Lauren after a 4-year break from singing. Since my first lesson, I have seen consistent improvement in my technique and confidence. My voice is the healthiest it has ever been! I am creating sounds that just BLOW ME AWAY!

Lauren has a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced. Opera to musical theater. One thing you can be certain about her is that she has a passion for teaching. The commitment to help you improve is there. In my opinion, that is what you want in a teacher. I have the utmost confidence in recommending Lauren to someone who is looking for a teacher.

Lauren is a great professional! When I started my singing lessons with her, I was not confident about my voice and I was not sure if I would be brave enough to audition for musical theater. She has been helping me to get over my fear and believe in myself more as well as she has taught me techniques that really improved my voice. Now I know that all of this is possible.

Lauren is just amazing; knowledgable, positive and encouraging. I have a vocal tremor meaning my voice shakes when speaking and I lost the ability to sing. With Lauren's help, I am strengthening my voice. I had voice therapy sessions with a medically trained therapist where I made no progress and was encouraged to accept my 'limitation'. With Lauren, I didn't have to settle for accepting my limitation. Rather, I am making huge progress, thanks to her technical expertise, knowledge and encouragement, My speaking tremor is nearly gone and I can sing again!

As a folk artist, I also know how to bend the rules when necessary and create something unexpected. I have been teaching for 8 years and my favorite part of lessons is when I learn something new from my students. I love making sure my students not only feel that they are getting a quality education by learning from me, but that they also feel that they can express themselves and that they have something new and unique to offer the world. The more I teach, the more I learn.

2 secrets to getting good;
1. Enjoy the sound of your instrument. 2. Play songs that you love.

I've been playing guitar for 20 long years! I specialize in two types of guitar styles; classical and heavy metal. I'm currently learning to play gypsy jazz and can teach beginners this style as well.
I have extensive knowledge in extended range guitars (7 strings and 8 strings) and classical guitars as well.
The most important part of learning a new instrument is that it's fun and enjoyable. If it's not enjoyable you're guaranteed to quit, so it's paramount to make playing guitar a fun activity and not a chore. The key to achieving the balance between discipline and fun is making sure you enjoy the sound of your instrument, and playing songs that you love.
