About Harry
I started playing clarinet in the school band at age six. My father was a musician, and he thought that playing in the school band would help me overcome my extreme shyness. I remember my first music lesson. I really liked my teacher. He came to my house, and he helped me to care for my clarinet and make some sounds on it. I thought playing the clarinet was wonderful. Once in awhile my mom would have to urge me to practice, but I was so drawn to playing the clarinet from the start that I would practice a lot on my own.

I was the youngest member of the grade school band, but my music l
essons helped me to keep up with the older kids. I had found a niche, and my niche helped me open up to other students in school and make friends.

I participated in band programs through middle school and high school. In middle school I began studying saxophone and flute so I could play in the jazz band. As a high school junior and senior I also got the opportunity to play in the Denver University Concert Band, and I was first chair clarinet in Colorado All-State Band and Orchestra.

I attended the University of Denver on a swimming scholarship as an Accounting Major and Music Minor. I was first clarinet in the 1st Infantry Army Band at Ft. Meade, Maryland and then I toured Europe as first chair flute in the 3rd Army Band based in Wurzburg, Germany. I was honorably discharged after a three year tour. I returned to the states and enrolled in Metropolitan State College as a Music Performance Major.

I started teaching and playing professionally during college and have done so ever since. In the course of my career I have performed with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (CSO) on clarinet and saxophone, on second clarinet with the Central City Opera, and as a soloist for the Littleton and Jefferson Symphony Orchestras on clarinet and saxophone. I have performed on woodwinds for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities and the Denver Municipal Band. I have played shows at the Boulder Dinner Theater, the Country Dinner Playhouse, the Littleton Town Hall Center for the Arts, the Schwayder Theater, and the new Lone Tree Center for the Arts and with PHAMLY (the Physically Handicapped Actors & Musical Artists League) and Magic Moments.

I have played professionally many styles of music (jazz, blues, pop, ethnic, klezmer, polkas) for clubs, parties, weddings, and concerts with the Benny Goodman Band, Tommy Dorsey Band, Jay Wieder Dance Orchestra, Moments Notice, Rave Reviews, and Ad Hoc Entertainment in big band, quartet, trio and duo settings.

I have been featured on many CDs for such artists as Mary Stribling, Georgeann Low, Neil Haverstick, Big Junior, Scott Smith, Martha Yordy and Ben Cohen.

I also perform concerts and record with Combo Amazo, a band that plays original jazz, blues, bluegrass, and klezmer. We were featured on the several NPR radio shows including E-town with Richie Havens. I lead a strolling duo on clarinet with guitar that played in the Denver International Airport Concert Series for 20 years and is available for any event.

I decided to teach because I wanted to share the enthusiasm and joy I have for music with students. I feel passionate about helping develop a child’s talents as a musician. I relate to well kids and can provide an atmosphere where kids are motivated to learn. I also enjoy teaching adults.

I help the student build good fundamentals. I customize lessons to define and reach realistic goals and address students’ school band needs or other musical activities. I respect students’ other interests and pursuits. I am an experienced professional musician well versed in woodwinds and a variety of styles. I can offer students a broad spectrum of musical knowledge. I can teach all levels from a young beginner to an adult professional. I have given clinics at many local high schools. I would love to share my skills and expertise with students.

Harry helped my daughter polish up some pieces for an audition. She was nervous and didn't feel fully prepared. Three visits from Harry gave her some great instruction and the confidence to go in and nail her audition!

My son has had three lessons so far, and we have been very impressed. Mr. Grainger does a great job of encouraging my son through positive feedback, making lessons fun, and giving him very specific, targeted feedback to improve his playing. He has been very flexible and responsive to our changing needs. I highly recommend him.

About Thomas
I've performed and taught in a wide variety of settings. My early professional experiences have included 3 years in the Army Band, several cruise line contracts, and freelance work as a performer and composer. Through these times, I've learned to excel in many styles. I recently graduated from NYU, where I was an adjunct faculty member. Here, I also performed and worked with a wonderful faculty including Kenny Werner, Brian Lynch, Chris Potter, Ralph Alessi, Tony Moreno, and trumpet guru Laurie Frink, who all inspire me as a musician and a teacher. While in New York, I was a faculty member
at Douglaston School of Music and Art, where I worked with younger students .

It is my belief that discipline and technique are necessary elements that allow emotion and creativity to thrive. I also recommend a healthy dose of listening to what you love. Through this process, I strive to inspire my students, fellow musicians, and listeners.

About Dominik
Hi, I'm Dominik and I graduated with a piano performance degree and a music education degree with trumpet from Metropolitan State University of Denver where I studied with Professor Hsing-Ay Hsu, and Dr. Micheal Hengst. I began music at 8 years old, with piano lessons under Ann Riggs. A few years later, I also began trumpet lessons and joined several choirs. I continued exploring music, traveling with community choirs and bands, and joined the piano program at the Denver School of the Arts during High School. I really enjoy ensemble performance and I've participated in wind ensembles, orchestr
as, chamber ensembles, accompanying, brass ensembles, and pit orchestra for musical theatre while attending Metro State University.

I really enjoy teaching music and believe that each student can accomphlish many great things through music. I have been trained in and have performed in many different genres and styles and offer a wide range of musical knowledge to meet my students needs.

Dominik is an excellent teacher who connects well to the kids. We only used him briefly for our kids but wish we hadn't committed to a friend of a friend for future lessons. If things don't work out with the new teacher, we hope Dominik will be available to come back.

College prep music tutoring. I will teach you everything you need to know to feel comfortable entering collegiate level music courses.

About Dayton
I have a very bright and fun personality and love making lessons something to look forward to! I have played piano since I was 6 and play the flute and guitar as well. I have taught students privately and in with a group called piano and guitar institute. Through my experience I have learned to structure my lessons making them efficient and effective. During lessons I like to incorporate various resources other than just staring at music in order to make lessons more interesting and beneficial to the students. My teaching philosophy is to allow students to succeed by discovering the joys of mu
sic as opposed to viewing music as more "work".

I took lessons from Dayton for a little over a year and he was a phenomenal teacher. He's a really chill guy and always kept the lessons fun. Not only did he help me learn songs and go through music books, but he taught me all about chord structures and other music theory so that I would have a good knowledge of music. I always had a say in what I learned each lesson, along with what type of music I wanted to play. I was always so amazed when he would show me the incredible songs he knew how to play, and his knowledge of music is greater than most anyone you will ever meet. I highly recommend Dayton to anyone who is thinking of taking piano lesson- not only will you grow as a musician, but you'll have fun doing it!
