Fiddle Lessons in Franktown. Amazing Teachers.

Students can learn to fiddle in country or Irish style. In addition to the basics of learning classical violin, I teach based on the student's interest including but not limited to: improvisation over a chord progression, jamming with others, ear-training, memorization of music, music transcription and performance.

I am a fiddler and vocalist for internationally-touring and award-winning folk groups, Tullamore and Brackish Water Jamboree. In addition to my performance schedule, I am also honored to play first violin for the Hampton Roads Philharmonic. I run a thriving online teaching studio, which has been kicking since 2003, after earning my degree in violin performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Students describe me as patient, fun, and encouraging! As your teacher, you can expect me to work with you from where you are, and with subjects and curriculum that match what you are interested in learning. Experienced fiddle teacher of 10 years available for eager students of all experience levels and ages! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of violin technique skills and improvisation. We'll learn Celtic, bluegrass, rock, jazz, blues or any genre you are interested in!

Fiddle:
Fiddle is another name for the bowed string musical instrument more often called a violin, and is the term for the instrument used by players in all genres, including classical music. Fiddle playing, or fiddling, refers to various styles of music. Fiddle is also a common term among musicians who play folk music on the violin. Lessons would start with the basics: Tuning, hand/bow technique, placement, ear training, notes, reading, songs, scales, theory and learning how to take a solo.

I have over 20 years of profession touring and studio experience playing with some of the biggest names in the business that I bring to my lessons. I studied music in school and have continued to teach over the years which gives me the ability to use teaching and music school language with real world live performance experience. If you want to learn to play the way the pros do and have a lot of fun in the process, then this might be for you.
