Ciao! I am Italian and I love everything about food. I cook with all my senses. I love texture, color, smell and taste. They are all very important to me in a dish and everything needs to be balanced. I let nature guide me when choosing the freshest ingredients. I try to cook with local seasonal ingredients whenever possible.
In my classes you can learn how to make simple Italian family styles dinners for those evenings that you do not have a lot of time to cook or you can learn how to make a more elegant and sophisticated meal for a special occasion. I can teach you how to make easy healthy children's meals and amazing birthday cakes that are still healthy. I can also offer recommendation on how to stock your pantry efficiently for the weekly meals and how to choose the freshest ingredients when shopping.
My background is in foreign languages and I love traveling and meeting new people. I studied English and French in Italy before
Once in the USA I started working in the information technology field for a company that had a branch in Italy. I had to assist, translate and teach different materials in Italian and I also did some freelancing tutoring.
I have three children and I also speak and teach Italian to them only. It has been fun to see them being comfortable in speaking Italian when we go to Italy. I try to travel to Italy at least once a year.
My other passion is cooking and baking. I was lucky that I grow up with both my parents as excellent cooks. We had a vegetable garden, fruit trees and livestocks so most of the ingredients were fresh. I started cooking a lot when I moved to USA as I missed the Italian dishes very much and I realized my only connection to my country was via the food.
I also have a love for fashion! Growing up in Italy means being surrounded by beauty everywhere.. the marvelous architecture and art, the language and music, the beautiful landscapes, the fruits of nature and the fashion! I believe because of this most Italians develop a sense of style. When I moved here I realized how much harder was to find unique clothes and accessories so I enjoy the challenge to put together outfits with what I have available.

Lorna was very well prepared, had all the ingredients and tools laid out, let my grandson do much of the work measuring, mixing etc and even had baked a similar cake the night before so there would be a cool cake to frost and decorate.

Her birth place. Lorena will share simple, healthy recipes you will use for a lifetime. I learned so much from her and I'm already a glorified chef. Her signature dishes with all the Venetian secrets can be revealed in her kitchen or yours. She's a very good listener and will adapt to what your family likes to eat. I have recently graduated from The Culinary Institute of America after deciding to take a step further in to the culinary world. There, I was able to learn the fundamentals of French, Asian, Mediterranean, Latin and Italian cuisines.

My experience is solid with Mexican cuisine especially tacos. In my hometown Chicago, I have been working with a restaurant concept of new and exciting tacos. We use the humble tortilla as a vessel to transport some of the most delicious fillings from all over the world, while leaving the traditional staples of Mexican Cuisine shine on the menu.
I can organize to fulfill the needs of each individual student. The food world is very large, but depending on the interest of the student we can head on a path and part from there.
