Coming from a musical family I started piano at a young age. Continuing my studies in college, I was blessed with some fine instruction in both performance and the art of teaching both adults and students. Piano/Keyboard puts into practice all that is leaned in classroom. I strive to make all music encounters and lessons as enjoyable and enriching as possible, with a special emphasis on what the student is enjoying and wanting to learn.

About Ronald
Coming form a musical family, I cannot remember when music was not a part of my life. Both my parents were musicians, my father an instrumentalist and arranger and my mother a fine pianist. From the age of seven they encouraged and assisted my music education any way they could. Music came first in our family. My school years were spent in band, marching band and jazz band. During my high school years I took over the local elementary band and taught beginning band to the students after the band teacher had left before the school year finished.
To pay my way through college I taught piano, organ and band instruments in rural Colorado, even using a horse to get to my students when the roads were closed. During this time I was the house organist at the Alladin Theater in Denver and had the pleasure of playing for the primer of
" The Duchess and Dirtwater Fox" starring George Segal and Goldie Hawn. I also played for many churches in the area assisting with choir and congregational music.
My teaching experience is broad with both private and public school classroom experiences. I have taught privately for well over forty years in both a private and group settings. I also have a MSW ( Master Social Worker) degree from the University of Denver and for many years assisted Seniors with the challenges that they face.
Currently I am Minister of Music for First Presbyterian Church in Georgetown, Colorado ( a small mountain community west of Denver). I am organist for the Scottish Rite Temple in Denver and perform private and public events throughout the mountain and Denver area.

*** Lesson Details ***
For many years I have been blessed to go to my student's homes. In this comfortable, familiar background I have found the student is more relaxed in the learning process. With the teacher coming to the home this is one less thing for the parent to schedule in their busy schedule. I also have a comfortable studio in my home with piano, organ, keyboard and recording capabilities.
Everyone whether child or adult has a different style of learning music this is of vital importance of learning anything. This along with the students desires from their learning experience will help decide which coarse will best fit there needs. Through the years my students have shared with me that I am relaxed, easy going and make the lessons fun with a great sense of humor. I strive for the student to be playing music of their choice as soon as possible.
As we walk down the music road all aspects of music education are shared and encouraged. It is vitally important that the student has good reading skills, a basic understanding of music theory, technique, ear training and music history, as music encompasses all aspects of learning from the youngest student to the adult.

*** Studio Equipment ***
in home studio with piano, organ and keyboard and recording capabilities, with seating for parents and guests.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect the student to provide the books and any supplementary material needed such a a book to write their assignments in. I will provide the lessons and rewards if they apply to the situation such as in young students.

*** Specialties ***
I find I use many methods of instruction. The method needs to fit the student and the situation one is in. I use the Alfred Method a great deal of the time as I find it works well in many situations. As the student advances I supplement in music wants and desires as well a curriculum that may be used if they should decide to continue their studies in a university or college setting.

Specialize in beginning lessons with children focusing on proper posture, hand position, note reading and music making. I have been teaching piano 8 years

About Shannon
I hold a Bachelors of Education in Music from Florida Atlantic University. I have been teaching music for the last 4 years to students of all ages (5-65 and up). I have experience teaching in public schools in a classroom environment! Finally I am a trained music together teacher teaching in Boulder, CO.

Music has a way of reaching us all and helping us become more sensitive, compassionate, creative people. The study of music has been linked to better test scores, more creative minds, and increased critical thinking abilities. For adults returning to music or picking it up for the first time can be a rewarding hobby, a hidden passion or desire, or a change of schedule.

Music can be for anyone!

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons are designed for each individual student. No two students learn the exact same way, so no two lesson
s will be exactly the same. I expect students to practice and be prepared for every lesson and be ready each and every time to learn something new. "Perfect practice makes perfect."

All piano students should be prepared begin to learning in the classical style. This course of study covers all the basics necessary to study all genres of music and will insure students learn the rudiments and technique needed for more difficult music. Piano students will be exposed to different styles of music as they progress and will also study and practice music theory, ear training, sight reading and learn about the history of music.

Voice students will be exposed to classical voice technique as well as music of their own style choice. Like piano, selections made are meant to teach the techniques involved in singing in a healthy and supported manner. Voice students will also be exposed to ear training, sight-singing, music theory and music history and will not just be singers but well rounded musicians.

**I only accept voice students 10 years of age and older and prefer ages 14 and older. As the voice is part of body it is subject to the changes involved with growing up and is still "growing" with the student. Younger students will be on a case by case basis.

*** Studio Equipment ***
It is recommended for voice students to have a recording device readily available as well as a keyboard or piano. Students/parents will be responsible for the purchasing of any music books through the teacher when required.

A piano or keyboard will be required for all piano students for practice purposes. Students/parents will be responsible for the purchasing of any music books through the teacher when required.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Students will need access to a piano or keyboard (88 keys preferably weighted) for all piano and voice lessons. It is also recommended for voice students to have a recording device readily available. Students/parents will be responsible for the purchasing of any music books required.

*** Specialties ***
Specialize in teaching beginning to intermediate piano age 5- and up
Have experience working with special needs children.

Every student has unique needs. Any student will succeed if the instruction is tailored to their learning processes. Since every student learns in a different fashion, it is necessary to use both traditional methodology and Suzuki methodology while teaching. Each student is placed in the program and course that best suits their learning needs. I expect my students to attend the lesson every week, complete all assignments, and listen to directions.

Hello! My name is Olivia R. and I am currently a Master's student in Piano Teaching and Performance at CU Boulder.

Teaching piano is something that I love. I have taught for 7 years now in both Nashville, TN (Music City) and Little Rock, AR. My students have ranged from ages 5 to 15. Classical piano is my specialty, but I also enjoy teaching jazz, pop, and ensemble piano. I am currently employed at the Parlando School for the Arts in Boulder and teach there on a weekly basis.

As a music student and teacher, I value the qualities of hard work and excellence while also encouraging my students to never forget that music is fun and inspirational! For me, educating others in music is a way I hope to contribute positively to my local community. Being given the opportunity to share music and inspire those around me through it is a tremendous gift and privilege that I do not take for granted.

About Olivia
Hello!

I am a Master's student at CU Boulder studying Piano Teaching and Performance. For the past four years, I have lived in Nashville, TN (Music City) - obtaining my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance from Belmont University, teaching, and gigging in the city.

I specialize in classical piano, but also teach pop, jazz, and ensemble repertoire. Classical piano lessons (especially for beginners) provide a great foundation for students, even if they decide later on to pursue another musical genre. As a pianist in Nashville, I've been privileged to work with musicians from all genres. In 2012, I was featured in the holiday special, Christmas at Belmont which aired on PBS. I also had the privilege of working with three time Grammy award-winner, Michael W. Smith in 2013. In 2015 and 2016, I was fortunate to play with the Nashville Sym
phony and the Tennessee All-State Orchestra, working with world-renowned conductor, Giancarlo Guerrero.

My teaching philosophy is that music should be inspiring! I truly believe and have seen first-hand that music lessons have the power to change lives at any age. For me, teaching piano is a way to positively contribute to my local community. I am currently teaching at the Parlando School for the Arts in Boulder and hope to expand my teaching studio into the broader community.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or reference requests. I look forward to meeting you!

I can't recommend Olivia highly enough! She did an excellent job with my ants-in-his-pants 7-year-old son. She is extremely patient and knows the trick to motivate each student individually. She figured out what "made my son tick", and taught him from that perspective. One thing I especially appreciated was Olivia's ensemble piano efforts with my son and the rest of the students in her studio. They played such a sweet 8-hand piano piece for a recital. It brought down the house! It is a rare teacher that would be willing to take the time to coordinate 4 students and coach them through a song so that they'd be able to perform on a recital.

My experience with Olivia was been outstanding! While I was completing my undergraduate degree, I hired Olivia to perform a few difficult piano movements I had written. Before that point, I did not have much experience writing for piano, but she had incredible insight into making the music more idiomatic for the piano. Additionally, I received piano lessons from her to supplement my college instruction. She was very very patient and her love for the piano was clear through her instruction. I could not recommend her high enough.

I base the lessons on what my students want to learn and are interested in. I want my students to have fun while learning to play the piano and learning to read music. I want my students to enjoy learning the piano so I let them chose the songs they want to learn. I have three binders full of popular and well known songs for students to chose from. I also use piano worksheets with young beginners to help them learn the notes on the piano and their finger numbers.

About Rachel
Hi there! My name is Rachel and I am a music teacher looking for students in Arvada, Wheat Ridge, Golden, and Westminster. I also teach online lessons. I teach flute all levels, beginning/intermediate clarinet, and beginning/intermediate piano. I have taught private and group lessons on these instruments for seven years. I also received my Bachelors of Music in Music Education from the University of Redlands in 2005. I have a Professional Colorado Teaching License and I taught elementary general music, band, and choir for nine years.

I teach students of all ages for half hour, 45 minute, and hour lessons. I want my students to enjoy learning their instrument, so I teach them what they want to learn and let them chose songs that they want to play. I believe that music lessons should be fun as well as educational. I create an atmos
phere where making mistakes helps you learn so my students are not afraid to make mistakes. I am very enthusiastic about teaching music and I love it when my students master new skills. I have taught beginning students to read music and become accomplished on their instrument. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your musical goals!

My son began piano lessons with Rachel nearly two years ago and we have been very happy working with her. He has progressed steadily and is continually challenged to improve. She selects musical pieces that fit his personal interests as well as more traditional pieces with increasing complexity. We hope to continue learning with her for many more years to come.

My 9-yo daughter has had Rachel as a piano teacher for the past 1.5 years. Rachel has always been professional, punctual, and an excellent communicator when it comes to things like rescheduling lessons. My daughter has advanced in piano quite a bit—I attribute much of that to the music Rachel offers. My daughter has played the themes from Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Star Wars (music she knows and is excited to learn!) along with more classical pieces (e.g., Bach). We are very happy with Rachel!

I offer piano lessons for adults and children ages 8+.

I am a full-time musician and singer-songwriter (Christopher the Conquered). My music has been featured in Billboard and Paste Magazine, and my songs have over half a million plays online.

I do not teach classical piano. Classical training is absolutely wonderful if that's what the student is interested in, but many students give up because of the high learning curve and regret it later on in life. I hear this from people at my shows all the time. My approach is to teach basic music theory in the context of songs that the student wants to learn to play. The goal is to get the student playing the song he/she wants as quickly as possible, as this tends to make learners a lot more excited about the potential of sticking with it. Starting by learning pop/rock/indie/country songs that the student knows and loves gets them hooked early on to playing, then they will stick with learning more difficult material because they ...

About Christopher
I am a pianist and singer-songwriter. I recently moved to Denver, Colorado from Des Moines, Iowa. I make a living full-time as a musician, and give piano, vocal, and songwriting lessons in my free time.

I have worked in an official capacity for the non-profit ArtForce Iowa, teaching piano, voice, and songwriting to court-appointed youth. I have also taught piano to adults, and lead an annual songwriting course at the University of Iowa's Young Writer's Workshop.

My main musical project is called Christopher the Conquered. You can look it up online to hear samples of my work and to watch videos of my live performances. My music has appeared in films and commercials as well.

For in-person lessons, I have a portable recording rig that I can use to record students who are ready to share what they've learned, whether it be with friend
s/family (a great gift) or with the world by uploading the songs online.

I believe that music is not only enriching for the soul but also a life enhancement that builds confidence, self-discipline, and problem-solving skills for people of all ages. I always strive to be inclusive, patient, playful, and flexible, thus creating a safe and welcoming learning environment that supports each students’ individual self-expression.

Each lesson will incorporate ear training, theory, sight reading, practice tools, composition, and improvisation – skills that endure for a lifetime.

Learning any skill requires patience and discipline. I require all students to practice thirty minutes a day which you'll be tracking in your practice and goal journal. The type of practicing depends on what you seek to accomplish. Invest in yourself by earning a little every day, and you will always see improvement.

About Katherine
Hello, and thank you for our interest in music lessons!

I've been playing piano since age eight, and teaching for over ten years. I love teaching teens and adults who are interested in writing their own music, but have experience teaching children as young as three years of age. My passion for piano shows through my own compositions, and I love exploring the meaning of life through music. I've recently released a full album of avant-pop piano songs called "Blind Opening" and am excited to get back into teaching music after a brief hiatus during the album completion.

Even before my exposure to piano at age eight, I've enjoyed my own form of composing by dictating the sounds I imagined in my head on paper. My initial inspiration to compose music on piano came from the movie “The Changeling” starring George C. Scott. The film’s superna
tural plot, based off of a ghost story that took place in Denver (but was portrayed in Seattle in the film about a composer haunted by tragedy), first drew me in to the idea of working to become a pianist composer. It also called upon my belief that music is a way of connecting with otherworldly entities and experiences. I've been defining and honing my composition style and skill while paving my creative direction since my conservatory studies. Aside from solo music work, I also draw, create stop-animation videos, paint, sculpt, and write poetry - much of it inspired by my favorite composers, Star Trek, and the great outdoors.
