The Ukulele is an excellent instrument especially for younger children that would like to get into music. A lot of chords only require one or two fingers to learn and a person can usually start playing their favorite songs in only one or two lessons.

After playing in bands for the last 23 years, I have decided to focus exclusively on my passion for teaching. It has been a lot of fun continuing to build a comprehensive music program, which now includes an online platform. Currently, I have over 20 years of music teaching experience and a bac

The Ukulele is in a world of it's own! It's easily portable and you can pull it out to jam or play as you sing just about anytime. It's an instrument that has a unique love from all of it's players, and once you learn how to play (in no time!) I'm sure you'll develop the same passion for the Uke!

We'll learn basic chords and strumming techniques as well as advanced fingerpicking, melody playing and the theory to help you choose chords that really fit the mood you're trying to create.

About Kirk

I have been studying music for most of my life and began teaching when I was 16. I have been given the opportunity to learn from some of the best musicians and teachers around. I have been teaching a variety of fretted stringed instruments, for over 25 years. Ukulele is a fun and easy instrument for beginners of any age to learn! I teach chords, strumming, finger-picking, and melody lines, and know lots of songs that are particularly good for the ukulele. Students may choose to learn to read music, or to read tablature, or just play by rote and from lesson videos. All of my lessons are customized to match each individual student's interests and preferred learning styles. (With very young children, I will have the child learn to play and sing popular children's songs.)

The ukulele is a very simple and complex instruments. I like to focus on tuning, learning chords and chord progressions, as well as
practicing strum patterns. I can help you play your favorite song or even create your own. Requests for specific instructions are welcome. The amount of time it takes is determined by your will to learn and the practice that comes with it.

About Reymar

I took guitar classes, but learned most of what I know from peers, YouTube, and myself. I’m a performer, singer/songwriter, producer, and teacher. I taught private lessons for a few of my teachers and their family members when I was in high school. I’d say my personality is pretty goofy, but I like

I work with the student to develop a curriculum based on their musical interests and my own teaching pedagogy. I strongly feel that for musicians to own their education, they must have a say in what they play. Assigning method books and mindless etudes to practice doesn't have nearly the same effect asking them "Ok, what kind of music do YOU like? What do you want to PLAY? What do you want to LEARN?".

I believe that students learn best when they are invested in a subject, and the best way to get them invested is to individually get to know each one, speak to them on their level, and get them playing music they're interested in.

About Jon

I'm a professional performer, educator, and recording artist. I received my Masters in Music from New Mexico State University, and my BA and BME from the College of Wooster in Ohio. Students can expect to improve their technique and performing repertoire within a matter of weeks. We will collabo

The ukulele is a creative adaptation and redesign of the machete de braga, a small stringed instrument that was introduced to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants in August of 1879. The Hawaiian people fell in love with the sound of the instrument and named it “ukulele" because the fingers of the performer dancing around on the neck and strings as a song was played resembled jumping fleas. Ukulele means jumping fleas in the Hawaiian language.

Since the ukulele is related to a European instrument and the guitar from Spain, the relative tuning is the same. It should be tuned a perfect fourth up from a guitar, so the first string is tuned to an A, second string should be tuned to an E, third string will be a C, & the fourth string should be tuned to a G an octave up. Most ukuleles have a fourth string that is an octave above what the normal progression would be of most stringed instruments. If your G string is not tuned an octave up it’s a larger size than the average ukulele G string ...

"Kat is a thoughtful and gifted teacher, and is great with kids! She is teaching my 7 year old to sing, and play the ukulele. She has been such an inspiration to my daughter who had previously been frustrated and discouraged by taking lessons from two prior teachers, so much so my daughter wants to take up guitar and possibly songwriting in the future. My daughter always looks forward to lessons with Kat. I am also happy she practices and does her homework because she wants and chooses to do so, and not because I am bugging her about it! It's so refreshing and such a relief! Kat has a special way of connecting and encouraging my daughter to develop her passion to sing and play music. Thank you Kat! Keep up the great work!"

"I've taken ukulele lessons with Melissa for about 3 months now. As a beginner to music, Melissa is patient with me and builds on topics and techniques in such a way that I was able to grasp them. Not only have we covered chords, strumming, and rhythm on the ukulele, but she taught me about music theory as well (which was unexpected but I've enjoyed learning!). I would definitely recommend Melissa for ukulele lessons!"
