Every voice is susceptible to training and development. To do this, a great effort of attentiveness is required. Exercises in body-awareness help dissolve habits and make way to development through thoughtful vocalization. In my approach, the act of singing is immensely complex and inherently indivisible. We will talk about the different "parts" of the instrument/phenomenon (the breath, the tongue, the throat, the sound and its color, etc.) but always as inseparable, trying to understand, by keen observation, how and why they are inextricably intertwined. As we work on your voice, we will talk about these different "angles" over and over again, in a practical spiral towards deeper and deeper insight and know-how.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music with an emphasis in Vocal Performance and Musical Theater. In the spring of 2007, I travelled to New York with one of the many touring singing groups I have been a part of and performed a concert on the stage of Carnegie Hall. I have performed in and directed numerous musical theater productions and currently teach with an after-school arts program in the Denver area. I continue to perform in shows and musical reviews and now teach from my home studio.

Offering beginning voice lessons to all ages in all genres and styles. Lessons are catered to the individual student's goals and learning styles. Unlike instructors who only use karaoke tracks for accompaniment, I accompany my students on the piano. This allows me to make accompaniment recordings for the students to practice with. I provide warm-ups, melody tracks and full piano accompaniment tracks (at appropriate tempos). This is very beneficial for students when practicing as the accompaniment recordings can "grow" with their skill level on each song. It also gives the student the flexibility to choose songs that would normally be outside of their vocal range, because we can transpose the song and make recordings in a key that works for them! I specialize in working with young voices that are still developing and helping students learn the differences between choral singing and solo singing.

Learning or perfecting skills can often feel intimidating and challenging at times. In each personalized lesson, it is my goal that you feel encouraged and appreciated for the unique singer or learner you are. I will give you the tools you need to become a confident and composed performer and to reach your goals as a student. I will provide fun and interactive exercises that help you master the basics of breath, posture, tone, diction, and the foundations of musicianship. Students will learn how to prepare a song and how to present a song in dramatic and interpretive form. Students will learn how to prepare for auditions and competitions (choral, solo, theatre role, etc.), and how to overcome stage fright and other challenges that are unique to live performance. I use a variety of teaching tools such as physical movement, imagery, and visual aids. I specialize in classical singing, musical theatre, and the jazz/blues sound. My goal is for you to enjoy singing and to meet your goals, whether you want to just sing at home for your family or land a leading role in a musical!
