As the lessons continue, I slowly add new tools to each weekly lesson that are exiting and interesting. While working with intermediate to advanced students, I have had coached them to apply and get accepted into some of the top Universities and Conservatories in the country. My students, beginner intermediate and advanced levels, have been awarded for their performances and activities in schools and competitions.
I am also a composition teacher. I work with composition students from beginner to advance. My composition students, over the years, range from all ages starting at 7. My students, after the first year, have been able to write string quartets and piano trios. My advanced students have entered competitions all over the country and are very successful in their composition practice. Some of their compositions have been performed in famous concert halls and schools.

I believe that some students work better when there is motivation for performance activities. For that reason I host these type of events. Students that decide they want to take place in these events perform among all levels. I offer these performance opportunities as an invitation. Each student has a choice as to whether they would like to perform.

I offer Broadway vocal training with focus of belting technique and repertoire. Voice is my first instrument and I teach all levels. The vocal technique I teach is drawn from the Bel Canto Tradition and tailored to fit more modern styles of music with emphasis on posture, muscle relaxation and breathing technique among fun and interesting vocal exercises!

About ELENA
Hello!
Music is my life and my biggest passion. I've been a working musician and a teacher for several years and there's nothing more rewarding than sharing all I've learned so far with my students, to nurture their goals and aspirations and to make them aware of the great instrument they already possess. Every year I plan and host two wonderful recitals for my students, so that they can experience and share their progress with family and friends.

Here's more about me and my education:
I was born and raised in Italy and have been singing since I was a child but started a formal training during my teenage years with a private coach. During college, while studying Psychology at the University of Florence, I attended 2 different private music schools in Florence and Bologna, since it was not possible at the time to study music in Colleg
e. There I kept studying vocal technique, solfege, classical guitar and music harmony.
I moved to LA 11 years ago and attended Musician's Institute earning a diploma in Vocal Studies and Vocal Performance and then I attended a Composition & Songwriting Program at UCLA for 2 years. I refined my vocal technique studying at Berkley College of Music for a summertime in a special program for Jazz Vocalists and I have been an Alexander Technique's student for now 10+ years.
I am a performing artist, I sing and teach privately for a living and, on the side, I help an Opera Touring company promote their tours. I have performed all over the country in some beautiful venues such as the Getty Center and Pantages Theater to name a few. Guitar is my second instrument but I accompany students with my piano during vocal exercises. My personal style of singing is modern, not operatic, I love many kinds of music but especially pop, jazz, and musical theater.

***Lessons Details***

**Singing: Teaching Adults**
There are two sides of singing that I like to work on with my students.
The first is vocal technique, which is first and foremost the study of how to use our instrument, our whole body, in the best and most useful way to avoid strain ad create beautiful sounds. I believe that when we relax and use the right posture, meaning the most natural one, then our bodies and our breathing mechanisms act as they are supposed to, and singing magically happens at its best. When we learn to use our bodies without strain, the right "singing" muscles are automatically engaged and exercised and we feel at ease. So I try to encourage a non-forceful way to use diaphragmatic breathing, which I have learned by studying Alexander Technique, which is a technique that teaches people how to stop using unnecessary levels of muscular and mental tension during any activity, especially during an artistic performance of any kind.
I try to notice bad singing habits the student may have formed throughout his/her life, (hopefully none!), and gently help them correct them. The vocal exercises I use are drawn from the Bel Canto tradition, a classical tradition, but I mix them with more modern vocal exercises to develop popular techniques like "belting" for example.
The second side of singing is simply to pay attention to song interpretation, to convey the message we would like to convey. I encourage the student to choose songs to work on they truly love, and I welcome any style of music. I give the students vocal exercises CDs to help them practice at home.

**Singing: Teaching Children**
What I described above is also true for teaching children, however I like to teach them "by ear" with simple vocal exercises and vocal games at the beginning of the lesson and try to ease them into the sound they naturally make. I like to create a positive environment in which the student can feel successful about even small achievements, whether it is standing in a relaxed way or having practiced the beginning of an exercise or part of a song. To help the student practice at home and keep the motivation alive without feeling overwhelmed I record each lesson (or let them record it) and give them the accompaniment for the song of their choice so they can have fun at home.

*** GUITAR ***
I teach young children using fun songs, games and classical guitar technique. I also teach adults and specialize in contemporary guitar. I welcome many styles of music, pop, rock as well as folk genres of Latin America. I emphasize good posture, tone and musicality, and always a high level of enjoyment with the process!

*** RECITALS ***
I plan and host 2 wonderful Recitals a year, one in January and one in June. I encourage all my students to participate, no matter how they may feel about their instrument level and preparation. Working towards a performance is one of the most effective ways to solidify your ever growing skill!

*** Studio Equipment ***
For students who come to my home studio, there is private guest parking right outside my building, in a gated complex of buildings and in a safe neighborhood just north of the 101. My studio is conveniently located just a few blocks from the freeway entrance. I have a comfortable sofa for parents and siblings to attend the lessons and a keyboard to use for accompaniment. Also, I periodically offer my students the chance to record one song in my studio, equipped with nice microphones and a professional recording system.

*** Travel Equipment ***
For singing lessons I bring my small and light master-keyboard and laptop or I can use the student piano/keyboard. For children's lesson I ask my students to bring a notebook to keep track of practice assignments.

*** Specialties ***
Music theory and Songwriting. Stage performance and how to feel comfortable on stage. Additionally I teach vocal jazz improvisation, Broadway singing and Italian song repertoire.

I grew up taking piano lessons and singing in my church and school choir. I always had a love for all classical music and soon enough fell in love with opera! I begin taking classical voice lessons at the age of 15 and soon realized that my heart and soul belonged to opera and had to continue my studies a lot more in depth.

I highly recommend Sarabeth to anyone interested in singing, whether you have already had some background in voice or you are just starting out.

Sarabeth is a truly amazing voice teacher!!! She led me step by step through many vocal exercises and taught me many a great classical song! Her patience and encouragement were ever present at each lesson as I stumbled through the classical songs which were written in other languages.

I have SMA type 1-2, a severely debilitating and progressive disease, and my lung capacity was 24% of normal when Sarabeth started teaching me. Under her guidance, I was able to increase my lung capacity to 28%! Believe me when I say that this is not supposed to happen to people with SMA. In general our lung capacities continue to decrease as the disease progresses until we need to be placed under mechanical ventilation. The most common mode of death for people with SMA is respiratory failure.

I am deeply saddened that Sarabeth is moving away to Los Angeles and will no longer be able to be my singing teacher, but wishing her the best of luck there!!! I will always remember her as the incredibly wonderful teacher she is!

Since my first lesson, I have seen consistent improvement in my technique and confidence. My voice is the healthiest it has ever been! I am creating sounds that just BLOW ME AWAY!

Lauren has a wide range of students, from beginners to advanced. Opera to musical theater. One thing you can be certain about her is that she has a passion for teaching. The commitment to help you improve is there. In my opinion, that is what you want in a teacher. I have the utmost confidence in recommending Lauren to someone who is looking for a teacher.

Lauren is a great professional! When I started my singing lessons with her, I was not confident about my voice and I was not sure if I would be brave enough to audition for musical theater. She has been helping me to get over my fear and believe in myself more as well as she has taught me techniques that really improved my voice. Now I know that all of this is possible.

Lauren is just amazing; knowledgable, positive and encouraging. I have a vocal tremor meaning my voice shakes when speaking and I lost the ability to sing. With Lauren's help, I am strengthening my voice. I had voice therapy sessions with a medically trained therapist where I made no progress and was encouraged to accept my 'limitation'. With Lauren, I didn't have to settle for accepting my limitation. Rather, I am making huge progress, thanks to her technical expertise, knowledge and encouragement, My speaking tremor is nearly gone and I can sing again!

I have many years of experience singing and teaching choirs. For me, singing is about expressing yourself - the vibration, the emotion, you feel it all in and through your body, which is your instrument! No matter what genre you sing, learning how to display your emotion with proper training would not only enhance your experience and protect your voice, giving you the opportunity to enjoy music for many years to come.

I enjoy teaching children as much as teaching adults. I always applaud my adult beginner students that they take the initiative to really try something new! It takes a lot of courage!! :)

About Teresa
I am most interested in coaching and consulting performers and teachers on auditions, diplomas and standardized exams.

ity. Every student brings a unique set of skills and needs to the table, and I believe the best method of teaching is a flexible one, that caters to the student's needs and goals. Teaching music is not only about notes and rhythms; it involved teaching the whole student. By taking voice lessons, the student will develop their singing skills as well as their listening skills, multi-tasking, working with others, and creative skills.

It is such a joy working with Christine. I was extremely nervous to start voice lessons because the voice you're given is who you are, it is a very vulnerable art form. Christine made me feel very comfortable and helped me to sing the best with the voice that I was given. Her ability to diagnose and remedy problems in technique was stellar. I am much more confident in my abilities and willing to share my voice with other people. I know I wouldn't have been able to do that if it weren't for Christine. I would recommend her as a teacher one hundred times over!!

Christine is a wonderful and talented teacher. She identified my individual issues and needs as a singer and offered many techniques to improve my breath support as well as relieve tension in my voice. She created an environment that was both productive and fun. I was impressed by her adaptability in catering to my specific needs as a singer and I grew a lot from my lessons with her. I highly recommend her to both newer and more experienced singers alike!

I'm thrilled to bring my experience of over 500 performances in 'Wicked', 300 in 'The Book of Mormon' (just to mention a couple) to YOU.

Drawing on my high level training as a singer and musician (I've been playing piano since I was 4!) I feel confident creating a fun, challenging and rewarding studio for my students. I've taught everyone from children to professionals and find all age and experience levels super rewarding.

Having trained classically for a while before moving across to Musical Theatre, I'm well versed in Bel Canto techniques as well as contemporary sounds such as belt/mix for both men and women. I

I myself am a student of one of the top voice teachers in New York City so I'm always looking for ways to improve my artistry and techniques to share with my wonderful students.

I can't wait to get started with you and see where this journey takes you!

About Edward
I am a professional singer and accompanist, having appeared in musicals such as 'Wicked', 'The Book of Mormon', 'Legally Blonde' & 'Spring Awakening'. I have a BFA from the prestigious West Australia Academy of Performing Arts (yes - that's also where Hugh Jackman went ;-). Oh - and I'm Australian so you get a bonus accent with your lessons!

I LOVE to teach. Don't get me wrong - I love to perform, too. But in the decade I've been teaching I've worked with young children all the way up to principal actors in major musicals and have found great joy in helping people at whatever stage they're at.

My technique is an amalgamation of several schools of thought that focuses on a supported, relaxed and connected sound. I often employ techniques from the Estille method. I feel comfortable teaching across a broad range of styles, of course, but
I believe in a solid foundation that will serve you well across ALL styles to be integral. We all want to be able to sing like Freddy Mercury one day and Audra McDonald the next!

I look forward to meeting you!
