Justin is the best vocal teacher one could ask for. I always have a great time with him. He really cares about your progress and will try just about anything to get you to improve. He moved away from my location, and no other vocal teacher I've been with since has matched his quality.

Eva M.

Louisville, KY

About Eva

If you are looking for a truly caring, passionate and dedicated teacher and want to have a rare and life-changing experience in your lessons, then look no further! I am a professional musician, I sing, play piano, and teach both voice and piano lessons.

This unique combination of abilities and areas of expertise offers me the chance to help my students to grow, transform, and awaken their gifts on every level.

As a teacher, my number one goal for each of my students is to foster confidence in one's self and one's abilities, and to grow one's skills in and passion for music. As I appr
eciate and expect that each student's goals and interests in music will be different, I approach each student and their lessons accordingly. Whether my students are young or old; whether they view their lessons as a just-for-fun hobby; or whether they wish to pursue a serious music career - I am happy to facilitate all of this and more, as we work together to reach their goals.

Thanks to my rigid classical background in music, I have the technical knowledge and skills to ensure that students create music in a way that is based in proper technique and strong musicianship. I also treat music lessons as a means of helping students to express themselves, explore their creativity, to heal, and to move towards being the best version of themselves. I take a truly holistic approach in my music lessons, and hope that it will be a therapeutic, empowering and transformative experience for each of my students. I offer each student a fun, warm, loving environment, in which to find their own unique style and sound, and to celebrate themselves and their gifts.

In addition to my work as a musician and teacher, I am also a psychic healer. I am a trained and certified Reiki Master and highly gifted intuitive. Through my work as a psychic healer, I not only offer my clients the benefit of energy healing, but also act as a channel and medium for clients to receive healing messages from their angels, spirit guides, and loved ones who have crossed into spirit. My intuitive gifts and love of healing impact and inform all of the work that I do, and as a music teacher, allows me to offer a truly unique, holistic, and healing experience to each of my students.

I have taken lessons with Eva for nearly two years and cannot say enough good things about her! She is kind, caring, professional, supportive, and fun, but she also pushes her students to become stronger performers, which I greatly appreciate! She is a wonderful teacher and, under her tutelage, I can assure you that you will learn a great deal!

We purchased singing lessons from Eva as a birthday gift for our daughter who enjoys singing at all hours of the day. She has very much enjoyed her lessons with Eva. As an instructor, Eva is very patient and energetic about the students progress and abilities. Always a smile, and a positive coaching experience!!

Alison S.

Louisville, KY

About Alison

***About Me***

I'm passionate about music and love sharing that through performance and teaching. As an active musician, I teach a full private lesson studio during the week and play gigs on the weekends. That's right, music is not just a "side-job" or a way to make a few "extra" bucks, it is actually my profession and I take teaching my students seriously. It is my goal to provide a solid foundation in music fundamentals while keeping students inspired as much as I can, especially because music can be tough sometimes!

I received my degree in viola performance from the University of Lou
isville School of Music in May 2010. I play violin, viola and piano regularly and have played them most of my life. On the weekends, I play viola in a string trio called Electria for weddings or events. We often play popular music on electric instruments accompanied by backtracks. Playing popular music has expanded my knowledge and experience. Of course classical will always have a place! It is beautiful and timeless! But playing current music is also a lot of fun, and appeals to the modern student. There's room for all kinds of music and I embrace it all!

*** Lesson Details ***
I'm not a really strict teacher but I do encourage my students to push themselves and really make the most of their practice time, especially if they have busy schedules. I believe in customizing my teaching style to my student's needs and desires. I'm very positive and encouraging while never sacrificing constructive feedback.

***What to Expect***
After 3 months with a beginning Viola, Violin, or Piano student, I expect you to be able to read the notes (without having to write them all in), understand basic rhythms, have learned how to play a scale (or more), and have completed a few of songs.

After 6 months, I expect that my students will have relative ease with reading their music, playing with hands together on piano, and starting to master basic bowing techniques and coordination on Violin and Viola.

Learning an instrument is difficult, but so rewarding. With the right teacher it can be a wonderful experience, and that's my goal. I want music to be enjoyable, interesting, fun and enriching for my students. My style is encouraging, positive, and thoughtful... I try to teach in a way that is comprehensive and wholistic!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Living Room, grand piano and an electric piano, room for parents to wait on a couch or chair, music stand, metronome

***What you should bring***
Sheet Music/Books
Rosin (for violin/viola students)

*** Specialties ***
I mainly focus on classical training, however I customize the teaching repertoire to incorporate my student's music tastes and interest. As I teach, I incorporate music theory so that my students may have a better understanding of how the music is structured because my goal is that they understand music from a wholistic perspective so that it can be enjoyed for a lifetime!

***Studio Policies***
I am flexible and easy to work with, however I am running a full private lesson studio and time is limited! I do require a 24-hour cancellation notice if you are unable to attend a lesson - as it does allow me to use that time to reschedule another student or optimize my time. If notice is given the day of your lesson, the lesson will be marked as "missed." With a day's notice, I will "cancel" the lesson and your lesson credit will not be used. You are welcome to reschedule your lesson to another available time during the week, however, the 24-hour notice still applies. I don't want to be unfair to you and I just ask the same of my students :)

Keep in mind, regular lessons really do make a difference in students' progress and enthusiasm, so I encourage you to keep a regular lesson schedule if possible!

Hiromi is wonderful. This was my 13 year old son's first lesson on piano, and Hiromi tailor made the lesson to fit his level of experience. He was able to improv and experiment with the keyboard, and Hiromi guided him through perfectly, while then following up with structure. Thanks to Hiromi and a wonderful first lesson. :)
